"This is our favorite spot for curries because they cater to all dietary needs, including allergies and gluten or dairy restrictions. The curries are always delicious and portion sizes are decent. We also love their Papadum pickles. Although prices can be a bit high, they often have specials on their website and offer discounts through email sign-ups. The staff is attentive and always makes sure we're satisfied. We usually visit on weekdays for a quieter experience, but even on busy Friday nights, we receive great service. The restaurant has a traditional décor and music which adds to the ambiance. If you're looking for high-quality Indian curries with fast and attentive service, I highly recommend this place."

"I have been coming to this restaurant for many years. After a grueling workout at the gym, I was eager to try the mixed grill. It was incredibly tasty, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented. "Was staying in Portsmouth for a few days. Went to Purple mango Indian restaurant. Arrived a little early but that did not matter.Was shown to r table which was clean. Had a nice bottle of wine. Which was nice chilled. Good poppadoms a great selection of dips. For are starters we had mussels in lemon garlic also meat samosas they came lovely hot. For are mains we had king prawn masala ,garlic naan, sag aloo, chicken tikka masala, all very good lovely hot also had water at the table. Nice chilled. Had dessert chocolate mousse , strawberry dessert .very nice .to round of the evening coffee .very nice. Also Baileys on the house. Nice touch. Big shout out to are waiter Ali nothing to much trouble for him .All the waiting staff are very well dressed clean tidy.The restaurant is a lovely setting. Nice for couples or big groups of people.The owner Raji is lovely asked if are food was ok. At the end of the night he even called us a taxi back to are hotel. Which was very good him .would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in Portsmouth area. Lovely clean restaurant . Lovely friendly waiting staff. Food amazing.best Indian in town. Raji should be very proud of his team in Purple mango they all was working very hard Friday night."

"There is a vegan section and on the menu hoped that the order would be easy. Allergens are also listed, so it is also quite easy to see what is vegan from other bits of the menu, like sunflowers . Most of the staff who had to be embarrassed had no idea what vegan meant, I had to explain it. There is a big buffet, but I was recommended not to use it, as serving utensils could be accidentally exchanged by other dishes. Good enough. After ordering from the menu, I was then sent a message from the kitchen that says dishes were not labeled with vegan!? and had to show them to the menu and explain everything again.... When the food showed up, it was delicious and the Chapattis were excellent, but small portions. The salad might not have been vegan!?"

"It's been worst ever experience to visit any buffet place. Tried 4 type of chicken dishes all of them were quite hard that you needed hammer to break. Tried veg roll which had smell of burnt oil. Tried fish was also had burnt smell. In checking curry we did our best to find the chicken but only potato were there Lamb had still fat on it and wasn't fresh Egg fried rice were not fresh and looks like dry and burnt.... Best product they had was coca cola with Ice And I formed staff about it non of them bothered to look at it. Won't recommend at all"

"So where do I begin.... I thought I 'd try this establishment again after having a good ish experience, this time As a take away. Please understand I live 2 roads away from this restaurant and waited an hour and 5 minutes for my food! Whilst on the phone to an incompetent manager the food was received and was STONE cold! The excuse was given to me from the manager that yes it is only 25 minutes late what is the big problem which I brought to his attention that it was NOT 25 minutes late as I was told 30 minutes remember 1hour 5minutes! I requested a full refund in which I was called by a senior manager who was at home. This coward of a man is rude, unknowledgeable, incompetent and disgusting and is very lucky he has not met me in person! Especially after hanging up on me because he didn 't like it when I made a fool of his solutions as they were totally a joke. He started the conversation by calling me a liar, suggesting I TEXT him my bank details for a refund to which I declined for obvious reason, he then proceeded to shout and try to be sarcastic! Biggest mistake to make and didn 't like it when I put him in his place. Then demanded I never order from him again and that I was wasting my time as his restaurant was the absolute best I the area! HAHAHA funny mate. After an hour of arguing and him contradicting his own points I made sure he understood that receiving my refund immediately was the best solution as I would take this further. I will be seeing him"

"Though not unenjoyable, I can 't say the meal lived up to my expectations based on other reviews I had read. The venue was very nice and the staff very polite. The starters were great. When it came to the main courses, the flavours were definitely very nice. However, the textures......essentially kind of like pureed Indian baby food, for 3 of the dishes we had (korma, Tikka Masala, Rogon). There was no visible veg etc in the meal, just 'sauce ' and the chosen meat. Additionally, one thing I found very annoying was the waiter who said the original amount of rice/naan I ordered would not be enough for four people. This was just an excuse to upsell over-priced rice. We ended up leaving almost 2 full portions of rice. Overall, it wasn 't a bad meal, but it didn 't really meet the authentic standard. I actually had a better Indian meal from the 'ready meals ' aisle of Tesco 's supermarket a few days later."

"Had food here and the carvery was fine. Bar staff were sharp and nice. the place is very big but I have never been in there late. Loads of ex footballers come to the pub for events so it has a been football following and live music. Not sure if it felt like my kinda evening venue so I never tried. Its the same sort of thing as the Bell and the Carpenter. They all start to blend one into the other with styling, menus and target markets. If its your thing go for it."

"This should really be a 5 star review but due to staff not adhering to covid rules it has to be a 3. The quality of food saved it from being a 1. Staff started off with the masks on but shortly after opening they either had the masks on with their nose exposed, hanging from their chins leaving the mouth exposed as well or just hanging around their necks. I did remind them about this and one look shocked and another pulled it up then as he walked away pulled it straight back down. Now onto what this review should be about is the food which definitely did not disappoint. We had the £11.95 offer which is on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesdays. This consists of any starter, any main, any side dish and either rice or naan bread. The food came out hot and tasted really nice. We left with most of our mains and rice as we were full after poppadoms and starters. The portion sizes were bug to say the least. Excellent value for money. The food was finished off with a complimentary drink. As said the face masks aside this would easily be 5 stars"

"The Lily is a solid Indian/Bengali restaurant.They have a good variety of dishes and do them fairly well.I like the decorations of the place, it has that old intimate feel you seldom find in London Curry Houses these days.Service is fine both if you are eating in and if you get food to take home.They have a delivery service but it is better to take-away as the one time it was delivered to me the food was cold.I think it has a good standard that has been maintained over the years but is not really among the top places in its price range.In the area it is probably the best of its kind but I would not travel for a meal specifically."

"unless they are served by the owner who is very pleasant and checked for them, then they expect the service to be simply okay. When we came in, we asked if the place was child-friendly and had high chairs. the soft spoken server that welcomed us, said yes and said he would sit on a four personish. we had then given our menus from the other server and when we asked about the high chair again, he said that the restaurant has no high chairs at all!"

"I would like to start off my review with praise for the staff and the decor of the establishment. I absolutely loved the unique decoration of the inside of the restaurant, from the strobes of multicoloured lights, the glass mosaics and drawings and the Afghan Styled (as I had been informed) seating in the lower end of the restaurant, which was not made for our family style but we are very sure is much appreciated by those who do use it. The staff was very helpful for my visit, I would like to thank the waiters and the hosts who were always alert for their kind hospitality, as well as the chef 's for their nice food. in my most humble opinion, the food was very good, though could be improved.
