"There's so many good restaurants to choose from in Leith/Edinburgh but the Golden Ambal will always be the place to go for dosa. Went with a friend for dinner and unsurprisingly I had a plain dosa for my starter. The chutneys are always delicious but the sambar was the star. I've read online that Indian families will save the sauce from a previous days meal to use as the sambar. In this case it's a simple vegetable curry like a base curry that other curries are made from. It's so good I would be happy with that as a main course. I was looking forward to a lamb vindaloo which was as delicious as I remembered it being. Not only is this a really tasty dish but it also cleared my sinuses and left me with the unique sense of well that comes after eating spicy food. Perhaps a little sweeter than usual but nevertheless delicious. The staff are always welcoming and the service was friendly and attentive. From the outside it looks like there's only 4-5 tables but there's a much larger dining area downstairs. It's also less than 5 minutes walk from the McDonald Road tram stop so very easy to get to."

"We ordered 6 different dishes chosen by this establishment, and I'm sorry to say that utterly appalling was our conclusion. All three of us agreed that it was all practically inedible and disgusting. I was attracted initially by the fact that Nepali dishes were served here including mojo. The momo were inedible along with almost everything else we ordered including the nan bread which was so dried out, it was like cardboard. Obviously not made on site. We are amazed this place has been in business for any length of time. The on Y acceptable food we received out of nearly £40 of different dishes was the pilau rice. Very sad to report this, we has higher expectations. Avoid this place if you like good quality food."

"kismet tandoori, which I should explain to the inappropriate, is an adventurer, no restaurant, is my go-to Indian takeaway in cambridge for many, many years (at least and in all the time I can only remember that disappointed meals. One...was where I had asked for extra seasoning in a biryani, and it had not been added (a disorder in the communication between the receiving cook), and once when a dhansak was under par (usual cook on holiday all the other paints my extra spicy biriyanis and my dhansaks (my two favorites) were absolutely delicious. I have lived in a couple of different parts of cambridge, but apart from a short time after the disappointing dhansak when I visited another facility that subsequently closed, I always go out of mine to give kismet my use. I can't comment on re-delivery as I always collect personally. I like that they better recycle their food in foil containers the portion size is generous and eating is always a good temperature."

"The menu is excellent, and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes. We had someone in our group with a gluten intolerance, but that was no issue at all. I mentioned to the waiter that it was a birthday celebration, and they surprised us with a birthday dessert, complete with a candle and a lovely note! The food was delicious, and I would definitely come back again."

"This is my favourite Indian restaurant in London so far. I've eaten in and had take away from here and have enjoyed it every time. My regular order is a chicken korma with extras such as naan bread and onion bhajis. What I like most about this Indian restaurant over others I've tried is the way they make the chicken korma. They're generous with the chicken and the sauce is creamy and the best I've tasted. Eating at the restaurant is a pleasant experience. The staff are attentive and polite and you don't have to wait too long for your food. The music, lighting and atmosphere is relaxing and the tables are located around the the large window looking out onto the street so it feels very open, yet cosy at the same time. Overall, a lovely eating experience."
"we had never visited this restorative before when we arrived at it not very busy, I think 4 tables were included. there were at least 5 waiters. we have ordered a beer and poppadome and then our order for our main. the dives with the poppadoms were watery, including the mango cutney. we ordered another beer, but our food had not arrived yet, I asked a waiter and he checked with the kitchen and he said it would be 5 miute, we waited 10/15 minutes, but still no eating, so we agreed that we would pay for what we had and go. we talked to another waiter to advise him about it, and he said that eating would be 5 minutes more. we said we were going, as we said 20 minutes ago. we had to go and pay and waited for the bill. all this time, when we bing said that it's coming, but it didn't really appear. the waiter who edited the bill, apologised, but did not offer a good willing discount, although I told him that it was our first visit there so that we ended paying £14.70 for 2 beer and 2 poppadome. When we left the time, we were in there for about 75 minutes. if they were busy, that could be understandable, but the waiters were just about most of the time."

"4/1/22 we three medium-age pescatarians decided on a laune for a quiet meal before place. we wanted something so decided against the excellent fera and chose a restaurant that we had eaten a Sunday midday buffet earlier (but I never looked it over when we came too late and they were dressing some years ago, my fault). when I was young, raised in the 70s, lee high road was famous as for its many Indian and bangladesch restaurants my first curry was a phal further along, thanks to my big brother who introduced me and bombay abe! we looked up their website menu and phoned at 7:30 to book for 9 o'clock and arrived on time to find a modern but completely empty restaurant (it was finally a Tuesday in covid times). the waiter saw us on our bare table with linen napkins and offered us the menu. because the place was empty (with a few food cure coming and going so that they have traded) had the waiter time to explain the menu. it was different and tempting and we chose a lot of directed who ask a few to be spicier than normal. we ordered the well-deserved beer (including a gurkha beer) as the wee were a little out of our league and I would not drink any wine with curry (we never made in indies! we chat a lot and the owner came to join us. we talked about ingredients (asafoetida etc.) and our travel in tamil nadu and chettinad cuisine. in the corner of the room was a picture of joanna lumley with the chef, who was over a sheck. they do much for the next love and serve the needy in lockdown as well as them. we did not notice paying a bit more than average for the dishes than result. we have rarely started, but they looked so tempting that we chose to share the scallops 8.50) and samosas 4.95). we have also chosen the most important courses and pages. in good time the appetizers came and they were beautifully presented with drizzled and lubricated sauces (how is the style today,) hot and tasty! the samosas were only two, but quite large, such a good introduction. the most important courses and sides came together and were also well presented and spided hot. the malabar fish 14.95) was very tasty and very well dimensioned. the thimi vegetable of my friend 10.95) he also found delicious, stuffed with fresh ingredients. the paneer lababdar 10.95 of our friend was also generous and tasty. we have tasted and agreed the dishes of others and our time to eat it, to enjoy every mouth. the accompanying mushroom rice 3.95,) tandoori roti 2.50,) dal makhani 5.50,) amilo piro brinjal 5.50) and say mushroom 5.50) were small portions but well flavored. quality not quantity! during the re-conversation with the owner I have brought to the expression that I thought that her next contest of the babur was a few miles away in honor oak, but there was a sweet one to the (more expensive but well established 30 years ago) two of us were there at his opening night baburs that none of us liked. we have preferred this restaurant in lee. Obviously more people in the house would have helped with the atmosphere and I am sure it is busy with people from blackheath. we ordered the bill and it came with an automatic 10% service fee (regardlessly) at 105. it is more than we pay in the rule, but it seems quite standard nowadays for three people. we left happy and sat at 10:35 o'clock."

