"Chose dishes, my choice was not available, we were not told this when the menu was handed out. Bread was stale. Main course took an hour to arrive. When it did arrive one plate which was burger and chips was cold. Baked salmon was under seasoned but fine apart from that. One member of staff who looked a key member was very scruffy and not dressed professionally. We aired our disappointment at the food , (as were other customers)the manager did not come over to apologise to us or other complaining tables but did knock the price of the wine off. Thank you."

"This was our first visit we tried it one rainy Sunday after shopping 3.30pm.(We have eaten in the restaurant previously and loved it). As a result it was very quiet with only another couple eating and a few having cocktails. The menu was limited and perhaps some dishes we ordered we might not have selected on a larger menu but the food was absolutely super. We could only manage a starter and main course no more room. Risotto was superb. Shame not more busy it didn't spoil our visit"

"Decided to try here as we were stopping at the Holiday Inn Express. Was surprised to see such a big bar area and a bit disappointed that there were numerous TV screens placed around it all showing football. Whilst this isn't advertised as a Sports Bar , it clearly is which means our table conversation had to compete with the TVs and the cheering guests at times. Surprisingly, the restaurant wasn't very busy and our orders were taken quickly and efficiently by very friendly staff. None of us were disappointed with our food but neither was anyone over the moon; it was just alright. There is an interesting selection of food on offer with a bias towards spicy and the katsu curry seemed a popular choice. We were a bit taken aback by the 10% service charge even though it was discretionary so beware. The staff were very polite and attentive but this may be because they weren't very busy so we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Overall, this was not an unpleasant experience but I doubt we'll be returning."

"I am very happy with the food I had for the first time at nr. 35 mackenzie walk. it looked very good and tasted even better. I was not too sharp on the sausages in the house breakfast, but everything else was delicious and cooked for perfection. beautiful setting, both inside and outside, but we felt that the staff was a little distracted. maybe a stressful Sunday? service was fast, although the restaurant was quite empty. the prices were a little high £13 for eggs royal in a casual room seemed like much, but we had a nice time anyway. all in all, recommended. go back."

"The service was poor and extremely slow. The food was overcooked and the salad was dry. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I will not be returning."

"Being from Australia with no knowledge of where to dine, a former colleague from Durham recommended St Vincent. We checked out the menu on line and decided on a 2 course meal special between 5:30 and 6:30 for GBP24. Our very charming waitress from Lithuania thought we were from down under and chatted knowledgebly about life in Newcastle. She was a delight. Our entree of sea bass carpaccio arrived. WOW. It was a meal in itself and beyond good. If I could I would have licked the plate. Then our baked hake on a medley of roasted capsicums arrived. Hake a boring fish, yet brought to life by the accompanying capsicums was enjoyed by each mouthful. The hake crispy on the outside and tender on the inside was clean yet filling. Do yourself a favour and dine at St Vincent. Oh and the wine pretty good too"

"I enjoyed both the breakfast and the birthday lunch that I had recently that I wrote straight to Trip Advisor to recommend Cafe Rouge in Bury St Edmunds. The food was not 'run of the mill ' but was well cooked with imaginative touches and just the right amount. My friend and I chose three different items on the menu and we were both delighted and our waitress was charming and helpful. Your booking system is so easy and I had the opportunity to ask to sit in a side room as I can hear better. When we arrived we were automatically shown to a table where I had asked without any fuss. It was a thoroughly good experience which I shall repeat."
"We used to dine at this restaurant frequently and enjoyed the great food, child-friendly environment, quick and friendly staff, and good value. However, during our recent visit on Mother's Day, my wife arrived before me and struggled to get a pram through the door while the manager watched without offering assistance. When we tried to order, we were informed that half of the menu items were already sold out. My wife's filet steak arrived overcooked despite ordering it medium, and when she brought this up to the server, they just shrugged it off. The service was slow and lacking attentiveness throughout the meal. To top it off, we found errors on the bill before payment, adding to our disappointment. It seems like there may have been a change in management leading to a decline in the quality of both the service and food. Overall, our experience left us feeling let down and we won't be returning in the future. It's disheartening to see a once great restaurant go downhill, especially on a special occasion."

"only an occasional Saturday evening, but we were warmly welcomed. service was excellent and eating tasty and as described. we enjoyed our cocktails and felt not rushed when eating came at reasonable intervals. recommend this restaurant. it is also really nice to be able to use Tesco points, not the feeling that we have paid on the drinks when eating with goods and it was so easy to organize."

