"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The only downside was the slow service, likely due to a high volume of takeaway orders. However, since it was New Year's Eve, this might not be a typical experience. The food, wine, and ambiance were excellent. We will definitely return!"

"1* (well, if I could but I have to give 2* because I was told by my server that the service charge is not fully shared amongst the staff like literally every other vegan restaurant I've ever been to in London, but is retained by the restaurant instead. You can and should ask for the legally always optional service charge to be removed and then tip your server on the card machine or in cash instead. We were given the above information by our server when I asked what happened to the service charge before we paid the bill. Our server was tremendously grateful when we offered to replace the service charge with a tip. The business has since disputed what we were both told at the time in a very aggressive reply that you can see below this review, denying what we were both told by the business at the time, and that none of the service charge is retained. I strongly encourage you to read the wording of this reply below. As for the rest of the it: Like others have said, upon arrival at our booking time we had to wait at the bar to be seated. Our drinks arrived half an hour after ordering, after our starters. Food: the bajan codfish tacos were a big win for us both. The bacon mac and cheese was spot on. The saltfish sushi was nice, though I didn't get any fishiness. The curry goat was in a tasty sauce, though the fake meat was a bit weird and the fried plantain was just two small slices. We had planned to share the curry goat, and we had asked for it to be served with the chillis on the side as my friend couldn't take much spice on the day instead, it was served with extra chillis mixed in, making it inedible to my friend. We mentioned this to our server but nothing was done to rectify it. The grilled roti was oily and disappointing. The banana cake with all the trimmings was overall enjoyable although the cake itself was a little too dense like vegan cakes from a decade ago, and my omni friend wasn't a fan of the ice cream though I enjoyed it. But the whole thing was a huge let down when I asked what happened to the service charge. And the multiple personal attacks on me since, accusing me of defamation when I had merely stated in my review what the representative of the business had told us both at the time, are frankly unnecessary and distasteful. The business had my contact details from the reservation, they could instead have calmly contacted me to discuss my grievance, and corrected the information they had previously supplied. "I Visited here on valentine’s day with a couple of my girlfriends, after wanting to come here for soooo long and always hearing about it. Before attending I read a number of reviews and saw that one of the things that brought this restaurant down was their service and I can say this is very true. Firstly the waitress got my drinks order wrong and it took them a while to replace it even though my friends were on their second cocktails. Secondly me and my friend ordered the same thing. My friend with sweet potato fries and I ordered normal fries. Both came with sweet potato fries. I immediately told the waiter that I ordered normal chips and he said he’ll bring them right out. He never did and I never saw him again. To be fair I think he worked in the kitchen and isn’t really on the front scene. Our main waiter looked extremely tired and over worked. If he could fall asleep on the spot he would’ve. You can tell these waiters/waitresses work very long hours. On a positive note the food and atmosphere was amazing. They had a dj (wasn’t too sure if it was due to the occasion) but that was a bonus. On a whole this restaurant has potential but the service lets it down tremendously. Saying that though I would visit here again."

"My first visit so I didn’t know that it was no easily accessible to those with mobility difficulties. I went with an elderly relative who relies on a stick to move around so the steps down to the restaurant was definitely a problem. Out of a wish to not disappoint, she slowly made her way down the stairs refusing to think about how she would leave. Staff was friendly and the restaurant wasn’t very busy. The food was tasty and we didn’t feel rushed. Will go again and recommend to others but wouldn’t recommend to those with a mobility difficulties."

"The environment was wonderful and staff were friendly and polite. I visited with my mother and they were kind enough to take a picture of us on my phone. The red bean starter was very tasty but the lamb curry main was disappointing. For our palette it lacked flavour and was bland, there were only 3 small pieces of lamb on each plate and too many slices of potato in a watery stew. Next time I will try something else as you can't please all the people all the time. It is still very much worth a visit."

