Soft, fluffy Indian bread infused with rich garlic and buttery flavors, perfect as a side to any curry dish.

"alishan tandoori is one of the best Indian takeaway in the colchester range. everything I order from an Indian restaurant or takeaway is pilau rice and lamb madras and alishan makes the best in colchester. I've never been disappointed by them. their take-away service is fast and reliable. I recommend alishan tandoori in colchester."

"I had a fantastic experience during my second visit to this restaurant, just like the first time. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I will definitely be coming back on a Friday again!"

Not professional . Absolute joke and food is narsty .. stay well clear and absolute rip off"

"I visited the restaurant with a large group and the service was exceptional—extremely attentive and friendly. The food was outstanding; I truly feel this is authentic Indian cuisine at its best. Every dish we had throughout the meal was flawless, showcasing incredible flavors and a perfect balance of spices. While it's not the cheapest option, it offers fine dining at a very high standard. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit. For vegetarians: there are plenty of dishes that cater to your needs. As for parking, there is ample space available within The Grove estate."

"The food was good! We ordered a variety of starters/mains, all unique in taste. None of the curries were similar but all different in their own ways. Food came out piping hot (important for us Ordered a mocktail which was exceptional! Had a few complimentary items which was thoughtful. Staff were very accommodating. A little gutted that there were no cheesecakes available but will be back soon try it! Overall good experience."

"This is a slightly weird place. It 's essentially an Indian restaurant, but housed in a seen better days pub. When you walk in you 're confronted by a somewhat scruffy pub bar to your right and a big dining area to your left. It all has a rather shabby air to it. Not only is it rather strange, but it 's also very cold! The heating comes from aircon style blowers above the room, which means that the lower levels don 't get warm. My feet were cold the whole time I was there. As the theme is Indian food, I decided to try a chicken tikka dish with spinach, which was marked as a new dish on the menu. Oh dear, that was a bad choice. The chicken pieces had tikka colour, but virtually no tikka flavour. The creamy spinach sauce was very bland and uninspiring. The poppadum chutneys were good, though. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are good, but that counts for nothing if the food particularly Indian food is bland and lacklustre."

"we just finished our meal (we had a lie because the portions were generous! and it was incredible! as it is a bank holiday, delivery was fast and contactless, as desired. my man called when I'm free of milk and they were so helpful by being over the ones of my favourite dishes free of milk and finding close alternatives for others. it was without doubt the most tasty and softest beautiful lamb I've ever eaten. would definitely recommend and we will order again. Thank you!"

"Overall a terrible experience. Our table of two was joined with another table of four with no space in between, basically cramming as many tables in as they can leaving you with no privacy and practically sitting on each others laps. The menu on their website the opentable menu is not the same as the one given in the restaurant the prices are almost double (dish I ordered was listed as ÂŁ5.50 but was ÂŁ9.95 in the restaurant I would not be surprised if they had a second menu with higher prices to scam those without a deal) Food was very average I ordered a side dish and my friend ordered a main dish both were the same size. But my friend was charged the price for a main but the waiter seemed to think despite it being half the size of a main, that it was indeed a main course. We had to ask to have this sorted out on the bill which was fine as they corrected the price, however the rest of the bill did not add up to the total. The waiter didn 't even bother giving us an explanation as to why this was he clearly got irritated that we questioned the bill and demanded that we could only pay with one card for the table I said we wanted to pay separately and was completely dismissed and told 'one card per table only, you 'll have to pay each other back '. Very rude. If you don 't book online, other diners seem to be offered some sort of discounts on the door (we could hear this as we were basically sitting on top of each other with other tables) Would not recommend. Much better options on brick lane with better service."

"Another return to this lovely restaurant. we were made to feel very welcome despite a busy New Year's Day and less staff than normal. The food is always fresh and delicious. Nice touch having complementary drinks at the end of the night"

"The COVID compliance was shocking. We did not see staff sanitising tables in between customers. Although staff were wearing masks. We ordered 2 Long Island ice teas. There were certainly lacking the alcohol and were very sweet. When raised this with the waiter we were told he had put 50ml of the spirits and next time it will be better. It was obvious that these were not made correctly! We ordered the mixed grill- the sheek kebabs were awful! They were cold and hard, so we raised this with the manager and he apologised and replaced them. The new plate came and this time the kebabs were warm however still hard and chewy. They were not freshly made! We sent these back and the manager spoke to the chef and confirmed it was an error On their part. The wings, tikka and chops were very nice. We decided not to order mains. Staff were great, the manager gave a discount due to the issues raised however would have preferred decent cocktails and food I would not recommend this place as cocktails are watered down and the food is mediocre."

"Food was delicious. I felt that the rice to share was certainly very small and we were eating from the a La carte menu. We asked for desert and a coffee they didn’t have the desert we wanted and the coffee machine was out of order. I also asked for irn bru and they didn’t have that either. Overall was a nice meal, however let down by lack of things on the menu."

"I feel that the prices at this restaurant are too high for the portion sizes. The small cobra beer costs ÂŁ5 and the butter chicken is ÂŁ13.50, if I remember correctly. The chicken was a bit dry. If the prices were lower, I would rate it higher considering it is marketed as street food. For a total of ÂŁ20.50, you could have a luxurious dining experience with multiple courses in India, not just street food. The service was dine-in and the meal type was dinner."

"Following the principle 'good ought to be sought ', we scanned through reviews here on TripAdvisor to look a good Nihari place and found 'Karachi Pakwan '. I called ahead to reserve a table and to get a 'feel ' for the service/people, it went well. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Nofel as soon as we entered the restaurant and seated. We were pleasantly surprised by the inviting ambience, warm plates, clean cutlery and spotless glasses. (You 'd be surprised how rare the last 3 are at Pakistani restaurants) Our host recommended masala fish whilst we 'd wait for our main which we thought tasted excellent. Our main, Nihari with Kulchas was served at our requested time. The kulchas were fresh and perhaps the nicest we had at any Pakistani restaurant. Nihari was good enough, albeit I did think it could have done with a bit of (fat) trimming. Regardless, the taste didn 't disappoint. We had no room to try their recommended falooda (or even a sweet paan) but we shall in our next visit. The restaurant is about 90 minutes drive from us BUT worth it. Our previous Nihari restaurant (in West Hendon) is half that distance but declining service had costed them our custom of 10 years. We shall be returning to Karachi Pakwan for more."

"I had a great time at Masala Gallery. The Long Island Spiced Tea Cocktail was impressive and the food was excellent. The butter naan was some of the best I've ever had - light and fluffy. The service was good and the staff was friendly. The large TV channels added to the atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely visit again. The only downside was limited parking spaces."

"I dined in with three others on February 3, 2022, and had a wonderful experience. The venue was clean, and the ambiance and decor were impressive. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious from the starters all the way through to dessert. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to dine there again. Well done!"

"I had the most amazing chicken masala here recently. I didn't even know this place existed. I had a business meeting in the restaurant and I am very impressed with the food. definitiw one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. they were looking forward to going back there, they also had a nice pinot grigio I forgot to get the name. the person with whom I had pasta and was also very impressed by their meal. as they can see from the photos, it was also beautifully presented."

"The pizza at this restaurant is your typical takeout style - a basic bread base with a variety of toppings. While nothing special, it is still much better quality compared to some other big chains. The curries could use some improvement, as the basic sauce is tasty but the portion sizes are on the small side. The dessert was a bit overcooked and lacking in quantity. Additionally, there was no warning about the meat used in the dishes. On the positive side, there is no additional cost for rice or chapatis. As of the time of this review, the restaurant has received a hygiene rating of 5, which is reassuring."
