"On first glance this looked promising as the menu was clearly marked with gf, and items came out with flags for allergies. However, by the end of the meal I was starting to feel ill and in the night I was running to the bathroom which spoilt the next day as well. We were a large party and some of my colleagues ended up with mixed up orders so there was obviously something wrong that night. Perhaps it is better if you are a small group but beware!"

"Long wait time, food was only ok, chicken avo toastie took mins to arrive with no apology or pre warning that it would take that long when they weren’t obviously busy. The sweet potato fries were for a small bowl of frozen chips...that would have cost about at cost. To top it off, I had to pay prior to receiving my food, so couldn’t even take off the service charge which was slapped on the bill, but not stated on the board. I expected a little more based on trip advisor reviews."

"I visited this restaurant on Saturday (27/10/18) for brunch with my partner. We were very excited as the reviews were quite good. Overall the food was ok, but not amazing, and there were barely any options for people who do not like spicy food. The real problem came when I ordered a coffee and found a hair, floating in it. This was incredibly off putting. I realise that things like this happen but, although, the staff were apologetic, I was given a replacement coffee which I then still had to pay for. I think that good customer service would have taken the coffee off the bill or would have at least offered to do so. There are too many brunch places in London to risk going to this one and not being offered proper customer service. I have had lesser issues at other venues and have been treated much better. Not worth the money."

"The service at this restaurant is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The food is delicious, but be careful not to order too much because the portions are quite generous! My dining companion and I shared two small plates before each enjoying a main course, and I ended up having to take half of my meal home in a doggie bag. The pork belly with potato celeriac mash was absolutely delicious, and I would highly recommend it. The menu may be small, but it is varied and they make changes to it every month, which gives me a reason to come back regularly. The prices are reasonable as well. I am thrilled to have discovered this place and I can't wait for my next visit."

"Our waiter forgot to put down our order. We sat and waited half an hour, no one thought it odd that we didn't order anything and felt they needed to ask. After waiting for so long, we asked if they could check on our food, and that's when they realised they've made a mistake. No one actually approached us and apologised, they just whispered and glanced at us all guilty-looking. One waiter even further asked if we wanted anything to drink (as in, to order more stuff). We were gonna be late for theatre so we just got up and left. No apology offered, no remedies proposed. Very, very, very unprofessional and immature."

"Booking was no trouble and parking was easy and well signed. Entrance fee was as expected. On arrival at the cafe we had to queue next to a sign that said the cafe was closed for a private party. It wasn't but it was facing the queue so appeared to be relevant although out of date. When we were seated it became obvious that we would have to queue again to order food, in the billowing and potent stench of the meaty barbecue for a good 15 minutes. As vegetarians this was not ideal but my mother, who is not vegetarian also found it almost unbearable too. When we reached the front of the queue the order was taken and then there was an odd arrangement where we had to wait to the side of the queue for drinks and then take a buzzer for the food. This strategy resulted in a long wait to order and an unfortunate safety issue for staff coming in and out of the kitchen who had to navigate the edge of a granite table, a queue of people and carry piles of plates. There was potential for something serious to go wrong at some stage but not our concern of course. There followed a lengthy wait for food. From being seated to the buzzer going off was an hour and we were not told of a delay on food on ordering. When the meals arrived, they were average with the flatbread being reheated from an earlier point in the day, very chewy and hard. We ordered 2 meals the same which arrived with quite different ingredients. The children's activity packs included with entry were brilliant to be honest and it was these that saved the day after such a long wait for food. The 2 tables next to us needed clearing and were not tended to until near the end of our meal. It was busy but not full to capacity at the time. I would recommend visiting hoveton hall, but it would be tricky to recommend the cafe unless the ordering and preparation system was reviewed. Will visit next year to see if anything has changed."

"Visited this little cafe for brunch for the first time as we had moved to Berkhamsted recently. But it was packed with so many dogs in such a small place. Surely that’s not hygienic? We were seated by the front door sofas as they had no tables and so many customers were coming in and out with their dogs. One dog even licked my plate and I was disgusted. There is no way I would return to this cafe ever again. The staff were not rude but not friendly either. The breakfast was nothing special and very expensive. The coffee wasn’t great. So definitely nothing to go back for. Didn’t use the toilet facilities so can’t comment on that. Parking was easy as there are car parks nearby you can pay and park."

"I visited this restaurant on Sunday to grab some pastries and coffee. The sourdough bread I had was fantastic, as was the massive pecan sticky bun and the delicious chocolate and almond croissant plait. The coffee was also really good. However, the prices for the bread and pastries are a bit high, but worth it. The service was very slow when it came to making the coffee, almost causing me to cancel my order. Despite these issues, overall it was a great experience."
