"We popped in a few days ago with our granddaughter for refreshments having walked around Winchelsea in the sun and were pleasantly surprised by the secluded well maintained beer garden at the New Inn. A few days later we thought we'd visit again for lunch, my wife quite often orders a prawn cocktail from the chain type pubs and is normally pretty much under whelmed. However the one she ordered here which admittedly included crawfish tails was to her mind the best she has ever had. Just the right amount of chopped salad of cucumber, cherry tomatoes which wasn't just lettuce from a bag a good portion of prawns topped with crawfish tails and finally a superior home made sauce along with quality bread and butter triangles. I had fish and chips, it was cod and a decent batter and chips none of which were greasy. The only very small detail were the petit pois garden peas which were slightly lacking in taste although they were superior to the ones normal restaurant's serve. The staff were lovely and attentive checking on our enjoyment of their food. We definitely plan on eating here again."

"I recently dined at this restaurant, and unfortunately, my experience was far from enjoyable. The restaurant used to offer a fine dining experience, but it seems that they have recently changed their approach. They have increased the prices, cut down on food portions, and lost their appetite for customer service. I ordered the kabab rice, which was priced at £10.90. To my disappointment, when the dish arrived, there was hardly any food on the plate. I was shocked to find that I had to pay an additional £3.50 for a small portion of rice, which I felt was quite unreasonable. Overall, I have to say that this place is a complete rip-off. The food portions are minuscule, and the prices are exorbitant. The customer service is severely lacking, which makes for a rather unpleasant dining experience. After this disappointing experience, I can confidently say that I won't be going back to this place."

"Korean cuisine is new for me. It's been so trendy lately with the Kimchi burgers, Korean barbecues and Bulgogi mentioned everywhere, it was time to try it. "We visited Phil You Up after reading reviews online and am sad that we’ve left it this longer to finally try them out. The wait for reasonable and I noticed that people were turning up having pre-ordered which seemed like a great idea. I had the chicken masala wrap as a meal deal. The wrap was delicious and a generous size filled with salad. The chips were well cooked and it good quality. Nice and hot. Staff were friendly throughout. I would thorough recommend Phil You Up for a quick lunch on the go or a cheeky takeaway when you just don’t fancy cooking. Very tasty"

"This place does really good Persian food. We started with Salad Olivier, houmous and salad. We had chicken kebab, meat kebab and I chose Gaymeh. Delicious. Portion size is good.They also do a great trade in take away kebabs and appears to be a favourite with customers from the local pubs.Price are really reasonable. They do not serve alcohol.I really enjoyed my meal, as did my friends. Forget the glitz of nearby restaurants and come here for great food."

"Myself and my family booked in and was looking forward to a nice family meal, arrived 10 minutes early and was promptly shown to table and offered drinks Kids starters came and was ok, however main course meals arrived, all good except mine, king prawns in garlic I had to cut/ jack through them with a steak knife Then my ribeye steak and mushroom was to say the least cold, my partner had ordered medium well so can only presume mine had been sat on the pass for a while) The lady serving us was quick to offer to replace the prawns, however the steak was only mentioned when the plates were being taken away Most disappointing was the lady was left to deal with everything and the management didn't come and speak to me or even acknowledge that there had been a problem Not great to say the least"

"If you want to have excellent dim sum with appalling service I highly recommend. The restaurant and bar are lovely and have a great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The reason why the service was so poor was because we were charged for a bottle of wine we didn't purchase and when we asked the staff to refund the amount they ended up charging 2 more of our guests extra instead of refunding it. When we addressed this we were accused of lying when we provided proof by receipt to show we had been charged again in error. After lots of back and forth, we received the refund and a loyalty card. Because of this issue it completely ruined our dining experience. I think the situation could have been handled much better by the staff and it's a shame because it's our local restaurant."

"Great place, it can not recommend very enough! Service is very friendly and efficient, meat cuts and burgers are perfectly cooked and tasty and the cocktails are as good as in many high-end cocktail bars in London. In fact, I want to personally thank Lele, Zelman's Head Barman impeccable skills! Nothing was too much trouble for him, even if we left the menu. With some of my favorite places that are now closed for pandemic, like Roka's Shochu Lounge and Blind Spot, Zelman Soho is currently the top of my list. Keep the good job guys! "This is an excellent restaurant that I highly recommend! "The food ordered was delicious. Having lived in the Middle East for many years the food tasted authentic and transported my wife and I to those fond memories. Service was friendly and efficient and the non-alcoholic pomegranate mojito was delightful. The restaurant is broadly over 3 floors we sat downstairs but on a warmer evening the upstairs outside terrace would be fun. The atmosphere was inviting, comfortable and felt in keeping with the genre of the food. My biggest bug bear was that the two key dishes I was keen to try were both unavailable, and whilst i enjoyed the food I ordered I spent a reasonable amount of money on what was my second choice. It shouldn’t have, but soured my evening. The food and restaurant warrants a return, and I would highly recommend- somehow need to be certain my first choices will be available!"

"A very pleasant, clean, simple but relaxing place to sit for coffee breakfast lunch. A decent menu with all food well cooked and nicely presented. Decent ketchup, not the nasty cheap vinegar tasting type. Coffee was good. The staff are kind considerate and happy to help and plenty of smiling. I had a warm welcome and pleasant chill while there. "We stopped by for a late lunch and received royal treatment! The food was absolutely delicious, ranging from a spicy salad to the lamb mookhiya and the authentic Egyptian koshary. Our host, Saad, took incredible care of us and even brought us a special dessert (not on the menu) featuring warm mashed dates and sweet pastry that was excellently recommended! "visit cafe zizou is a real pleasure. the staff is immediately friendly, and they are also welcomed by the varied and interesting selection of cakes, of which I choose a caramel button. I decent disc that is not too sweet, but could be a bit more generous on the chocolate upstairs. my mother's cappuccino is on, of her as exceptionally well described, with a lot of foam. the tee of my father is a beautiful golden color, probably thanks to its pot with two tees bags, how very generous! Overall we really like it. I would come back and try one of their french town themen sandwiches, or their freshly pressed lemon juice. cafe zizou is a truly authentic unpretentious French caffe. "Food was ok but sadly the service was poor. Some of the menu was not available which is sort of understandable. When as asked for a croissant we were told the last one had just been served, as it was only 11am we mentioned maybe to look out back and see if there were any more to be had. We were given a strong no, there are no more just to see 15 minutes later a whole tray of them on the counter top. Just seemed lazy service and when a new waitress took over our table it was no better, there was no attention to us, we had to try and catch her eye each time we wanted something and it then felt like it was just a bit of an effort to get us what we asked for. After all of this, I would still go back and give them another chance as the food was good and it may just have been one of those off days."

"Had lunch at the Swallowtail with my partner and elderly mother. The view from the restaurant was lovely, looking out onto the yacht club and river Crouch. The staff were very friendly and extremely efficient. The food was fabulous. We had great starters and plumped for the sharing platters between the 3 of us (fisherman's platter and mixed chicken platter) the food was hot, fresh and very tasty. And although we all have great appetites we had more than enough delicious food. We did manage fabulous deserts. My mother is not too good on her feet but this was no problem as there is a lift to the first floor restaurant. We will return to try more of the menu and are happy to recommend"
