"Terrible service and very rude manager. Our family of was seated in the conservatory on a windy and rainy Sunday lunchtime. Unfortunately the table was placed in front of an external door which was opened and closed by waiting staff and the manager at...least times during our meal. Needless to say this was very cold and windy and sent napkins etc on the table flying each time. I politely asked the waitresses twice if there was another way they could access the table in the outside seating area. They apologised and at times used an alternative route but still continued to frequently open and close the door. Our own waitress Eloise was very polite and as helpful as possible in the circumstances. She offered to move us to another table but by this time we were half way through our meal and the kids were fully settled. Despite speaking to waiting staff twice the manager (who was amongst those continually opening the door) avoided eye contact. Eventually a guest from outside opened the door to come in and a large gust of wind ripped it off its hinges, knocking over a standard lamp on to my year old son. My husband tried to help the waitress lift the door back on to its hinges to no avail. At this stage the manager came over to try to fix the door and my husband made a comment about it being opened and closed so often on a windy day. Our waitress moved us to another table so the children could finish their desserts. The manager then came over and accosted my husband for speaking to him about the door! When my husband replied that he had avoided us until another guest broke the door and my son was hit by a lamp he simply walked away. No reduction in the bill or apology. I expressed to the waitress that we appreciated her help but the manager is terrible. Food was ok. We will not be back."

"my favorite café in norwich! the personal is beautiful and welcoming and the coffee is excellent. I recommend the Arabic salate, and although I have not yet tried, the cakes look amazing. no more sticky chaincafés for me, sahara has me under his magic."

"Ok let’s be honest. I am French and in my country you don’t mess withy food. The restaurant itself is classy and tables are not too close to each other which is really nice to have a quiet chat. Service was perfect and the food… the food! I had a yummy chicken breast with hazelnut and truffle and the desert was so yummy! All for a very reasonable price. A jewel"

"We decided to book a room at Wivenhoe house hotel for my 26th birthday. We were greeted by Gabrielle, who said happy birthday and got us checked in. I added to the booking that it was my birthday and was pleasantly surprised to see the hotel room decorated when we arrived. What was even more surprising, is that my boyfriend decided to propose there and then in the beautiful hotel room. From then on, we were treated with a full red carpet. We asked for some Prosecco to be brought up, and were greeted by Vusi, the Front of House Manager and Lionel, who I assume was in charge of the restaurant. They arrived with chocolate covered strawberries and a warm congratulations which was wonderful. Lionel also assured us not to rush in order to make it for our dinner reservations but to take our time, which was lovely. When we went down for dinner, we were greeted by Vincenzo and Lionel who helped us open our Prosecco (we failed to get the cork out lol). We were swept away to our table which was decorated with small crystals and our meals were amazing, especially since our Prosecco was topped up all evening and displayed beautifully in an ice bucket. We received these beautifully displayed plates that said Happy Birthday and Congratulations. It seemed that all the staff were aware of our celebration and we received many congratulations. We went back to our room and ordered some hot chocolates which were lovely. The next morning, we decided to have breakfast which was a beautiful spread, after breakfast, we decided to head back to our room to relax and we decided to finish our day off with afternoon tea. Afternoon tea was wonderful, We were greeted once again by Vincenzo, who assured us that we could come in before our reservation time, The table was decorated once again and I received a beautifully decorated plate saying happy birthday with chocolate covered strawberries. We said goodbye to all the staff and checked out, It was lovely to say goodbye to Gabrielle again who checked us in. Our stay was magical and wonderful. Every member of staff that we met made us feel special and at home. The red carpet was pulled out and we received such special treatment. We have decided to return for my Fiance's birthday at the end of the month because it was that wonderful. Thank you once again (Apologies if I have spelt names wrong)"

"As two mummies of young boys (her of two, me of one), Emily and I couldn’t have chosen a better day to plan our overnight escape to Melville Castle, which is located on the Southern tip of Edinburgh towards Dalkeith. The sun was virtually splitting the trees as we drove up the private approach road, and as it happens, trees are something the lush grounds are pretty flush with, the bucolic setting a mere 8 miles from the city centre. A neo-gothic mansion house, it was designed by James Playfair (brother of William) and built between 1786-90 for Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville. By the 1980s the building had been abandoned and was in ruin, later bought and restored in the 1990s by developer William Hay who wanted to bring the property back to life and run it as a hotel venue."

"Slack customer service. Three staff on and one in the back who was responsible for baking, whom of which obviously wasn 't doing her job as I witnessed 2 separate customers asking for the vegan sausage rolls only to be told they would have to wait 18 minutes because someone had forgotten to put them in the oven..during the lunchtime rush too. Always customers out of the door waiting for staff to get their act together and always running out and empty trays due to not being on top of their game. Disappointing."

"I had a great experience at this restaurant tonight! The staff was very friendly, especially the young girl who was extremely helpful and offered to change my drink if I didn't like it. The place was clean, so I felt comfortable sitting there. It's a lovely place to grab a quick snack."

"What a disaster! I booked a table through OpenTable for 8:30pm for a surprise Valentine's meal. After traveling almost an hour to get there, we arrived at the restaurant only to find it completely empty. I approached the bar and informed the barmaid about my reservation. She went to get the manager, but I overheard her mumbling to a colleague, 'oh, f#?k'. The manager, who was extremely arrogant, came out and told me that the kitchen was closed. I insisted that I had a reservation, and he asked if it was through OpenTable, to which I confirmed. He then arrogantly stated that he decided when to close the kitchen, blaming OpenTable for the issue. I argued that it was his responsibility to inform OpenTable if the kitchen was closed, especially since they were still taking bookings. My reservation was clearly on his list, as he showed me on his iPad. This ruined the one night my partner and I had planned to go out and have a good time. I will never use OpenTable again, nor will I ever visit The Hide at the Bull. "

"adult festive afternoon tee was ok, a lot of sweet choice compared to the hearty. child festive afternoon tee is not very child-friendly, especially for the food of the edifice. the sweet selection was was wasted, as they only ate the cookies and the meringue snowmen. sandwiches were simple and simple. the service was very bad, very slow, waited an hour and a half for our food. children were in hunger. it took a long time to get our drinks too. they also had no kinder drinks, which was a shame. the personal was pleasant enough, simply not very fast. the ballroom was breathtaking with all Christmas decorations."
