"Asian restaurants (Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese) pre-prepare their meat for use in stir-frys and curries etc. This process involves soaking the meat in water after slicing the meat into bite size pieces. This process removes all traces of blood but also has the unfortunate side effect of removing all the taste too. Not all restaurants do this. But it is easy to recognise the ones that do. They are the ones that serve vile tasteless meat in their dishes that is similar to eating a piece of week old chewing gum instead of pork, beef, chicken. Sadly, Sabai Thai Gastrobar is one of these restaurants. I ordered a takeaway of Pad Gra Prow (Stir fried holy basil) and whilst it looked fine, and it was certainly spicy enough, the meat (pork) was tasteless and disgusting. As the meat for all dishes will almost certainly be prepared the same way (not including fish dishes) then it is safe to assume that the majority of their dishes will be tasteless and disgusting. Shame really as I had high hopes but I'm afraid I won't be returning. The dish cost me £14.95 which is the same price for takeaway or eat-in. Why is this the case in Brighton? Every other city in the UK has a dine-in price and a takeaway price which is generally 20% discount. Anyway, I won't be eating here again."

"the pho street is located in the center of the cutty sark and is 3 minutes walk from the greenwich park. the restaurant is specialized in Vietnamese street food, with a local mix of delicious dishes on the menu. the restaurant is also culturally mixed, with wooden chairs and tables, open kitchen and counters, paintings and decos in different styles a relaxed and more comfortable place for hangouts and meetings. and above all, eating is amazing! I did not try everything on the menu, so hope to visit again in the future!"

"I was having a birthday weekend and had booked to go to my favourite noodle bar. Turned up and it was closed, so had to look for an alternative. We walked around a little and found this place and took a chance and went in. It was absolutely the best decision we could have made. We ordered noodles, Caramelised Pork, Chicken Wings and vegetables in Ginger. The pork was melt in the mouth and the wings crispy and seasoned just right. The chicken Noodles were so good I found it hard to stop eating. We topped this off with some Sake and the evening's feast was complete. I cannot fault this place, if you want delicious food, great company (our waiter was funny and charming), then this is the place for you. It's my new favourite and I would definitely return."

"When we arrived at The Village Hotel Aberdeen we were put in a lovely room with a super king size bed, lovely decor and it was lovely and clean. We stayed the first night in this room, the bed was extremely comfortable and a very good size. The problem was I have mobility difficulties and there was a bath in the bathroom. I went to reception to see if they could do anything, the staff were very friendly and helpful and changed our room to an accessible room. I really wish we hadn't changed room! The accessible room was awful! The bed was a small double and the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, I woke every hour through the night with back pain, as did my partner. The room decor was dingy and the carpet was stained, there were marks on the sheets and the TV was much smaller than the TV in the original room. Why does the accessible room not have the same standards as a normal room? I was appauled. They really should improve the standard of the accessible room, it is unfair that people that need to use these rooms have to compromise on comfort and luxury. On a positive note, the staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly, the breakfast and evening meal were very delicious, although quite expensive. The breakfast is a buffet style with lots of choice. The evening meals have a good size portion and are very yummy. There is limited room service available between 5pm and 9:30pm. The bar was well stocked, although some of the drinks on tap were not available because the pumps were broken. The bar prices are quite expensive... £10.60 for a pint of larger and a Jack Daniels with diet Coke. My overall opinion is that if you are staying in a standard king size room then I would recommend, but if you are staying in an accessible room avoid unless you want a bad back!"

"Started by phoning to make a booking, this was horrendous in the end I phoned central reservations and they put me through to the restaurant. I asked if the carvery was still available they assured me it was. Arrived at restaurant nobody came to show us or table we asked at the bar they pointed to where it was.sat at the table no one came to explain where the starters were or anything else. We found the starters or should I say where the remains or maybe not were. No plates to put the food on had to go and find someone The cold plate of meat what was left was spattered with cream from the desserts which was right next to it on the table, salad was non existent had to find someone again to explain all this. The main course was almost the same very little meat left the beef was the best and that was pretty miserely. The veg and the yorkshires were only just above blood heat. My advice is don't go anywhere near this carvery any later than mid afternoon. ."

"The staff on the greeting were very friendly, and the car park had lots of places to park. If the hotel had an electrical charging station that would have been amazing. The rooms were lovely and clean, and the shower was great and super warm. The toilet and sink were also wonder, and we had plenty of towels. The beds were amazingly comfortable and the pillows were very fluffy. The overall breakfast was delicious not to oily or burnt in anyway, and the staff were just so kind. One gentleman who was clearly into cars had a long conversation with me, and that made us feel happy as we were talking to real humans. I wish the pool was open for much longer, as even if your going with children, a competent parent is going to watch their children and not allow anything to happen. Just something for the Village Hotel to consider as the kids were keen to use the pool/spa, but due to the busy itinerary that we had in Edinburgh, there was not time."

