"The hotel and bar experience was really nice but wasn't impressed with the grill restaurant. Menu was quite misleading in terms of the main courses, skewers didn't specify only one was meat and the other was veg... In addition the muscles for starter there was lots of empty shells so portion ended up being small instead of average. Fed back to the waiter in the night but nothing came of it."

Had a lovely family carvery meal to celebrate a birthday. We were very well looked after by attentive staff. The meat served on the carvery was beautiful and great choice of starters and desserts. Would highly recommend!

The food was good, but the restaurant lacked atmosphere due to its emptiness. We were the only ones present, aside from one other table. The bar was closed with no patrons around. It's a real shame; it could really benefit from more customers.

Normally, I would have left at that point and gone somewhere else, but since it was Valentine's Day and most other places were fully booked, I wanted to treat my girlfriend. So we decided to stay, even though we weren’t in the best mood. The food itself was excellent, but I'm uncertain if it was worth the £30 per person.

A wonderful lunch. The carvery was perfect and the beef divine. The chef (Matt) couldn’t do enough for us. There was plenty of choice of food and all of it pipping hot. The rest of the staff were very attentive (especially Leah) and constantly asked us if everything was OK. It was truly a memorable meal and I can’t wait to go back. Thanks to all at the Village Hotel.

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
