"There are two Head Of Steam Pubs in Newcastle, one down Quayside and this outlet on Neville Street ,we visited both and I thought this one was the best even though their other outlet is brilliant. Walking in and I knew I would enjoy my visit here, the interior is superb, wood panelled walls,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, tv's to enjoy the sport, eclectic decor and furnishings, nice wall art and there's plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a very cool Head Of Steam Pub outlet. We were here on a Friday, we had just had a great day/ night out in Durham visiting the great pubs in that beautiful town ,we arrived here well after midnight and this pub was packed with a great atmosphere, a quick study of their beer range and we both opted to have a pale ale each, these were served in pristine condition, we just kicked back, chilled out and soaked up the great atmosphere in this busy and popular pub. The pale ale served in here was spot on, a well balanced pale ale, hints of citrus, a big hit of hops, very pleasant on the tongue, so easy to drink, a totally refreshing brew on a hot night, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and soaking up the great vibe in this pub. We ended up staying here for a couple of hours ,we enjoyed another pale ale each and a nice German beer that was out of this world, we couldn't fault anything about our visit here, great staff, wonderful pub and a great range of well kept beers, when we are back in Newcastle again its a pub we will most definitely revisit This Head Of Steam Pub is easy to locate along Neville Street facing Newcastle Central Station. Opening hours are; Monday Tuesday, Closed. Wednesday Thursday, 5pm till 2am. Friday Saturday, Midday till 3am. Sunday, 5pm till 2am. A wonderful Head Of Steam Pub, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area."

This place was busy but there were still seats left. There were busy runs at the bar, but the staff were quick enough to serve. Will definitely be back.

Went in here for a drink as we were staying just around the corner at the indigo hotel. Quite busy with decent atmosphere and staff were friendly enough.

Hada drink before dinner and returned later for the live music, not realising that there was acharge to get into the lower area where the music was on. Went to the upstairs bar for drinks before returning to the hotel

Great place for end of the night. Not expensive and ideal for placement. It's a pub not cocktail bar or a night club. Sit and chat or just fall asleep the staff will wake you up and the staff chuck you out, with sensitivity.

Bad attitude from the barman, £16 for a wine and a pint, I asked how much the wine was, told £9 a glass, I said I thought that was expensive, came back with, if ya drink in Weatherspoons you pay Weatherspoons prices!!! No wonder there was only a couple people in, never again!!! View menu

This place has two pages. Presumably once did some sort of food and don 't any more. Beer was terribly kept and overly expensive and the attitudes of the bar staff matched. All seemed either inexperienced or too comfortable. Particularly the little lad (older, short, full of himself) Club night was so loud it interfered with the music playing upstairs and continuously spilled out to the street where fights broke out and no-one intervened. I don 't think they 've heard of duty of care . The doorman was pointless as he was alone. Avoid if you want something drinkable.

I was really looking forward to having a drink and food with my wife after a lovely day in Newcastle. I unfortunately sneezed when walking towards the bar and caught this in a tissue. The barman was very aggressive in his attitude when I approached the bar to order. The barman raised his voice and told me to sanitise my hands. I understand the caution, however he was truly unpleasant and belittled us in front of other customers and a very unnecessary response. Such a shame to be encountered by unpleasant staff, what was obviously an issue for him and could have been dealt with in a more humane way.
