"The experience was good overall. Unfortunately there was a few downfalls. The starters came out extremely quick and the sausage was overcooked (burnt). No one checked to see if the food was ok and the plates were taken away with addressing us. The mains were nice but WELL over seasoned, half way through the steak had to stop to take on water. We also had an additional dish put on our table that we hadn't ordered. I did say we would keep it (as it looked nice) but the waiter just took it away. the desserts were really nice and the non alcoholic cocktails were fantastic."

"I've personally never had a bad experience at Gaucho. The quality of the food is great personal preference, I also enjoy the ambience and style of Gaucho restaurants. Yes, it is expensive but I think that the whole package is worth the price.Big shout out to the guy at reception that pretty much ran to bring me my card that I've left on the table"

"Visited with my daughter before the Celine Dion concert on 29th July. First impressions were good but things went downhill fairly quickly. We arrived about 5.30 and were seated upstairs. Despite being fairly quiet staff still seemed a bit flustered. We ordered drinks and received the wrong order, when asking for it to be changed the waitress didn't totally understand the problem but eventually returned with that we ordered. We only had soft drinks but just tasted like cheap juice. The food looked lovely, with a good selection, but sadly not as tasty as it appeared. By 6.15 it was getting quite busy and as you would expect the food that was available soon disappeared. Unfortunately they just couldn't keep up with demand at this point and took ages to replenish food, plates and cutlery. People were waiting to be served with drinks and queuing for food for an unacceptable length of time. A few were complaining but weren't getting much response. An apology goes a long way to appeasing people but it wasn't forthcoming. When they finally started to top up the food it was going quickly again so no doubt it would've ran out again all too soon. We didn't hang around to find out once we saw the dirty, wet dishes that were brought out for desserts. That was a bit off-putting so we gave up and left.Probably nice when they don't have as many people to look after but wouldn't go back to find out!"

"Being immediately after New Year and early in the week, the restaurant was only moderately busy and comfortably accommodated our party of 8. The service was attentive and the food was good, albeit expensive especially when one adds in side dishes [chips, vegetables etc] each circa £4 to accompany the main courses. My main gripe is that the wine list is expensive, with the cheapest wines at £35 and rapidly rising thereafter for wines that aren't particularly special, which in turn bumps up the service charge."

"New Years Day the restaurant was busy but didn't feel crowded, Groucho position the tables with respectful space. Our waiter was outstanding, he gave us so much attention from helping us with off menu cocktails and wine selection, to patiently talking us through the meat cuts. We opted for steaks, which came cooked to perfection (not easy to get medium rare perfect but the chef nailed it) with all the sauces which where equally incredible. Advice leave some room for dessert, Sticky toffee, cheesecake and cookie dough are all highly recommended."

"Not very busy for a Friday night, which was great as we booked last minute Asked for a bottle of wine, which took people to ask again and again what I wanted, finally arrived and not quite cold enough. Ordered scallops that were small and over cooked, these were quickly replaced and came back a much better size and tasted great Not offered a second bottle of wine, had to grab a wine list myself. Steaks were very good, blue cheese sauce was a bit too thick However our server was lovely and very good."

"Went for the 30 year Legacy menu , had starter of Argentine sausage, main of marinated steak, mash and fried onions (the chef kindly done them) really tasty. Had dessert of pancakes with dulche de leche sauce and ice cream really enjoyed it. Service first class as always"

"We went as a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children. I must admit the experience was pretty disappointing. The steak was a little over cooked, the chips were soggy (they must have been sitting under the heater for a long time) and the ribeye could have been a lot more tender. Burger was good value, chicken Milanese was over cooked. Service was great and ambience enjoyable. It’s a nice looking restaurant and a seat near the window is recommended, there is always something to look at. Probably won’t rush back."

"Vegetarian Options (Vegan upon request) WHAT WE HAD (3 Pax): 5 A Day £4.75] – Mint, Blackberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Greek Yoghurt and Apple Juice; Radiant Roots £5.95] – Apple, Carrot, Ginger, Celery and Fennel; Golden Mango £4.50] – Mango, Tumeric, Yoghurt and Almond Milk; Full Veggie (Specially Made Vegan) £8.95] – Beans, Spinach, Mushrooms, Avocado, Grilled Tomato and Toast; Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle £8.95] – Avocado, Sour Cream, Jalapenos and Chilli Maple Syrup I came here for breakfast with my friends as they wanted to try the Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle. I did know that they have vegetarian options from the menu we saw the day before, but wasn’t sure if they had anything vegan. It turns out that they did not have any specifically vegan items on the menu. However, the waitress and kitchen was very accommodating and made modifications to the full veggie breakfast for me. It was your typical full breakfast made vegan that was simple and cooked well with fresh produce. I really appreciate how helpful and accommodating the staff were, especially in answering my questions in assuring me it was vegan. Really made me feel at ease. My friends enjoyed their Buttermilk Chicken and Waffle too which was a good portion too. We all loved the juice and smoothies we ordered as well! We also had a look at their cocktail menu which intrigued us. Excellent customer service, good vibes with the bright and fun décor that is still classy, good food at reasonable prices, I do see myself coming back here for dinner/to try their cocktails if I find myself in Edinburgh again."

