"Customer service was bad. The online menu was different from what was presented to us. Our first waitress said that she could make an application to the cook to only be told by a new waitress who accepted our order that this would not be possible. It seems that different team members have different messages to customers. It would have been polite to appreciate the first suggestion and first consult with the kitchen, or from the start to make clear that the online menu was from the date and not to consider an option. We then asked for this new waitress ' council what to order instead. When serving our dishes, it was clearly not what she had described, but she did not recognize it. We called her back and then she admitted that she had the plate description wrong. We had waited for 45 minutes, so we decided to eat it. This also related to our cocktail order as she explained that it came in two flavors, just to say later than the drinks she had that also mixed. I suggest that the staff does not accept orders unless they are sufficiently informed and trained. I would also suggest being open to customers when mistakes happen so that they can change their order if necessary. Keep going. The dumplings were not available. This was only said to us when we presented with an alternative supplement and assured that this was the same price. I would have expected the customers to be informed and the choice would be given if they still have it, let alone pay for it. Finally, we asked for our remains to be packed away to go home. After waiting for 30mins, a waiter admitted that they have no boxes but they would be able to get some of 'nearly door'. We were then informed that our food was actually thrown away. I would suggest that someone is carrying out an inventory check on objects and a clear communication between serving and kitchen staff. It was a Saturday evening and there were two big parties that did not make suitable for a very loud environment for a date night."

I enjoyed my jerks burritos. waffeln were lovely and paella was very tasty. not sure what the sosse was in the tub, but that was also gorj. that eaten so that it is a great victor for me. only one complaint would be more huh in the burritos. that is the only reason for a 4* (but really 4 and half). I am back"

"We had a reservation for 8:30 on a Saturday night. Despite many available tables, we were seated right next to the bar and told we had to sit there. The food was average, but we felt rushed to finish our meal within an hour as they began to close up the restaurant for the night life. If we had known this when we made the reservation, we would not have continued booking. Additionally, when we paid, we were informed that the buy one get one free cocktail offer was only valid at the bar, not the restaurant, even though the waiter had given us a menu clearly stating the offer."

"Kan Pai Edinburgh 17/10/2014 After missing September, The Food Club made a triumphant comeback this month. Although short on the usual numbers we enjoyed a fine meal at Kan Pai. We jumped on the train and met at Haymarket before a short taxi trip to our destination. T’was a crisp evening and our taste buds were bubbling with excitement. The restaurant looked great on the outside and even better inside, we were sat with plenty of room in the middle of the restaurant and able to take in the atmosphere of the tables surrounding us. We started by ordering our alcoholic beverages… as is tradition. We got a round of Sapporo Beer and a bottle of Saki on ice, as recommended by the staff. The menu was fantastic with a great variety of sushi and filled with colourful photo’s, making our selection process very difficult. We went for a wide variety and shared very little with our peers, far too good for sharing. A few members found that chopsticks were a difficult obstacle but perseverance is the name of the game. For one such member he was so good with chopsticks that he attempted the Miso Soup with them……. Instant fail. Another member decided using them as spears was a much more effective method…. One chopstick…… ADVANCED LEVEL SKILLS. The soup was very tasty and a warming treat. It was followed with a selection of bright dishes including Avocado Maki, Seabass Nigiri and some kind of fantastic Crab dish. All went down well and accompanied with a delicate tea pot of soy and a plate of pickled ginger and wasabi. More dishes arrived, Teriyaki Salmon, Squid Ngiri Takoyaki Octopus. Flattering octopus balls, delightful in texture and served with what can only be described as tasty saw dust. Again there was no faulting the quality of the food. The smiles were beaming from our faces as we tucked in. We got a selection of larger dishes to fill us to the brim. A couple of Rainbow rolls, beautiful Salmon Tuna married together with avocado and also the Kan Pai Special roll which was King Prawn avocado rolled together. The Saki was delightfully sipped throughout the night from the small cup like bowls and it was both smooth and warming down to the chest. The Sapporo was as good as ever and very refreshing throughout the dining experience. Usually we like a dessert at food club but the only let down (other than a certain members questionable moustache) was perhaps that they only had ice cream on offer but in fairness it would be wrong to expect a chocolate fudge cake after that meal. Between those in attendance, I think we were in agreement that in terms of food quality this venue stole the show and I would highly recommend to anyone. Very affordable and very friendly staff. We drifted to the Grassmarket for a pint seeing The Big Yin, Billy Connolly on our way. The night finished speaking fluent German and discussing another members receding hairline. HEY DU!!! "What a fantastic little find. I'd been wanting to go to a Carribbean restaurant where you can actually sit down and was so happy when I came across 24 carat bistro online. Me and my husband were celebrating our 5 year anniversary and we wanted to go somewhere different. We were greeted by Jan who was very attentive to us, asked if we would like to chose where we sat. She gave us some good recommendations on what to eat and the specials of the Cajun Mac and cheese were amazing great choice and definitely need adding to your permanent menu. Loved the vanilla rum and ginger beer and the passion fruit rum and lemonade was also a hit. Husband had the goat curry and I had the jerk chicken. Both were delicious we had empty plates. Jan gave us good recommendations for dessert, husband had the profiterole and I had the rice pudding. I loved the pink touch. Thank you. "Just had the most amazing meal at R&M Italiano with my family. The whole experience was perfect from arriving to leaving the restaurant. We was greeted by Vee who immediately made us feel welcome. The decor has an inviting homely feeling and has been decorated to reflect what the food is all about, comfort, unique and wholesome. There was a large choice of beverages to suit all, especially the wine list, superb! The choice of food was vast, from the traditional meat dishes to a wide range of pasta and pizzas. My son had one of the Lithuanian dishes and was blown away with the flavours! There was not an empty plate in site! Desserts were heavenly, oh my!!! Thank you Monica, Ramunas for a truly unforgettable meal, we will be back!"

"the dorshi gets very good reviews that I unfortunately do not feel right. the service is slow and unsupportable. eating is at best mediocre. the dumplings are simply sausage meat with which one is a fish dump, which was pretty. the other dishes, scallops, pork bells or chickens are not worth disturbing. the rice was just cocosy. total a disappointment"

"I was by the day when I was loading and went to check it out. I ordered the mutton curry and a part of jerk chicken. the food was finished with 5 minutes. I am glad that I took it home because I was in a chaos according to the jerk chicken- it was nice and I was comfortable away like a pig in the privag of my own house! the Mutton curry with rice bases was very good with lots of meat. a very good amount of food when considering that it was a small part. next time, I'll order a big one and ask for a few noodles. a punt if you have something else behind you."