"Found this little gem during lock down it became our regular takeaway on weekends since 2020. Found out recently they have had a refurb and now can eat in!! We couldn’t wait to visit as takeaways have always been bang on from island lounge . To our expectation the dine in experience was so much better if it’s even possible!!!!!! We brought our 10 year old daughter along with us who is a complete foodie and who was so happy during her time here and felt so comfortable they made us feel at home she loved the whole vibe start to finish. the cocktails was amazing and the food was out of this world tried other places in the past hoping for the same quality and experience but was always left disappointed I think I will remain loyal to these guys from now on .. we left full and could not finish everything on our plates (the portions are huge)we was offered to take our left overs home with us but our stomachs could not take anymore in! Even if we tried was ready to explode Honestly the nicest experience and money well spent. My daughter enjoyed the chicken wings we all did. We always play it safe and always order browned stew so definitely can recommend that!! Need to start getting out our comfort zone and trying more items on the menu as I bet we are missing out on so much more!!! We’re already planning our next 1 and going to be coming to one of the bottomless wings and fries on a Wednesday evening so shall be seeing you all again soon once again thank you so much for a lovely night!!!!"

"This was a last minute booking so didn't have time to research other reviews, but I wish I did. The food was awful! Had to send back the cod fish balls due to one being cremated. We were met with disdain when explaining that we could not eat it. The goat was tough and undercooked with no gravy it was basically soup. The service was awful apart from the bartender. We walked out feeling robbed as the prices are astronomical compared to the portion sizes and quality. Will never return"

"The restaurants have good vegan options listed, however after being stung by them incorrectly labelling vegan options I wouldn 't go back. To be fair to them they did admit the mistake, but this was after I 'd already eaten the incorrectly labelled item, and an offer of a voucher doesn 't really cut it when they eradicate your trust in such a way. I 've pasted their reply below: We want to send our deepest apologies, there has been a serious issue with our menus that have been printed. The Dirty Curry Fries do not contain beef stock, however they do contain cheese. This is not what we aim for at Turtle Bay, we have always valued our vegan customers and are working hard to rectify this so that this doesn’t happen again as this mistake is unacceptable. All branches have been contacted, all staff have been informed and re-trained and all menus have had the vegan symbol crossed out. The new menus should be arriving very soon. We will be contacting the Management Team at Winchester to make sure that this doesn’t happen again."

"I love Carribean food and this is by far the best I've had in Manchester. Lovely decor inside the small, quaint restaurant. We had the jerk chicken and the curry goat. The curry goat was sensational and really delicious with a side of macaroni cheese. The dumplings were crisp and the plantain was fresh. The service was excellent and the team working were lovely. We were served by Harrison, Phoebe and Lily and they were all really attentive, they helped make the meal a really special one. The portion sizes were excellent and it is great value for money. I plan on making a monthly trip to this restaurant! I've lived in Manchester for 2 years now and this is by far the best food I have eaten throughout all of Manchester. Highly recommend."

"wow, what a jewel! my wife and I ate on Sunday afternoon on this “plum” of a restaurant. I was amazed to have studied the menu before booking to see that a very large of the dishes in the offer shown free as gluten, something that has now paramount recently been diagnosed with celiac disease. there was a free dish served by popcorn, which had been aromatized with its own wobble the flavor of the restaurant, which was a real tastener. we followed with the curry goat, which served as a generous part, reisbäsen, a part curry goat gravy, jerk ripen, plantain, homemade coleslaw, and fries, who had blown the same twist of hurdles as the popcorn on them. we also chose some of the immersing sauces to give an additional hauch of choking only for the case. we have the idea of ordering also a plastered steak (they know how it is when they are really hungry), but were recommended against this by the dame who advised our order that the portions were quite generous and we had ordered a lot, and moreover we could always add to the order when our food had arrived. we also ordered a bottle of pino grigio to ash it al down. What do you want me to say? this was by far the best tasting and well cooked and served Caribbean cuisine that we have experienced, it was exceptional. we had no place for a pudding, but there was a lot to choose on the menu. When the bill came, we were thrilled and amazed that it all came around 60, which also excellent price-performance ratio. we will definitely be back, I recommend this jewel. enjoys!"