"The food was good but……. Service was awful, ordered wine and it was basically dumped at the bottom of our table not even the top taken off ! Pizza was good also the burger, was a chore for the waitress to get us any sauces. When we had finished we were asked can I take your plates, No can I offer you a dessert, coffee nothing. After 20 mins we got up and had to ask for our bill at the main desk, again a chore for the member of staff to have to get our bill.what a shame as it could be a very high rating place to eat."

"I visited the The Village Hotel in Aberdeen. I have never been to Scotland before and wanted to make the stay special as it was booked to celebrate my partner's birthday. I spoke to Matt Ross many times before arrival and he was very helpful and also helped me to upgrade the room which we really made a difference. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy complete with a sky package in the room. Matt also helped us throughout our stay and honestly made such a positive impact to our holiday. The pool area was very relaxing and the hotel itself was clean. We very much enjoyed our stay and would love to stay again in the future. I will be recommending to family and friends even of it's another branch Monique"

"Took some family members (7) for carvery at 4pm Sunday. Starters dried up , soup wouldn’t come out of jug so had to remove lid tip out . Just a lump of cold congealed mess . Bread rolls rock solid. Main was equally terrible , end of dried up turkey (server apologised) ham fatty and no beef. Veg and potatoes soggy and just leftover from early in the day . So greasy and cold . All got left . There was a table with breakfast food on it , ie, croissants, jam . Seeded muffing and granola. This is what my two grandsons ate . We complained to server , he laughed and said yes it’s left over from breakfast! Never ever in my 60 years have I had such an embarrassing and inedible meal . I’ve never ever left a negative comment on any site before but this was totally unacceptable. I’ve sent an email but not sure if I’ve sent it correctly. We spent a great deal of money on this meal and had to take the children to a fast food outlet on the way home . I was very upset as I had chosen this venue felt very upset embarrassed by the whole experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning or recommending this carvery experience. Someone seriously needs to look at the quality of food . Potatoes , supposedly roast where just white in colour and covered in grease . There was maybe 10 potatoes in the server and there was 7 of us in our party but we asked and told there wasn’t any more . Why we stayed I do not know . Several days later I cannot stop thinking about this meal and feel incredulous that we didn’t ask for a refund, probably just much to polite to do so ."

"I took my friend here for a Valentine's Day meal. we had 2 for 1 on the main court certificate. the voucher has expressly stated that it cannot be used on Christmas or on New Year's meal. Despite the fact that I gave them the credit when we arrived, we were told that they received me via the credit card (which they did not have) by email, as it did not with him to honor valentinstag. when we told the person who was at the reception about the credit card, who only claimed that he could not be used to christmas or New Year's events, he simply told us that we cannot use him. Normally I should have walked out at this point and had gone to another place, but since it was Valentine's Day, I wanted to treat my girlfriend and most other places would have been fully booked. we decided to stay here and dinate, obviously not in the best moods. the eating itself was perfect although I am not sure it was worth the £30 per person."

"The service was terrible. It took an hour for our appetizers to arrive, and we had to repeatedly request a glass of water. The burger was overcooked, and the coffee machine had malfunctioned, so we had to wait until it was turned back on. When the coffee finally came, it was definitely not cappuccinos—more like very strong coffee with just a splash of milk. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience."

"I am a member at the village gym and always come for spa day and and lunch with my friends as i love it here at Hull village. I decided to book a meal for my dad's birthday last Sunday for 6 of us as a supirse for him and what a supirse we had. We ordered 4 roast dinners and 1 child main and 1 main off the normal menu. My fathers meal and sons meal came out 35 mins before our roast dinners which we was not happy about as by the time they arrived my father had finished his dinner. When the carvery came we asked for all of them on plates and got them all on woodern boards. 3 beef dinners came out and my nephews dinner roast turkey didn't... He then had to wait another 10 mins for his dinner and another 5 for extra Gravey... They apologised and gave is a round of free drinks which didn't really cut it but we was grateful. The staff looked petrified and unsure of what to say or do and it was because of them not telling the kitchen 2 tables where put together and we had finished our starter everything where so bad. We then ordered deserts 2 hours later. We got a gluten free ice cream and 3 chocolate brownie and Icecream. 2 brownie came out but my sons Ice cream and my desert was missing so then we had to complain again. We could not beleive it. They then came back out 5 mins later after my mum and nephew finished there dessert to tell me they had ran out of brownie and they forgot to do the Icecream. I was fuming by this point as you can imagine. I decided to have the chocolate cake instead. When it finally came out it was frozen cold with cream not hot. i was gutted but i was that mad my dad's birthday was ruined i left it. They said sorry for the bad service and mess and wiped the bill which of course they had no other choice really as it was that bad they even began to laugh at some of there own team members. The whole experience was a disaster. Im suppose to book a meal for 8 in December for a girls night but now im not so sure. So disappointed."

