"I booked the table on line, but when I showed a member of staff the confirmation from opentable there appeared to be a problem. We were given a table, then another member of staff asked to see the reservation and claimed that they didn't know that they were with opentable for bookings! They said that they wouldn't ask us to leave and they would look into it!! There were a lot of things off the menu and it appeared that there was a problem in the kitchen! This is the second time that they have taken quite a lot off of the menu, better planning and management is required."

"Regrettably, the restaurant seemed to be understaffed. Despite having a booking confirmation on my phone, they had no record of it. We waited for an hour and had to remind the waiters of our order. One person waited a long time after the rest of us were served before getting their food, which was brought out in three separate runs from the kitchen. Unfortunately, we were not the only ones experiencing issues - there were complaints from other diners throughout the evening. This was disappointing considering the restaurant has been a staple in the Pinner area for over 20 years."

"Wonderful place. Always feels celebratory even for a glass of wine and a light bite. Have gone back time and time again and never once been disappointed. The only qualm I have is that I hate service charge being added to the bill. The staff are uniformly fantastic they really do make the place and I'd sooner the guarantee of handing them their tip myself at the end of the night (having worked in service myself I know just how easily the process of incorporation can be abused, and how the servers themselves can end up missing out on money they have earned through skill and hard work."

"Called in after a very busy day around the shops. Very warm welcome and they cleared a table for us within a couple of minutes as we hadn't booked in advance. We were just at the right time to order a cream tea which was delicious. Beautifully served in silver tea set. Fresh scones with jam and cream. If you are visiting it is definitely worth booking in advance as it was quite busy. Good toilets. Very welcoming and attentive staff . The lunch menu looked very good as did the ala carte menu."

"Upon arrival, there were only about six people in the bar area and nobody in the restaurant. The atmosphere was lacking, as it was a large and cold space. We were asked if we wanted water for the table, but it arrived to be split by the waiting staff. They mopped up without offering to take our drinks or food order. After waiting 10 minutes, we were finally asked what food we wanted and requested a drink order. After 5 minutes, they returned to check our drink order, but still did not take our food order. Two more couples were shown to their tables before our food order was finally taken. The food arrived quickly and was just okay. We paid the bill, which had already been entered by the waiting staff, so there was no option to deduct a service charge unless we asked the staff to do so. Overall, we will not be returning or recommending this restaurant."

"Oh my goodness me. Did we have to wait long for drinks or did we have to wait long for drinks! Hard to say whether it's the fault of the restaurant, just down to the times we're living in or I don't know, but we were waiting for 30 minutes and our first drinks hadn't even arrived and our food arrived before they did. The number of tickets for drinks to be made at the bar was as long as your arm, my arm and everyone else's arm put together. It did seem to get a bit quieter around 10pm, we were there at 8pm and it was mental! Food was lovely though, and the drinks were nice when we did get them!"

"Great meal attentive and friendly service, beautiful setting and fantastic wine list. I got served prosecco in an old fashioned champagne boat which I loved. We had the lobster burger menu which is a pretty good deal for £15.50 for a whole lobster. Only slight criticism is it was a touch cold and the portions of chips are very small (but probably the size we should be eating! . The desserts are incredible! Best I've had in ages, really inventive. Only thing was the whole thing was about £40 a head which is a lot. But the wine was good and we had two courses..."

"Visited on Saturday evening with family, we had an 8pm booking and arrived in time but asked if we could go to the local pub for a drink first which was all sorted no problem. Service was excellent and made the evening really enjoyable. The location of the restaurant overlooking the river is very pleasant and if you wish and there is space there is the outside deck and upstairs balcony for alfresco eating and drinking. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced, we will return."

"My husband and I visited Café Rouge in London on a cold, wet January day. We had booked a table for lunch using some vouchers and were happy to be greeted warmly and shown to a cozy table. The restaurant was bustling with customers, which was a promising sign. We decided to try the lunchtime specials, starting with a warming bowl of soup for me. For my main course, I savored the delicious moules frites. My husband enjoyed the steak frites and indulged in a scrumptious blackberry and apple crumble with ice cream for dessert. The attentive staff checked on us multiple times to ensure everything was to our liking. We were pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the bill and plan to use our vouchers for our next visit. The ambiance was friendly and inviting, and the food was tasty. We would definitely return to Café Rouge."

"The restaurant was cozy and inviting, with friendly and attentive staff. Despite being two elderly ladies, we were not seated in a neglected corner but instead given a lovely table by the window. The chicken dish we ordered was incredibly tasty, and I look forward to returning to have it again. Overall, our experience was very satisfying."

