"One Square resteraunt at the Edinburgh Sheraton Hotel Was a luscious meal and service!! So beautiful, understated and classy the moment I entered; I felt peaceful and welcome. Rita was main person/waitress.... she sat me. I was dead chuffed ... asked for a malbec and sparkling water upon being seated and voila! They appeared! The malbec was gorgeous. Worth the price... rich blackberry tones, beautiful legs and full bodied. Later I had a second glass! Susan took my order. I wished for a fish starter. She let me know of the x-mas fishcake I could order from the other wee menu. So I did and mussels for my mains. The look of the starter when it arrived was wonderful. Clean, simple and inviting.... first bite... beautiful explosion in my mouth. Truly. The crust around the fishcake -then the fish cake itself- then the goodies underneath... fresh and crunchy...i was delighted. Susan came and asked straight away how it was and i adore this! Exactly how a 5 star place ought be. Check check with customer after a plate of anything put down. It really won my heart AND i was able to share my sincere joy of my first bite of this sumptuous starter. You may think I 'm going on.... go try it. Truly. Oh and lest not forget the colour of the bowl once you finish. Deep muted blue like how the ocean looks underwater!!!! Rest of the time and meals were great too. Sauce and mussels were superb. Loved the portion size of the mussels. Each mussel was open and tasted very full of flavour. Morish. For me the buoancy came from the wee side salad. It was outa sight! Small and mighty! Light a little masterpiece. Mainly Rita was my waitress. It got busy as the evening went on. I appreciated so much the smooth gliding and calm of all the staff. Rita was graceful,kind and genuine. She collected and replaced cutlery at her station quietly and gracefully. This is a skill.... really... it can be jarring when eating in a place and the staff clatter the cutlery and dishes. Rita was superb at keeping the atmosphere. This cannot be understated.... I felt seen and cared for and that it was important in giving a lovely experience to the me and other diners. Both listened so so well. Made my visit lovely. Susan was able to set my mains 20 mins apart as I requested. I eat very very slowly and like a long langiud time when I eat out at 5 stars restaurants. So exceptionally pleased... Ok... another fabby thing... sorbet!!!!! I like sorbet at the end of my meals. I saw it was part of one of the dessert. I asked Rita if i could possible have 2 scoops on their own. Of course she says. It was Cherry flavour! And it was divine! And flowed and married perfectly with my malbec. Full circle! Equally wonderful was Rita, like Susan, getting it that I like everything at a very slow pace. Rita organised that my sorbet arrive when I felt to ask for it. And she came with 2 size spoons to prep my table. Asked if I 'd prefer a small spoon or a large spoon? Tremendous.... choice! Small spoon please. This thoughtfulness made me so happy. Rita is marvelous. Thankyou One Square in the Sheraton Grand Edinburgh for a stunning SOLA evening. I 'd been to see Elgar at The Usher Hall. I had not really liked it but One Square made the day shine."

"Nice view as you'd expect from 33 floor of the Shard. The service was good, the lady who served us was very polite. The duck was nice, my kids loved it, the dim sums were very good, not very keen with how they served the rest of the duck though, it will be nice to give an option for you to choose as how you want the rest of your duck served rather than stir fried them with beans. Yes, it is not cheap, I think it is reasonably priced considering the location of the restaurant. It would also be nice if they have some complimentary fruit or ice cream after the heavy meal. Overall, I'd be happily recommend this place to friends and family."

"only one week after opening and these young have nailed it. they managed to create a spacious but cozy dining room with a mezzanine lounge for more intimacy. the bar is perfect for a fast drink after work or cocktails before dinner and that is before we come to eat! the pulled blackworms are the perfect bar snack and the main menu is full of classy, but with the small own spin. cellular is rounded with a cracking wine list and is sure the way to the restaurant in this part of the city."

"The pre-theater set menu at this restaurant was very good, but unfortunately, our friend arrived at 6:32 and was told it was no longer available. Instead, he had to order a la carte, which resulted in him only getting a soup before going elsewhere for a sandwich. It would have been more profitable for the restaurant to offer the set menu. This was not a good customer experience and hopefully they will improve in the future."

"I've been there a few times when I like the big food very much! Greek, but still don't slander as many others, because everything is very tasteful! salt baked fish especially mentioned! inexpensive for a seabas but great! the main area in the entrance has tight packed tables and lacks in any personality, while the rear tunnel looks great. the attention to the removal of used harness from the waiters was quite a problem and they seemed stretched without a smile over their boobs. will go again with better expectations, as I do well to spread over meraki to all and see if I am right in my views."

