"I visited for a Sunday roast and found it to be quite overpriced compared to other similar options, like Hawksmoor. The beef was overcooked, lacking any pink in the center, and the portion size was not sufficient compared to the other items on my plate. The Yorkshire puddings were also a bit overcooked. On the positive side, the mashed potatoes were excellent. However, I would suggest looking for other dining options, as this place is way too expensive for what you get."

Lovey food and helpful engaged and friendly staff. A little noisy which made conversation more difficult than we would have liked.

Great food, helpful staff, great atmosphere. This is the first time we visited with our kids, usually we come alone, but they loved it. Would definitely keep coming.

We were visiting our daughter in Manchester and were all delighted with our Sunday Lunch at the Black Friars. We have passed before and commented on how lovely it looks and we’re not disappointed, would recommend and will be back View menu

This was our second visit to this restaurant, but on both occasions, we found the host to be a bit rude. We arrived early and wanted to have a drink at the bar, but the host kept insisting that we go to our table. However, the waitstaff were lovely, just like last time, and the food was excellent.

Our first time at Black friar and will be returning. The food and service were excellent. Well plentiful and prepared food served by a friendly and helpful waitress (thank you Frederca! . However, the kitchen had run out of several items (at 7.30PM? , including the hamburger, which I had set my heart on. The wine list is good, but somewhat overpriced (a fairly ordinary Vosne-Romanee at £170 .......and again, my preferred choice was not available.

"Hearing about a traditional fish and chip shop in Prestwich, complete with a restaurant and bar, and cooking in beef-dripping with the option for vegetable oil (call to confirm vegetable oil availability), I was compelled to check it out. Upon entering the shop, I found myself in the bar area, with access to the restaurant located upstairs. The bar was furnished with tables, chairs, and stools for those wishing to enjoy a drink or avoid the stairs. It is encouraging to see young people engaged in the fish and chip shop trade, potentially leading to more traditional establishments in the future. The cod, although slightly smaller than expected, was delicious and cooked to perfection. The chips were among the best I’ve had in a long time. The pea fritters, black pudding fritters, and tartare sauce were also excellent. In-house pies were available as well, so I sampled the cheese and onion and meat and potato varieties and can recommend both. There is parking available across the street and on-street. However, the opening hours might not suit those looking for a lunchtime meal, as at the time of this review, the hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM, and closed on Sunday and Monday.
