"Unfortunately unlike many other’s who have kindly posted reviews on here, our experience of Afternoon Tea at The Chesterfield was rather disappointing. The staff were very attentive and courteous and I really appreciated how welcome they made us feel. Unfortunately for some reason at our seating on a Friday at 4:30pm there seemed to be an issue with a shortage of cakes/pastries. When the afternoon tea came out, understandably there is not enough room on the tea stand to put out 3 of each type of cake, so I just enquired whether one of each type of cake for the three of us would be bough out later and the waitress said we could have more sandwiches and scones if we wished. I said thank you, we have one of each of those, it’s the cakes I would like more of please. I got the same reply offering more sandwiches and cakes. Just to clarify things, I said was I expected to cut each cake into 3 small pieces then ? She looked embarrassed and said I could ask for more of the one’s we enjoyed the most. I left it for a while and once we had had our thirds of cake each, when the waitress came back and asked which we enjoyed the most, I said the small pink cheesecake, could we have 3 of those please, again I was meet with the offer of more sandwiches and scones. I did not want to ruin my eldest daughter’s birthday treat anymore by making a fuss, so I didn’t pursue it any further but did contact the Manager a few days later regarding our disappointing experience. He suggested it was all a “miscommunication issue” on my behalf, that afternoon tea was an unlimited eating experience, and they only bring out a certain amount of cakes, so not to create food waste. This was clearly not the case, as everyone else at the sitting took home their uneaten items in food boxes provided by the hotel, which is usually the option when you go for afternoon tea and the kind waitress gave us 6 extra scones to take away with us, also extra sweets, trying to restore some joy to a very underwhelming and frustrating experience."

"among a large number of fried chicken restaurants, almost food joints and numerous bangladeshi restaurants is a rustic Italian restaurant with an excellent environment. on Wednesday afternoon for lunch I was amazed to see a style similar to that of a first class restaurant. the restaurant was relatiw full for a Wednesday afternoon in mile ende. the menu consisted of a few dressed in different categories that you would see in any Italian restaurants, but with a higher complication. the waiter came to explain the daily specialties that burrata with black truffles shave up and spaghetti with truffle both for reasonable prices. my friend ordered a margherita pizza that arrived with basilikum and parmesan cheese on the side. the pizza was thin crispy crust with a delicious tomato sauce, a simple dish, but prepared for a very high standard. I ordered the rabbit ragout, which was also very tasty and the pasta came al dente, I also ordered burrata with black truffles, both were very tasty. there was a formal environment with a dedicated wine menu. the waiter explained to me that the restaurant was only open two months. this restaurant can be seen as a hidden gem in mile ende and is definitely recommended to appreciate the good hearty Italian cuisine. prices can be slightly high compared to the surrounding restaurants, but for the quality of food and the ingredients it is definitiv a trip and worth the money."

"Booked afternoon tea here for a family of seven, based on reviews which raved about the warm welcome, possible tour of the house etc. I was looking forward to learning a little of the history as well as having a tasty afternoon tea. The welcome...was far from warm. We arrived just as a harried young man dashed past us without acknowledgement on the phone. We then waited at least minutes, somewhat awkwardly in the empty hallway until he finished his phone call. He then said ‘Afternoon tea?’ to which we nodded and he escorted us straight to the dining room without another word. So much for the warm welcome. We were then quickly served with teapots and stands of afternoon tea. Food was ok, some high points and some low. A member of staff asked us if we were ok about minutes in, which we were. However, I had read in previous reviews that extra tea and sandwiches could be ordered, but we never had the chance as no-one returned for the rest of our meal. There was no way to attract attention, we may as well have been alone in the house. Having pre-paid for our meal, we then left, having looked around for someone to say goodbye to. Not a soul on site. It really was the most dreadful service. Extremely transactional. A bit like Mac Donalds, really. I’m sure the owner manager would be appalled to hear how badly we were treated at what purports to be a five star establishment. We won’t be returning."
