"The waitress wasn't very friendly and when I asked if the house wine was a dry wine, she told me (in a very curt manner) that it was just house wine. When I asked what the house wine was, she replied (again with a condescending tone of voice) , that it was just house wine. She then got somewhat frustrated and merely placed the wine menu in my hands. The wine menu clearly stated that the house wine was a dry, fruity Compte wine. My elderly mother had pea and mint soup (but she could not taste the mint) and a dry piece of stoneground bread, with no butter. The lunch was meant to be a treat for her and was quite disappointing. The other two meals were fine but not very exciting. I haven't visited Cafe Rouge for many, many years and was looking forward to it, but I don't think I'll be coming again."

Our reservation was not found, but luckily they had an available table for us.

Here we have always found a cosy atmosphere with friendly, obliging, and competent staffWith a fairly varied and sensibly priced menu.

The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was served quickly. We were not rushed at any stage and the whole experience was of relaxed dining geared to our pace and not theirs.

Food was considerable poorer than last time I went. The waitress said they have changed the menu so not sure if that means cuts! Service and venue are fine just the food that is poor.

Food and ambience very good. The waitress who served us when we arrived was excellent. However, when she went off shift the waiter who took over definitely lacked the customer service skills she possessed.

surprising for a Saturday night, but that certainly wasn't even arrived. eat good and wee for a bulk material standard chain restaurant. have always enjoyed cafe rouge and not disappointed this time. if they have never been and or have been a little uncertain, please give it a bit. that is short.

On Saturday, my party of eight people booked a table at Cafe Rouge directly through their website to avoid issues experienced with other booking platforms. The process was easy and we had no problems. The food and service met our expectations, as we enjoyed the usual standard of quality. One aspect we particularly liked was that all the dishes were served to everyone at once, ensuring no one had to wait for their meal. The staff were excellent, attentive but not rushed, allowing us to have a leisurely and enjoyable evening. We had such a great experience that we plan on returning tomorrow.

"December 2021: Glad to be able to visit The Old Orchard at Christmas. They always have a real fire going and mulled wine. Unfortunately, they hadn't started the mulled cider yet but, had a hot toddy; both were wonderful. Well done guy's for offering these. The food , for starters we shared prawn salad, very refreshing. My partner had the chicken and leek pie which was yummy. I had the salmon, which was disappointing, dry and bland, the veggie accomplishment were tasty. January 2020: I really like this place and come here regularly. Looking forward to coming in summer. Having been here many times over the last 4 months, I have to say the menu is limited and boring. Very surprised they haven't thought of changing it or varying it a bit. Also wish they had a few more cosy tables and chairs. Apart from the 1st time we came always get put on a small table for 2 despite asking for a square 4 table and plenty being available. The service could be better, waiters don't write the order down and then forget to bring you drinks. Despite the above I still like this place but, it's these things that is the difference between nice and amazing. December 2019: Came here on Christmas Eve and had a lovely evening. September 2019:Went to The Old Orchard for drinks and dinner on a Friday night. I hadn't booked a table so we had to wait an hour and a half. Which was fine as it was a nice evening we sat outside then had to move in due to it getting a bit chilly. Would have been nice if they had patio heaters, I would have liked to sit outside. Blankets would also be a nice touch. The views are amazing. Food was very good, facilities were clean and the staff were friendly and provided a great service. I will definitely be coming back."