"Afternoon Tea. It took 40 mins before we were served a pot of tea, which was half full and lukewarm. We asked for a full pot of hot tea, they then served a full pot of tea (for two people) with only one tea bag, so it was very weak. They apologised and brought a decent pot of tea. At the 60 minute point we were discussing whether we should leave. Shortly after we received the scones and small cakes, but had to wait a further 5 minutes for the sandwiches, jam and cream. The sandwiches were small triangles on ordinary cheap bread. The cream portion was tiny enough for 1 scone, we were given 4 scones so had to ask for more cream. The jam was more like runny syrup. The scones were all plain unlike the advertised fruit and plain. The other cakes were fine but tiny. This was our 2nd afternoon tea here. We enjoyed our 1st visit but after our 2nd experience we will not be returning."

"Outstanding, this is our second visit and it did not disappoint at all. You will not find a restaurant with food of this quality nearby. The staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble, they wear white gloves to serve you. The quality of the wine glasses and the crockery is of a high standard, and as a diner this is important to me. Beautiful restaurant with perfect light levels, love the fact that they bring to you and light your table candle on arrival. The attention to details is noticeable in a good way, remembering who ordered which meal and cleaning down the table between courses. Just superb, a real gem of a place."

"In 2016 the tea was splendid. This time it wasn’t. Both the gluten free and regular tea offerings were poor. My gluten free bread was dry and the few pastries were unimaginative. A bowl of berries, two pastries and three tiny scones, with a small pot of jam and clotted cream on a cake stand.The regular tea also had minimal choices. My expectations were high based on my previous visit. That time, the cake stand was full of delicious pastries and the service was superb. I mentioned this to our waiter when he asked if my visits were comparable. Our waiter was friendly, but didn’t offer to replenish our tea, forgot my wine and disappeared for at least 30 minutes towards the end. It was very disappointing, especially for a 5 star hotel. I do not recommend afternoon tea here and will not return."

"We ordered the £90 steak for two to share for a special occasion. It took an hour for our starter to come out, and the steak was not of good quality, with a tough, chewy exterior and lots of fat. The portion of the steak that was cooked properly was tasty, but overall it was not worth the money. The table next to us had the same dish and it looked much better. We were unhappy with the service as our order was forgotten and the steak was rushed when it finally came out. However, the manager handled our complaint well by giving us a 30% discount on our bill and offering us a delicious dessert. Overall, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, but I probably wouldn't return as the quality of the food seems inconsistent."

"An Atmospheric, Culinary and Interior Jewel! I have lost count now on the amount of times I've visited The Black Friar, every single time it surpasses expectations. Simply put, it's stunning. Every aspect of your visit is taken care for. From the moment you walk in the front door of the original pub front you are cared for and treated to the highest standard. The staff are amazing and genuine, which makes it such a nice time and visit. You are then walked through to the back where your eyes are opened to the beautiful kitchen and back extension. Now match that with the food and the gorgeous setting, it's just the best. The original pub features married with excellent architecture and decor makes it one of the best venues in Manchester. The seasonly rotating menus blow your taste buds and senses away. It's hard not to always have their famous pies, this visit I had the scallops, crispy porchetta with hassleback potatoes. Well, hassleback me there right now!!! Closed of with a decadent white chocolate and Bailey's choux bun and caramac crackling, the flavours, quality of food and presentation were exceptional."

"I love the hotel, I stayed here a few times and it's just nice. the lounge that we had the afternoon is not an exception, it really feels special. the one thing that leaves it down is the temperature, it was glacial! the entire hotel was cold and it is only pampered the experience when they sit for their afternoon tee and to jack and keep up skewed. the choice of eating is nice, I was with my gran who is fussy and they were happy to make sandwiches just for them what was nice. we had to ask for refills of tee and had to wait one for the staff to come and release the table again to ask for the bill, there were only 2 tables occupied, so that I should have been the feeling that the staff should have been more attentive, but most of the time spent in a huddle and don't really talk attentive to their tables."

"We booked lunch for 6 of us, for pre theatre meal. We were shown to our table on arrival, which was at the back of the restaurant, where beer barrels and pizza boxes were stored. We were there about 5 minutes and a delivery arrived, sp for the next 15 minutes the door was opened and closed while the delivery driver unloaded. Our main courtesies arrived and 2 of the 6 dishes were cold. We were told they would be cooked again fresh snd take 3 minutes. The rest of the party had finished their main courses by the time the dishes were replaced. Ambience if sitting in a cold store room and cold food made for a very disappointing visit. ."

"1) for 6 persons. I called to change it to 8, said it wasn't a problem. I called again to change it to 10 people, and they confirmed it was good. I was in the pub, the table was set up for 6 people. 2. Food average, cold maic etc. 3. including service fee on bill, even if they order at the bar and eating is average and too expensive. we said we would rather pay a tipp in cash so that in our payment the service was not included. the service was anyway accused by someone who could hardly put a set together. When asked for a refund, it took a long and rude conversation and ended in the cash on the cash and the cash person stormed off. as they can imagine, the money we had left on the table went back to our pockets."

Also a bit eclectic in the interior design back to the 80's in the conservatory and a different style in the main room with a hotch potch of accessories in the mix.
