"Hi we ordered a takeaway legally as per covid ! We live only an 8 minute drive away, we were told 20 minutes for collection and we arrived in good time to no que and left for home at around 20 minutes later ! We ordered chicken pakora which was cold ! A portion of chicken tikka masala and it was grainy almost as though the yogurt wasn’t fresh as the sauce looked sandy and was slightly gritty in texture, we also ordered a chicken Korma and the sauce was the same but also spicy (which Korma isn’t supposed to be). With both mains we ordered fried pilau rice which was also cold but even worse when you opened the containers the rice came out in rectangular lumps and it didn’t want to separate and clumped together. The rice was definitely reheated from probably the day before as we ordered our meal at 5.30pm ish. I ordered from this shop on the TripAdvisor ratings and having ordered a starter and 2 main courses if 1 thing was going to be disappointing then fair enough but for the whole meal to be **** then I suggest the owners have had a big hand in the ratings for their establishment. I also at the point of ordering our meal made a point of telling the guy on the phone that this was the 1st time I had ordered from them as their ratings looked great. I will definitely not be spending my hard earned cash in this establishment again disappointed is an understatement !"

"Considering the price, the meal was poor in flavour; it seems as though the chef thinks that all dishes are enhanced by cumin, and yet failed to mention it on the menu. Now I like cumin, but not in everything, and when we all discovered that each others’ dishes were cumin flavoured it became a standing joke. (To respond to an obvious reply from the restaurant; we are sure that some things on the menu won’t have contained it, we just didn’t have those starters or mains, and since there was no mention on the menu, we wouldn’t have known, so our comment stands). The service was barely adequate and considering the price was not a patch on other local restaurants we have been to, it just did not have the level of attention or finesse. More training is needed. We were unfortunate to be in the same room as a loutish man in a football shirt and his objectionable friend, their wives were lovely and apologised for the behaviour, but the restaurant staff did nothing other than avoid coming into the room and saying, after the family had left, that their behaviour is always bad! Hmmmm, so why were we put in the same room as them, in fact why are they allowed in the restaurant, and why didn’t we get an ex gratia discount by means of apology? Our family dressed up to go out to dinner on 23rd December, we generally do dress up to some extent, but are football shirts the type of dress The George aspires to in your expensive restaurant? If so then you deserve this review, if not then why were they permitted? By all means be inclusive, just recognise the impact that decision will have on trade. So for a £500+ bill for 6 people, it was pretty poor and 3* is very generous, so we won’t be bothering the George again. If we didn’t personally know two members of staff and live in the same village, we would have given it 2*. Everything mentioned is very fixable, let’s see if The George management decides to convince us all that they are fixing it. The new decor is really lovely."

"We decided a night away was in order as we wanted to do Christmas shopping without fuss and it's been a long time since we've had a night away. So.. Checkin was fine. We received welcome pack detailing WiFi , checkout etc Then came time to go to our room, this is where the review starts. We were situated on the bottom floor, room or So we go through two security doors and to what feels like the hotels dirty secret as this was a small corridor tucked away at the rear next to a security door that made you jump from inside your room each time someone used it. So once inside the room we are greeted to a very pleasant, clean room with one major issue. Where is the view? Oh there isn't one. Instead we open the curtains to discover a red and black brick walled courtyard of sorts. Now I know a view isn't always a guarantee but I'll get to that So we drop in our bags and leave to do the last of our shopping and enjoy the time away from kids that we have we are back at hotel, back in the room and within mins we've heard security/fire door ft from ours slam shut multiple times. So I ask at reception and they are booked out, no other rooms available. OK Next morning after a not awful but not great night's sleep we leave early. I make a point if saying to front of house staff about door and heat of hotel as it was extremely warm but that's not a big deal. Only to be told that I should have asked for a different room. I did and was told you were booked solid So we paid nearly for a night in Glasgow, we had what my wife described as a dungeon bedroom, with no view and a near by door that would have woke the dead. Would we stay in this hotel again? Sadly no. The room we stayed in should not be used for guests paying ridiculous prices or anyone really I can't describe rest of hotel as we didn't go lurking I absolutely hate leaving a negative review on these things but we were just so disappointed. Hopefully this gets to the right people and it doesn't happen to anyone else Thank you Date of stay was"

"SO disappointing! When we arrived and said we had a table booked, the table was just pointed out to us. We sat down, but no one brought menus or took a drinks order. After at least 20 minutes one of our party queued at the bar, and when it was his turn to be served was told to sit down and someone would come over. Another 15 minutes went past, then my husband stopped a waitress and asked if we could order drinks. He was told very brusquely that someone would come soon. At this point we would have had our drinks if he'd been allowed to order at the bar, but no, another 15 minute wait. Another waitress spotted that we didn't have menus, so finally brought us some. We had booked a table for 6pm as we had young children with us, but it took so long to order food and drinks, we were there much later than planned. I chose sea bream and saute potatoes, but received sea bream and boiled new potatoes, and when I questioned it, someone eventually came back and said they were saute potatoes (like none I've ever seen or would want I left them). I know it was the time of year, but the place was taken over by huge Christmas parties, which was never mentioned when we booked. Our table was in the bar, so we were surrounded by people standing and drinking, and the noise level was unbearable. When I booked, I said it was for a special birthday, and my son even brought a table decoration with us, so it was obvious what we were celebrating, but no one said a thing about it or tried to make our experience special. We felt like an inconvenience, as obviously they only cared about the Christmas parties. Sadly, this is not my first visit to the Falcon Hotel, but it will be my last, especially as having eaten at another restaurant in Bude the night before where the food was superb and we were treated very well. I know where I will eat in the future."