"I give neros 5 stars because I think it is the best of the great national chains (I would dieucks next door and costa last. retail) I blow this mainly on the standard and the variety of food, not on the coffee (as I am not a big coffeemaker park.) which I am going to keep seems quite clean (in contrast to some of their competitive dog I have allowed the update: That's brilliant! I know some people are nervous about dogs, but I have never been a dog in a caffe, pub or restaurant bad behavior. they stay quiet with their owners."

"booked online, had confirmation email, but when we arrived, it was not booked. no probs have a table. I ordered a chicken flour that I would press as a breast, but actually was on the bone - my fault not to check. a piece was in order, the other piece was so hard I couldn't get it out of the bone. I ordered eaton mess for desert that was in the grunde a court of yogurt with pieces of meringue in it. the service was good, the poor food."

"my friends and I enjoyed the 3-course party set menu 21.5) and it is certainly a good example for Mediterranean cuisine for a beginner I had the supposed fresh king skallops', served in a citrus juice. a bit cheesy, but definitiw a good choice for the starter. for my main course I decided for the restaurants recommended underwriting court, confit lamb. the lamb is slowly boiled and then pressed into a cylindrical shape. the meat melts on the rim and is very succulent a good place to go for a group dinner, reasonable price and a wonderful worth. make sure to make a reservation!"

"Celebrated my birthday with family, food was nice but expensive for what you got. They had ran out of the wine we wanted, which was a shame as we'd booked for 5pm so it wasn't like it was late at night. Service was ok but we had to ask every time we wanted something, no one came to us to order drinks etc. The bill was £20 overcharged for things we hadn't had. Wouldn't rush back to be honest again which is a shame as the restaurant looks so lovely and we had been really looking forward to it."

"Cafe Rouge is a classic and welcoming restaurant with plenty of space and friendly service. However, on Mother's Day, it was extremely busy and there were some delays in serving. Despite some complaints from other tables, the waiter worked hard and was apologetic. The French onion soup was delicious, but the medium rare steak was overcooked, which was a letdown. This restaurant is child-friendly and a great place to spend a few hours, despite the mishaps. I would definitely visit again."

"We used to frequent this restaurant often because of the great food and kid-friendly atmosphere, with quick and friendly staff making it a good value. However, our recent experience on Mother's Day was disappointing. When my wife arrived slightly before me, the manager watched her struggle with a pram and did not offer to help. Additionally, half of the menu items were already sold out by noon. When the food did arrive, my wife's medium steak was overcooked and solid. The server did not address her concerns, and the service was slow overall. We were also overcharged, which I thankfully noticed before paying. It is disappointing to see the decline in the quality of the restaurant, likely due to a change in management. Our experience left us feeling ripped off and put a damper on our special occasion. Unfortunately, we do not plan to return to this restaurant."

"Pleasant staff, tasty food but so slow. Table booked and arrived at order taken with hardly anyone in the restaurant; first course arrived and although very tasty the mushroom vol au vent had been microwaved and gone cold with soggy pastry. Main courses, after reminding waiter, arrived at with an apology. We were due at theatre at so no dessert! House wine very pleasant and set menu meal good value."
"Sadly quite disappointing. We booked here for our work Christmas meal, only a small party and even pre-ordered hoping it would make it alot easier. There was confusion where we were sitting so we had to change tables but only after we saw our name tags on another table not by the staff. We waited 25 mins to be asked for drinks and an hour for the starters which were only for 2 of the party anyway. This meant for most of us we waited an hour and 20 mins before our main dinner arrived. We entertained ourselves as we after the first order of drinks came we never saw any member of staff til the starters. There were 2 larger tables, 1 not pre ordered, who received their whole meal before we had our deserts who seemed to have staff quite attentive to them which made us feel even worse. The food was delicious and I would give it 5/5 but for your whole party to feel starving and alittle deflated made our work evening out quite miserable. When we asked member of staff how long til our mains, we just replied with they're very busy and that was it. We felt like we were getting told off and felt uncomfortable to approach them again. Even when paying at the end we waited 15 minutes as they kept rushing in and out to clear just 2 tables that were left upstairs, no other customers, we just felt abandoned the entire time. I even got marched back into the restaurant after being told we had not paid enough. To clear we did, we just left a smaller tip then what was on our reciept but the embarrassment was humiliating."

"We had a brilliant 40% off main course voucher which made the meal very reasonably priced. Unfortunately we booked our table at Cheshire Oaks when the Christmas Lights were turned on and Radio City had a band and disco on. Café Rouge did not have enough staff to cope with demand leaving us waiting a while for our starter, main course and drinks. Could not fault the staff. The did their best and remained cheerful but were just overwhelmed by the amount of people wanting feeding. Would go again but plan the time a bit better."

" while. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, I tried the steak frites and it was cooked perfectly. The prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and I will definitely be returning in the future."