"This is probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. First of all when I came in with my reservation I was told by the waiter that they didn't had my reservation since their preferable partner was Bookatable not OpenTable. In the end the sorted out a table for us but we were 6 people and got a table for 4 where we then ourselves could sort out 2 extra chairs at the end. The service was extremely slow and not very friendly and the woman behind the bar really took her time and was acting like she couldn't be asked. We told them from the beginning that we were going to a concert but depsite that we had to chase for the food 3 times. Even worse when we then finally got the food it was cold so have clearly been sitting there a long time without anyone serving it. This was both my first and last time at this restaurant I would rather eat a sandwich from Tesco than going back here."

"Unfortunately we had to re-order our drinks three times as the waiter and waitress kept serving us with Cokes with Ice instead of Bacardi and Diet Cokes with NO ICE and then suggested we just take the ice out with our fingers ! It was minutes before we got the correct drinks. However the food was as good as always and I was able to use my Gourmet Card for the discount."

"we enjoyed our first visit in the re vamped abode. eating (big French onion suppenstarter for both of us and shattered fish chips for me and roast chickens for my partner) was very delicious and beautiful presented. there were not many diners and the bar area was empty, so not too much ambiente, but the dinge did not spoil. the employees were very competent and delivered a large service. only that which was not too sharp was a bit cold, it seemed that there was an air cone unit on our table. it was not an important thing, but they could do with making the place something cosier."

"The waitress wasn't very friendly and when I asked if the house wine was a dry wine, she told me (in a very curt manner) that it was just house wine. When I asked what the house wine was, she replied (again with a condescending tone of voice) , that it was just house wine. She then got somewhat frustrated and merely placed the wine menu in my hands. The wine menu clearly stated that the house wine was a dry, fruity Compte wine. My elderly mother had pea and mint soup (but she could not taste the mint) and a dry piece of stoneground bread, with no butter. The lunch was meant to be a treat for her and was quite disappointing. The other two meals were fine but not very exciting. I haven't visited Cafe Rouge for many, many years and was looking forward to it, but I don't think I'll be coming again."

"A group of 6 of us dine together every Wednesday evening, and we frequently choose Café Rouge in Hitchin as our spot. Given that it was Valentine's night this past Wednesday, we opted for the special menu, which we found to be quite enjoyable. Despite the restaurant being fairly busy, the service was not impacted."

"We decided a night away was in order as we wanted to do Christmas shopping without fuss and it's been a long time since we've had a night away. So.. Checkin was fine. We received welcome pack detailing WiFi , checkout etc Then came time to go to our room, this is where the review starts. We were situated on the bottom floor, room or So we go through two security doors and to what feels like the hotels dirty secret as this was a small corridor tucked away at the rear next to a security door that made you jump from inside your room each time someone used it. So once inside the room we are greeted to a very pleasant, clean room with one major issue. Where is the view? Oh there isn't one. Instead we open the curtains to discover a red and black brick walled courtyard of sorts. Now I know a view isn't always a guarantee but I'll get to that So we drop in our bags and leave to do the last of our shopping and enjoy the time away from kids that we have we are back at hotel, back in the room and within mins we've heard security/fire door ft from ours slam shut multiple times. So I ask at reception and they are booked out, no other rooms available. OK Next morning after a not awful but not great night's sleep we leave early. I make a point if saying to front of house staff about door and heat of hotel as it was extremely warm but that's not a big deal. Only to be told that I should have asked for a different room. I did and was told you were booked solid So we paid nearly for a night in Glasgow, we had what my wife described as a dungeon bedroom, with no view and a near by door that would have woke the dead. Would we stay in this hotel again? Sadly no. The room we stayed in should not be used for guests paying ridiculous prices or anyone really I can't describe rest of hotel as we didn't go lurking I absolutely hate leaving a negative review on these things but we were just so disappointed. Hopefully this gets to the right people and it doesn't happen to anyone else Thank you Date of stay was"

"we always enjoy cafe rouge. it is authentic and always reminds us of a caffe in montmatre. eating is exactly what they expect from a French restaurant, so has a nice menu, is well prepared, cooked and served. service was fast, despite the restaurants full on mother's day. hertford is comfortable, set at the rande of a small place and has a few tables. we enjoyed our visit so that we return to the next weeks for a jubilee."

"The dining experience was pleasant, and the staff was friendly. However, there was a long wait for the champagne, and the water could have been refilled more regularly. I settled the bill at the front, but the waiter still brought it to me at the end, which might have been due to a lack of communication among the staff. Overall, it was a lovely afternoon."

"Lovely location, and good weather enabled everyone to sit outside on the sunny terrace. The staff were friendly and welcoming and provided good service, but the food was disappointing. Some sandwiches were dry, tasted as though they'd been made the day before. The waiter replaced it promptly with another dry sandwich. The desserts were small taster size portions (which was fine) but did not appear freshly made. The cream tea part of the menu was nice, but again a very small scone. The gluten free option was preferred over the regular afternoon tea by our group."
