"I love pubs! How many times do you hear that? I only properly discovered them 18 years ago because in France, although we have our cafes, they are nothing like pubs. I fairly quickly categorised them because when you think about it, they are all different. The best description for me for this one is a town pub full of character. I discovered it thanks to a friend and started going to hold a French Conservation group. I have only had drinks so far and believe me if you are after reasonable prices you have to go to the Gladstone. I have recently paid £2 in another place for a soda and lime. Here they charge you £0.30. And before you ask, no, it's not because it's served in a shot glass. When you enter the premises you will notice first the space. It has got room but you also can decide to sit in a smaller area. There is a fire place which is really nice especially at this time if the year. I went last Saturday to meet with a friend and we decided to have something to eat. If you want a night out but your are on restricted budget this is the place where to go. Ok the menu doesn't give you a massive choice as some do but in fact think about it, it won't take you too long to make your decision. The choice is good and the prices quite low. If you are vegetarian they certainly have thought about you. I am not but to be fair I've always wondered why the choices seem to be so restricted for those who are when eating out? I ended with the chilly beef and cheese. I like the fact you can choose to have it with rice or bread. The serving is good and I really enjoyed it. It was very tasty. The staffs work hard, are very pleasant and easy to interact with which is exactly what you want in a pub. It's a place with great atmosphere. And if you enjoy watching tv in a pub this is certainly the place where to go. It was a very reasonable and enjoyable night out. I'll be back!"

"Went to a gig, was very fun, nice place however the managers attitude was disgusting. We came in before the show Started and we all waited downstairs near the doors as my friend has a disability it 's unnecessary walking for her and her legs could collapse, me, my friends and another group of people where told by staff it was okay to stay there, another staff member said we can 't stand there as we are blocking the fire exit, we said nicely we where told its okay so he went to get the manager. The manager said the same as him, that we are blocking the fire exit and need to wait outside or go upstairs, my friend explained she can 't as she 's disabled and it 's unnecessary walking for her, the manager then turned round and said well you are going to have to walk downstairs to the show anyway so why can 't you walk upstairs she again explained cos it 's unnecessary walking for her as she doesn 't need to go upstairs but needs to go downstairs to the concert. She said well wait outside then and I said if everyone waits outside isn 't that blocking people as well? She kept going on about how we need to go upstairs and that if my friend can go downstairs she can go upstairs, I explained she was being ableist and she said no I 'm not, YOU are blocking the fire exit she then on purpose slams the door into me and says this is the fire exit very aggressively. We all eventually just go outside cos we didn 't have a problem with that its just we had been told two different things and my friend couldn 't physically go upstairs. Apart from that good night and nice bar staff."

"My twin brother Stephen and I were pub hopping around Durham when we chanced upon The Head Of Steam Pub, really pleased about this as I am a big fan of The Head Of Steam Pub chain, one in my home town of Liverpool were my...twin brother Stephen and I are frequent visitors, whatever town or city we visit we always keep an eye peeled for an outlet, this one in Durham was really good. Loved the look of this Head Of Steam Pub, a wonderful interior, pubby decor and furnishings, eclectic wall art, an eye catching serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside plus an upstairs outside terrace, its just a great pub to unwind in. My twin brother Stephen and I were here on a Thursday evening, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, greeted warmly by a very pleasant member of the bar team, a quick study of their real ale's and we both opted to have Motorhead Road Crew American pale ale , these were poured and served in excellent condition by staff who are so Knowledgeable about their beers, we luckily managed to get a table outside were we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great vibe in this busy and popular pub. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, well balanced pale ale, hints of toffee and a delicious aroma and aftertaste with a slight bitter finish, a classic pale ale so tasty and refreshing on such a glorious evening, my twin brother Stephen also gave me a thumbs up to his pale ale. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to this particular Head Of Steam Pub we were totally impressed. This Head Of Steam Pub is easy to locate along North Road. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, Midday till 11pm. A wonderful pub if you're planning a trip to Durham most definitely well worth checking out."