"We stopped by for lunch while exploring the area. At first, I thought the restaurant was closed because it was so quiet, but the manager greeted us warmly. We ordered some Bombay-style snacks to nibble on, and they were quite spicy (I usually avoid spicy foods), but very enjoyable nonetheless. My partner's chicken starter was a bit too salty for our taste (we try to limit salt for health reasons), but the chef came over to chat with us and generously offered to prepare another chicken starter right away. He also adjusted our mains to suit our preferences. The mango lassi was delicious, as was the virgin piña colada. The portion sizes were great too (pictures were taken after we finished eating)."

"I thought I would start the week with a curry. Ordered online for a later collection. I fancied a change from my usual mixed grill and opted for my other favourite which is a Thali. Good portion size including chicken tikka, kebab, tikka masala and a lamb curry. This was washed down with rice and a naan bread. The tikka and kebab were quite nice. Well cooked and fairly well spiced. The two curries were ok. Nothing to write home about but perfectly acceptable. The naan was properly cooked and had a lovely flavour There was a lot of it and I was unable to finish it. I would recommend this place if you are after a decent good value meal."

"The food at this restaurant is incredibly delicious! I only tried it because someone insisted that their biryani was the best they had ever had, and they were right. The exterior may be unassuming and the decor questionable, but the service and food more than make up for it. I tried the mixed grill and the lamb biryani, both of which were amazing. If you enjoy this type of cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try!"

"we noticed something unusual in this curry house. there was a female waitress. do you think about how often do you see female waiters in curry houses?? it's not bizarre! Anyway, she smoked hot and was also British Indian. not from bangladesh or where they usually come from. Anyway, eating was great. the restaurant was perhaps a little small, and we noticed that many people came to get away. the bar area was very small, but well equipped. I would give the place eight out of ten and would highly recommend it for people who like spicy food and hot women. only fun. about the hot women!"

"I ordered a takeaway which included a vegetable biryani. Normally, this dish is flavorful and packs a punch, but unfortunately, this one lacked taste and was very bland. If I had been blindfolded, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was supposed to be Indian food. There was no seasoning, spices, or heat at all, making it tasteless. The dish was full of roughly cut chunks of raw onion and the French beans were so tough that they were inedible. This has to be the worst Indian takeaway I have ever had. I am so disappointed because the food from this restaurant is usually of high quality, but not on this occasion."

"This Indian restaurant is always fantastic and one of my favorites in the area. The staff is very friendly and attentive, ensuring that your glass is never empty for long. I had the deluxe platter with a wide variety of chicken and lamb dishes, accompanied by a generous portion of rice. This is perfect for those who like to try different curries or have trouble deciding on a dish. The chicken curry was beautifully flavored and the meat was very tender. We prefer our food on the spicy side, and the staff was happy to accommodate our request for extra chili. The naan bread was always served hot and soft, with just the right amount of butter. The portions are generous and I appreciate how knowledgeable and patient the waiters are in helping me navigate the menu. We have dined here with family, friends, as a couple, and even hosted a private banquet and birthday party in the side area without any issues. The prices are average and on par with similar restaurants. The thali we ordered was one of the more expensive items at around £17, but the selection was well worth it. We even had leftovers to take home the next day. Overall, the dining experience is consistently excellent here."

"The waiters are clean, accommodating and offer excellent customer service. The food portions are good, with delicious and balanced flavours. I would highly recommend the set dinner for 1 if you have a big appetite. Great quality food for an affordable price. The music and atmosphere is cosy, intimate and traditional, which made the dining experience even more immersive. This was our first time eating here but we will definitely be back."

"We went to Zeera on a quiet Sunday afternoon for my Birthday, as soon as we walked through the door the service was very friendly, helpful and outstanding throughout our meal. You could tell the food was fresh, extremely delicious and a great range to choose from. The only minor drawback I could find was the fact of no outdoor seating, as we visited in July this would have been great. However, the waiter that served us ensured the air con was on so it didn't get too uncomfortable. Overall I would definitely recommend Zeera to anybody for a love of Indian food, you will not be disappointment!"