"I really enjoy dining at The Refinery. I have visited a couple of times now and have always been pleased with the setting, ambience, and staff. However, on my most recent visit, I was disappointed with the price of the main meal and the portion size. I ordered the pan-fried salmon, which was supposed to come with cauliflower for a healthy option. Unfortunately, the dish only came with a few small pieces of cauliflower, and I felt that it was not worth the £13.95 price tag. I would have preferred a larger portion for the price. I find that the mains are a bit overpriced for the portion size, and I would recommend ordering side dishes to feel satisfied. Despite this, everything else about my dining experience was wonderful."

"beautiful, again at meat in the parish for being a family dinner. we all enjoyed our evening in this friendly, welcoming restaurant. from the minute they go, are made to feel so welcome. 2 of us had old fashionable cocktails that were perfect. three of us had made gin tonic available from the good selection of gins. we decided to go with our drinks for brot and olives. we enjoyed soft bowling crab, burrata with parma ham feigen and the wonderful wobbly bloomer served with a delicious wicy mayo. we all went for steak next tasty ribeye steaks perfectly cooked a large size and the bone in rib from the metzgerblock divided between 2 of us. the bone in rib was so tasteful, perfectly cooked and enjoyed with the chimichurri sauce (freshly cubed so well.) we have a delicious bordeaux or 2 with our net! we have with the rice pudding, chocolate orange torte and the selection of British cheese absolutely perfect end of our meal. the staff was attentive, courtesy friendly. this was one of the best nights that we had in a long time and definitely go back."
"Our experience from start to finish was outstanding. We were warmly welcomed by the staff upon arrival, and it only got better from there. The food was exceptional, accompanied by prompt service from the team, just as we expected. We ended the evening with a few cocktails, and the mojitos we had were among the best we've ever tasted. My wife and I visit Windsor once a year, and we will definitely be returning to Meat in the Parish in the future."

"I love seafood, and love watching foodie channels and programmes. For so long now, we've wanted to eat at a place that blew our minds. Howth is great but I have never had the pleasure of a seafood platter like at Matts. We ate it as mains for 2 and it could have been enjoyed by 4 but don't you da4e make it smaller Matt. Just out of this world. I'm not lying when I say I woke up the next day and it was the first thing I thought of, haha its that good. We are booking again."

"We went to celebrate my Husband’s birthday. We booked outdoor seating but due to weather we couldn’t sit outside. But the inside ambiance was equally good. Lady who served us was very kind and friendly. Limited choice on Menu but Lovely food and not overly priced. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Enjoyed the evening."

"I made a reservation for Sunday brunch, not realizing that the restaurant had changed ownership. Upon entering, there was a noticeable lack of atmosphere in the foyer, with no cloakroom staff or concierge as there had been before. The staff were friendly and eager to please, and the food was good. However, we were informed that the Sunday brunch had been cancelled on occasion due to low bookings, and were advised to call ahead in the future to confirm availability. It was disappointing to see the staff working hard while facing a lack of returning customers. The price was not cheap (£45 for adults, £22.50 for kids) and the restaurant was missing its usual buzz and atmosphere."

"Absolutely awful!. So my boss is going off on maternity leave and we decide to have lunch for 10 at Plateau on a £15 deal for 3 courses which sounded like good value. Our booking was at 1pm and we arrived to have a choice of 3 starters 2 of which were salad and 1 soup and 3 mains. We were told on arrival they had run out of steak despite our booking being at lunch time so I decided to have a salad as a main instead! the starter arrive and the salads were not looking fresh! Brown lettuce, over dressed euuggh, although I had the gazpaucho which was good, I decided to change my main to the fish! Service was awful we weren't offered any drinks and then finally asked for a wine...read more"

"I made a reservation for Sunday brunch, but I wasn't aware that the restaurant had changed ownership. When we arrived, it felt a bit off—there was a noticeable lack of atmosphere in the foyer, and unlike before, there was no cloakroom staff or concierge to greet us. While the staff were friendly and eager to help, the experience felt different. The food was quite good, but we were informed that they occasionally cancel the Sunday brunch due to low bookings, so we should call ahead in the future. It's a bit disheartening because the staff seems to be working really hard, yet they appear to struggle with retaining customers. With prices at £45 per adult and £22.50 for kids, it also lacked the usual energy and ambiance one would expect."

"Brasserie Joel is situated in a hotel and quite a few of the diners were residents. It thus felt somewhat impersonal. The menu was standard brasserie fare, with nothing exciting or original, but plenty of tried-and-trusted favourites to choose from. Our waitress was on her first day (which she did apologise for) but spoke virtually no English and didn’t have a clue about the menu, so we could only order by pointing at the menu. When she brought someone to help (a manager I think), he still failed to inform me that the main ingredient of a dish I asked about was cheese (describing it as a Gazpacho). Ultimately the food was well cooked and decently presented, with a tarte tatin being particularly delicious. Next to the restaurant there is a nice bar, which was perfect for a digestif. However, the price, at £90/head (including a £65 bottle of fairly ordinary Pouilly Fume) seemed very steep for a brasserie and there are similar restaurants in the area at a far lower price point."
