"Picture it, Saturday brunch time last week…the restaurant was nearly empty but for 2 tables (4 patrons total). The heat must have been broken because it was freezing and when asked if they would turn the heat on the waitress brought a tiny space heater…the type you may use under a desk in an office. These should have been red flags telling us to leave but the decor was cute so we stayed. The mysteriously stained cloth napkins also would have sealed it if we’d seen them from the beginning. We started with tea as it was still very cold where we were seated. The Dozie Girl special blend sounded nice so that’s what I ordered. The waitress indicated she wasn’t sure they had it so I said ok if you don’t, I’ll have the peppermint. The tea arrived with the paper tag and string still bundled around the bag sitting in the cup of hot water…not a teaspoon, sugar, or honey in sight. We asked but they never came. Ok, maybe a mistake, I mean we’re only in England it’s not like you should know how to serve a cup of tea. Then came time to place our food orders. Turns out they didn’t have 2 out of 3 of the fish orders my brunch companions and I wanted. So we all had the Gambas (prawns). We also ordered the manchego truffle fries, pardon peppers, and broccolini. Oh, we ordered cocktails too, prior to the food orders but they came some time after the food and they were fine (no complaints on the drinks). The food however left a lot to desired, like flavor. I was searching for taste with every bite but by the time I finished the 3 prawns that came on the plate I could not find any flavor. Pardon peppers were fine. Fries were disappointing as the waitresses talked them up a bit the cheese wasn’t even grated properly and the broccolini arrived cold. I’m not sure who was in the kitchen but one of my brunch companions theorized that the B team was on and it wasn’t that they didn’t have the ingredients for the other dishes, it was that the person didn’t know how to prepare them. I’m not ready to give this much credit. If you do decide to stop by make sure you’ve eaten before and order cocktails but be prepared for the 20 to 30 minute wait before the drink is in your hand. P.s.: the toilets "

"Stopped coming here a year ago because of many issues, but reluctantly retuned early June to find the place had transformed back to what i remembered from years gone. Warm and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was a plus the staff were so friendly one Emily in particular. We as a family thought new owners had taken over. As the management seemed different and to be fair the food was amazing. and despite the cost this was a treat that was truly worth it. We all couldn't wait to return. However fast forward a few months we all returned as a group to be so disappointed in the whole experience. The atmosphere we loved seemed to have disappeared and the feeling of warmth had gone. service was average but the food was so below par. we decided to ask why this had happened but was met by rudeness on a great scale by a young man claiming to be the assistant. Who claimed no one else had complained so what was the problem. No apology at all. We were goin to ask for a full refund but my wife decided to leave as she was too upset. The Manager came out as we left. too late if me and my whole party were concerned. I'm sure he was the Chef before, Perhaps he should return to the kitchen. This has always been considered a treat at the bunk what with the cost of living crisis. But myself and my friends will now spend our money somewhere else where you can get real value for money where people know what customer service and standards really are and your given that feeling that you would love to return. Here none of us will return and hope this review and experience may help others when thinking of treating themselves or using those extra pennies that are precious. Have no idea what is goin on here what a disaster. We all felt Cheated."

"Stunning Hotel in the absolute best location in Nottingham City Centre George Reception at Lace Market Hotel Nottingham is the main reason for my 2 day stay this past weekend being a super positive experience for me as a hotel guest. Cons: The room, my room was exceptionally warm/stuffy. I am severely disabled (STBI) so I become very easily overheated anyway so when Room 36 was like Sauna Mojave Desert had a baby, I suffered. George brought to my room a bucket of ice which was incredibly thoughtful and even fixed my early 80 's air conditioner unit which cooled the room down to around room temperature in the end. Stairs only around the hotel and like everywhere you go so leaves any Guest feeling Olympics-ready just getting to their room. No door in the hotel has any way of opening them 'cleanly/hygienically aware/germless ' with each handle needing to be pulled more forcibly before the door becomes ajar. A disabled button to press to automatically open the heavy doors would be miles better than what Lace Market Hotel Nottingham currently offers. TV is lower quality picture and sound. Programmes are very few and not becoming of a 4 star hotel. The bathroom suite is lovely, but I felt like I needed an Engineering Degree to figure out the Taps. x3 of them with absolutely no clear instructions labelled on any. So you cannot run a bath without the shower head also dripping. Summary: Lace Market Hotel Nottingham is a 3 star hotel in a fantastic location in Nottingham. I paid £207 for two-nights which comparatively to other hotels throughout the world I have guested in, was notably more expensive. I was safe, felt safe and it was clean in the hotel and my room. George at Front Desk was the highlight for me."
