"Excellent range of goodies for afternoon tea. Tables well spaced out. However the whole experience was spoiled by the lack of staff. Took 10 minutes for someone to come to the podium to take us to our table. There seemed to be plenty staff there at that time. Order went in about 5 minutes later. Coffee pots arrived in 10 minutes then a further 20 minutes for the food to arrive. Staff then disappeared a full 20 minutes until a member of staff appeared again. Had to attract their attention to get a refill on the coffee. It may be they were dealing with live in guests but as people were booked in for afternoon tea there should have been dedicated staff to cover the diners there. The food choice was excellent haggis bon bons were amazing. The poor service let it down."

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The dishes were a bit too sweet for my liking, but some diners may enjoy that. They offered a good alternative to sausage rolls as I cannot eat pork. The service was excellent and I would definitely come back.

The mix of savory and sweet flavors was improved compared to my previous visit. It was not overly sweet this time, which I appreciated. There were a couple of dishes that were a bit heavy on the stomach. Additionally, there was an excessive amount of chocolate on the menu, with three or four items containing chocolate. I would have liked to see a fruit mousse or other non-chocolate dessert option. Despite this, the food was still delicious.

Adult festive afternoon tea was okay, a lot of sweet selection compared to the hearty. Children festive afternoon tea is not very child-friendly, especially for the owners of the eaters. The sweet selection was was wasted as they only ate the cookies and the good snowmen. Sandwiches were simple and simple. Service was very bad, very slow, waited an hour and a half for our food. Children were hungry. It took a long time to get our drinks. They had no children's drinks, which was a shame. The staff was pleasant enough, simply not very fast. The ballroom was breathtaking with all Christmas decorations.

"Three star hotel? Only in price! The Redgarth exceeds all expectations. Our favorite hotel of the trip, wish we could have stayed an extra day. Huge parking lot, beautiful garden set in the peaceful village of Oldmendrum. This boutique hotel with just 6 rooms is nestled in an upscale neighborhood. Our Deluxe Double Room with Balcony was very spacious with comfortable chairs and coffee table, desk, king sized bed, shelves, and nightstands. The bathroom was similarly large with tub/shower combo and plenty of room for our personal toiletries. The hotel and rooms were tastefully and colorfully decorated. We stayed in the “Yew” room (loved this, being a tree-lover). The front view was of the staff parking lot (not busy) and the neighborhood. The back view from the bathroom was the wider view of the valley. The room next to ours (Ash) had a better balcony out the back. One of the best features of this room was the skylight with light blocking shades so we were still able to go to sleep at a reasonable hour amid the late sunset. We were able to walk from the hotel around the town though a car is required to get to Oldmeldrum. The restaurant was excellent. The bar offered a large selection of Scottish made gins and whiskies. This was a favorite spot for locals. The owner and host, Stuart, is extremely welcoming and friendly—we felt like family! Dinner was excellent. I had the Sunday roast—marvelous. We chose to eat both nights’ dinners at The Redgarth. Included breakfast was cold—fruit and yogurt and then pastries, cheese and cold cuts—very filling and fresh! We highly recommend this hotel."
