"We typically love dining at the Artichoke, but this visit was a bit disappointing. We had a long wait for the chef to come out, and by the time we returned to our table, our food was lukewarm and almost cold. On the plus side, we always have a wonderful waitress who is incredibly friendly and helpful. She consistently remembers us and provides excellent service. However, a cold roast isn't very enjoyable, which is why I rated the food three stars this time."

The food was good, but the Yorkshire puddings were as flat as pancakes!

Booked for the first time, found it so easy. A good lunch where you can eat as little or as much as you want. Always find the service good, everyone is always so helpful and friendly. Cannot go wrong with a nice roast dinner

Meat server was helpful and the meat cooked well and tender. Would have probably liked more vegetables but overall good value. The only downside is the price of soft drinks when you only want half a pint of lemonade. £2.80 is excessive and more than beer.

fleischserver was helpful and the meat well cooked and delicate would probably have wished more sweet, but overall good value. the only part is the price for non-alcoholic drinks if they want only half an prise of limonade. £2.80 is excessive and more than beer.

The food was good, but the service was average. The Carvery was very busy, and it would have been helpful to have an additional staff member serving. Overall cleanliness was lacking, as there were stacks of dirty glasses at the bar waiting to be cleared. I even had to request a different glass because mine was still dirty.

The food was good, but the service was just okay. The carvery line was very busy, and it seemed like an extra staff member would have helped speed things up. The overall cleanliness was lacking; there were dirty glasses piled up while waiting to be cleared. I had to ask for a clean glass because the one I received was still dirty.

It's a Toby! Average quality roast dinner at an exceptionally low price. Well presented and reasonably well kept food, as usual the gravy station was a bit of a mess but this was towards the back end of a busy Friday lunch session. Would probably benefit from more staff but hard to see how anything could be improved much at these prices.

We always enjoy the artichoke, but this time we had to wait for the cook to appear, and when we returned to our table, our food was only lukewarm. We always appreciate the very friendly waitress who is always helpful; she remembers us and provides excellent service. However, receiving cold food is not pleasant, so this time I gave the meal only three stars.

"We used to go to Whittaker's every weekend when visiting Brentwood, and used to recommend it ,it was always expensive, but it was good food and good service, but for the last few months it is going down hill fast! As soon as you go in now ,and...eventually noticed,we are told it will be ,or minutes wait for food,at this point many customers leave. This has happened every time we visit,so we ordered coffee, when we would have ordered food for four people, well we waited, and waited, for a coffee ,after twenty minutes I went up to the kitchen, and was told it's coming, where from Brazil!!!!!! And then nothing! Caught a waitresses eye and asked again, then we got it,and then told if we were not eating could we be quicker as there were people waiting!!!!! Anyone sitting down was told it was a long wait,so most left! That's money walking out the door! And they didn't seem to care! We discovered the reason for this terrible service,a buy came in with a massive deliveroo bag and left after ten minutes with a massive bag of food, they are now doing delivery and making the deliveroo a priority !!!!! They might think they are making a good living out of this, but the people actually there are money too! And paying extra for the privelidge of eating in. It cost more to eat i than take out! And the last time we were there, they lost our custom,so that was four,we saw another three leave,a other group of four,a couple, and that's customers ,and the as thing was no one from Whittaker's asked the people why they were going,or attempt to sort the problem out. We were sitting by the door and as it opened other customers were calling out don't bother again no staff were Interested. This cafe is packed in , more and more tables, with no room to get up or down from your table without backing Into other people, and nearly sitting on their laps. Not going back ,now they are doing deliveroo, actual customers who want to eat,are getting a very poor service. They have lost our custom for good,"
