"Had Christmas lunch menu December 2017, Christmas menu. 2 course starter main with mint cake and coffee or tea for £1 extra. We all went for the starter of prawn Cocktail-Starter and Carvery Haupt. But where everything started. Prawn Cocktail serves beautiful fresh bread, but with MARGERINE not BUTTER. Very disappointing. Next was the carvery, I chose Beef, although I asked that it be carved from the other end as they were in the middle of the joint and it was very rare and also full of fat, in fact the person who carved the meeting was told by another server, just pull it. And that's what on my plate, my horroor, I asked to replace it because I can't eat much fat by digestive disorder that prevents me from eating excess fat. I actually asked about It was handed over to me that beef should be replaced and every time I asked, I was ignored after I said the apology, you can replace my b after every four other customers were served. It was replaced, but not with any complaints in fact the server was very illuminated. I felt like a fool. My dinner now wait stone cold after so long, then there was no Gravy and no Canberry, mint or horseradish sauce only scrap on the ground. On the tables there were no Christmas crackers, but our waitress managed to find us a few, and then it was time for mint cakes and coffee, only there were no mint cakes left. Even if we have our meal at 12.30 a.m., which was quite early a day we were asked if we would like to dispose of the desert menu that we don't want to order, we had a starter Main so that we could have mint cake for the desert. What a disaster. I suggest that the Toby Resturaunts should not be advertising special festive season menus if they cannot meet the requirement of the diner. I had a nice Christmas dinner last year on the ****, after these years it will definitely be the last time we visit the cocksuckers."

"I am very disappointed by our visit to our local Toby Carvery this evening. I booked a table over a week ago for 6pm on a Thursday evening for 3 adults and 1 child. When we arrived the resteraunt manager (not sure of name but...had blonde short hair and glasses) made us aware that they were being audited so there would be a wait on food. We agreed this would be okay and took our seats, the manager asked if we had any dietary requirements and I have a very specific set of requirements. She said that she would be back in a minute, I then asked another waitress could I see an allergy menu as I wanted to get food from the deck. She said she would see where it was. The manager then came over about 15 minutes later and handed me an ipad for me to do it myself. I had a look and then we were in for a wait until someone came over to do our drinks. Our waitress was new and she looked incredibly overwhelmed with little help from her manager but she did incredibly well. We ordered our food and we went to the deck to get it. I was incredibly upset when the roast potatoes had gravy already on them as this meant I had to have the stale roast potatoes that were going to be chucked away as they are the only ones without beef gravy. Out of all the vegetables advertised the only ones I could have were peas and carrots. All of the other dishes were empty and the chefs seemed less than bothered to change them for new ones. We then asked for a children 's dessert and was told they might have it in but they might not so we waited another 15 minutes for the dessert to arrive. I then asked 3 different waitresses for the bill and was told they would do it in a minute. The manager was rushing around sorting complaints for different tables. We eventually paid for our dinner and on the way out the manager was leant over a table talking to a customer explaining that she couldn 't cope and she needed a break we actually had to ask her to move so we could get through. She then came storming over and pulled our lovely waitress to one side and had a go at her in front of us. I felt very out of place and thought this was incredibly unprofessional. I have worked in hospitality for many years but being pulled up in front of customers is not acceptable. The manager was basically explaining that it was all her fault for pouring the wrong wine and that she had to give discounts and therefore she had lost money tonight. This was a special meal for us and I was incredibly upset and disappointed by this experience. I had to ask the waitress if she was okay as she seemed incredibly shaken by the experience but she tried to reassure me she was okay. From 6pm until 8.30pm we were at the restaurant on a Thursday evening."
