"(Delivery) Considering the high rating on Tripadvisor and the reviews of the place we were ready to give Kali Mirchi a go. After quotes of Best Indian and So much flavour being thrown around, we were anticipating a much needed curry. After placing the order and being told it would be 40 minutes, we waited an hour before we called to be told it had just left and would be with us any minute. It came to £19.20 so I gave the driver £20 and was told he had no change! Biting my lip to the sofa we dug in to our starters. The Onion Bhajis were more gram flour than onion and for such a cheap dish to make was surprising. I could taste the old oil which isn 't always a bad thing if it wasn 't for there being too much flour to soak it up. Oily onion bhajis seen to, mains were a go. I love my naan bread and wasn 't all that impressed with the one I had infront of me, the bright red keema filling had all dropped to one side and it was very thin. The pilau rice was nice though, I think they had added a touch of saffron. The Chicken Tikka Masala was average at best and tasted alot like cheese. Not how I would expect, it was also luke warm but did have good chunks of chicken. The lamb jalfrezi was overly spiced and had more than enough green chillies but abit too much oil. Unfortunalty we didnt feel Kali Mirchi had lived up to its reputation and I am a firm believer that food should be a similar standard when delivered, if this is the standard in restaurant then I would be very disappointed to have made the journey. Summary Nothing special, average experience for a takeaway, good portions of meat, but bad balance of spice and flavour. Check your change and order well in advance!"

"Surprised to find this restaurant merged with Red Dog Saloon, which I think deflated the experience a lot. It was hard to distinguish both restaurants apart. Service was extremely slow, the first waitress to seat us was very attentive, the other not so much barely spoke to us even though we were the second table in. We ordered katti rolls; lamb meat, fries, salads sauces were spot on, very flavoursome but the wrap itself was completely inedible, so we only ate the contents of the roll. It was extremely tough very oily, more of a puri than a roll wrong choice of bread in my opinion!Chicken wings were just completely soaked in oil again, after eating we had to stop as it was unpleasant. Also, the strange mixtureflavour of butter got quite sickly after a couple. Again, not sure of this creation.. The mommo’s were lacking taste in general. The pau bhaji was pleasant but lacked salt generally a punch of flavour. Served with ONE brioche bun about kilos of the actual veg mix? Not very traditional or practical. Again, wrong choice of bread in my opinion. I think the masala fries were the highlight of our lunch, which doesn’t really count for much to be honest, as it’s supposed to be an Indian bbq restaurant. Given that the restaurant was completely empty for at least minutes from when my group of sat down, I expected a lot better quality from the food. Won’t be willingly dining here again in the future"

"Very surreal, we had heard the hype, with someone saying it’s the most popular restaurant in Essex right now, so we were eager to give it ago. Booked through the new iPhone app which was very easy. We booked for a Friday night, at what would have been a popular dining time. On arrival, it’s a bit in the middle of no where, but that no a problem, easy parking. The outside looks pretty smart with the big Dusk sign all lit up. We were met at the door by two doormen/bouncers both extremely friendly. We then walked through to the receiving desk and bought up our reservation, before a very over keen waitress dressed in night club attire whisked is to our seat, on walking to the searing area I was shocked that there were only 3 other tables occupied out of maybe 50-60 tables! It looked so strange and the fake atmosphere was so apparent! The place was teaming with staff and they outnumbered dinners 2-1! We sat down and was immediately offered a chip and dips selection. We then looked at the drinks menu.. now before I go on, yes I saw the notice saying ‘bring your own alcohol’, I have been to other places like this and they still have sold some kind of alcohol. Not this place, it a sniff of it bar 0% mock ups. What on earth are they doing. The waitress was almost proud of the fact there was no booze. But believe me this place needs to sort that and fast as before you read on, they are going to need it. So after ordering a couple of cokes we peruses the menu. All seemed fine and the food that was on offer sounded promising. I ordered a lobster starter and my partner ordered some kebab thingy. When my starter arrived it was accompanied by a glass with co2 tablets creating an atmospheric smoke. The waiter then informed me that it wasn’t edible so don’t pour it on my starter. No sh@t Sherlock. The starter had foam added to the top lots of chopped veg and the lobster had quite a few chewy bits mixed in. Taste- bang average. It was a £14 starter. Not a great start."