"Came to The Village Hotel Liverpool for Sunday Carvery and only have one word.....amazing! Arrived first of all to the Public House which was busy and had a nice atmosphere. We were lead through to the Restaurant by Amy who was very helpful and explained everything to us in regards to the Carvery! The soup was brought to the Table (delicious) and everything else is self service. There was a large selection of Cold starters available which again were delicious and were very well presented. The Carvery was hot and plentiful and presented really well could not fault a single thing! The Apple Pie at the end was a nice touch and lots of other dessert selection including an ice cream machine which was really good for the kids! After the Carvery we went through to the Bar for the quiz which we really enjoyed and even came 2nd! Well done Village Liverpool you have excelled yourselves once again!"

"Ate here before a concert as we were staying at the hotel. Our deal included a 2 course meal each from a fixed menu with a choice of 4 starters, 6 mains and a few desserts. We chose to share a starter and a pud, plus have a main course each. The portion sizes were fairly large so this was a good choice, and it se emend like the staff were used to people doing this so no problem in getting extra cutlery etc. The food. Was well cooked and tasty and good value for the price paid. Suggest booking in advance as we saw customers being turned away."

"On Sunday evening, I visited the restaurant after booking a room at the hotel. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and we were directed to the Grill instead. However, at 7.30 pm, there were three large screens showing football with loud music playing, making it difficult to have a quiet meal and converse with friends. Despite this, we bought drinks and spoke to the manager, who was accommodating and attentive. The bar staff seemed inexperienced with the till system, but the manager ultimately resolved the noise issue by setting up a table in the lobby area. When checking in at 4.30 pm, the noise from the TVs in the lobby was overwhelming, prompting me to consider leaving immediately. A staff member helped with check-in by shouting over the noise. I would suggest separating the noisy bar area from the lobby to avoid losing customers in the future. Overall, the service provided by the manager was satisfactory, despite the initial challenges."

"Not at the moment. Wait for the full refurb before going back. The staff didnt know if they were handling the bar menu or the grill menu. Ordering drinks at the bar, same 4 drinks, different prices depending on who served you. On the grill side 3 course Sunday lunch Starters was soup served from coffee pots in enamelled cups. Main was server on a wooden board, Desert was cookies or croissant. We had to order separate deserts from the bar menu (at extra cost) for one not to arrive at the table. (cost deducted from the bill) To be fair the food that was server was nice BUT!!!!! If I wanted a cup a soup I would have stayed at home. We ask for plates because how do you pour gravy on a wooden board? plus I don't like the taste of wood in my roast beef. Finally, cookies, croissant or a shot glass of cream with a bit of jam doesn't constitute dessert to me. Bring back the carvery! and plates!"

Unfortunately, when we went to the lobby at 4:30 a.m. to check in, we were met with a noisy environment due to the televisions. This prompted us to leave immediately. An employee had to shout over the noise to assist us with the check-in process. I would suggest that the restaurant either turn off the loud music in the lobby or risk losing customers in the future."

"We decided to visit this restaurant with our friends because it is local to us, we have been there before and had good food and we love Italian food. We arrived on what we thought would be a busy evening due to a local international air show. When we got into the restaurant it was very quiet but didn't think much of it. Then we looked at the menu and was shocked as to the changes that had been made as there was only a couple of things on there that would be classified as Italian it was mainly Asian/Eastern food. We were somewhat confused and quizzed the waitress as to where the Italian choices had gone and she advised that the menu had been changed. The choices for the 4 of us were vegi skewers, beef skewers, burger and meatballs. The food was cooked well and tasted good but the restaurant seems to currently have an identity crisis with an Italian name and stating italian restaurant on the front of the menu but very little Italian food choices. Also it was very quiet for a Saturday night, no atmosphere and the waitresses seemed to rush us a little in order that they could close up. I would not recommend this restaurant at the moment until the menu changes."
