"The food was excellent, but unfortunately, the service was lacking this time. They were short-staffed, which isn't ideal for Valentine's night. However, the staff was very apologetic and honest about the reasons for the slow service. The lighting was quite bright, with some downlights shining directly in our faces, which took away from the romantic atmosphere. Despite these issues, the quality of the food is always worth the few pounds it costs."

"Our usual place was closed so decided to try out the Shanghai kitchen. Went in and ordered and the food was ready almost immediately (which made me slightly dubious) but still the food was hot so took it home to tuck in. The egg fried rice was beautiful however cutting into the chicken balls they were pink on the inside which is immediately off putting and the chicken in the ‘chicken with cashew nuts’ was barely cooked and slimy. We packed all the food back up and returned it to the takeaway where they refused to give us a refund stating/shouting/arguing the food was cooked fine. The two chefs came out shouting too. Very upset with the service and after 20 minutes finally managed to leave with my refund. Would not recommend unless you’re fond of undercooked chicken and rude staff."

"beautiful place where we sat down, the decoration was very Moroccan and colorful. eating was amazing, there were 4 of us, so we ordered two of the plates to share as starters that were cooked to perfection. all netzen were excellent we had steaks, lammkofta and chicken kebabs all served with reischips. my only criticism would be that the service was a little on the slow side by saying that it would not stop me going back there. if they are in the opposite, I would recommend this place."

"We dined at Bengal Bertie's near Ally Pally station in London and enjoyed our meal, but I probably wouldn't go back. The curries had lovely flavors but lacked heat. The service was good and attentive. I had heard that this restaurant offered cheap food, but I found the prices to be on par with other typical curry restaurants."

"We recently had the pleasure of dining at Diwali on George Street, and it was truly a wonderful experience. Our group of five was promptly seated, and from the moment we sat down, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with beautiful décor that sets the perfect tone for an evening of delicious Indian cuisine. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our meal. The menu offered a fantastic selection of dishes, and each of us found something to love. From the starters to the mains, every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The spices were well-balanced, and the portions were generous, leaving us fully satisfied by the end of our meal. The butter chicken, in particular, was a standout dish, rich and creamy, and the naan bread was some of the best we've had. Service was impeccable, with our server being both knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to our needs without being intrusive. The pacing of the meal was just right, allowing us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed. Overall, our experience at Diwali was nothing short of excellent. Whether you're a fan of Indian cuisine or looking to try something new, I highly recommend this restaurant. We left with happy hearts and full bellies, and we’ll definitely be returning for another great meal."

"My wife and I ate there last Saturday. We had booked for 18:30 (the earliest possible) and were shown to a lovely table by the window and beside a radiator which was a bonus as the night was chilly. On the surface, the menu appeared...traditional, but the food was splendidly prepared and presented. Our constant fear nowadays is the prospect of 'nouvelle cuisine ', but not a bit of it here: portions were on the generous side without being brutish and destroying the elegant ambience. An interstitial sorbet was served between the starter and the main course. My wife had the chicken and I, the pork both excellent, with mouth watering sauces and a small dish of 'al dente ' vegetables. We shared an Eton Mess to finish. The price was £28 for two, £32 for three courses not cheap, but we only had one glass of wine (I was driving) which kept the cost down (the wine list looked fine cheapest bottle £19.50; only two reds served by the glass). The service was friendly and efficient. Covid restrictions applied, so the small dining room actually felt spacious though still intimate: there were only two other couples dining when we were there. Thoroughly recommended, and we shall return."

"We visited this restaurant during a short visit to Aldershot. We were looking for a cuisine that we hadn't experienced before and chose the Dhaulagiri because it was a restaurant, rather than a cafe with a few tables, which many of the Nepalese eating places in Aldershot seemed to be. It was very welcoming and the menu was explained to us by the very helpful staff member. I have a dairy intolerance and he made sure I only chose food that I could eat. The onion bhajis were huge and very tasty. Our main courses were just as good with very tender meat. We were given a complimentary drink at the end of our meal. Prices were very reasonable and if we lived in the area, we would probably become regulars."

"I recently dined at a charming Turkish restaurant that offers reasonable prices and has friendly staff. We were pleasantly surprised to receive complimentary pre-starter nibbles of bread, salad, and olives. Everyone in our group of 14 thoroughly enjoyed the food."

"I have been a customer of this restaurant for 6-7 years, primarily ordering takeout during odd times. However, I have noticed a decline in the quality of their food recently. When dining in, they take care in preparing the dishes and the food is nice. But when I order takeout, it seems rushed and the food is not as good. Last night, I ordered 3 curries and they were all watery and unappetizing. It was difficult to distinguish between the different curries as they all looked the same. Additionally, the salad was warm, which was not ideal. As a long-time customer, I believe the restaurant should pay more attention to their takeout orders, as these customers are just as important as those dining in. I hope they can improve their takeout service to maintain their loyal local customer base."

"If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would. Ordered takeaway at 6pm for Father 's Day dinner. I expected a bit of a wait. Several calls made before we got the food at 9.30pm!!!! 9.30!!!! We had an update by text saying 'food was delivered '...errr....nope...so rang restaurant... it 's on its way they said...but still hadn 't arrived an hour later. Rang restaurant again... driver messed up . What? He 'd soiled himself? Taken the blue pill instead of the red? What do you mean???? Food arrived but Chicken Tikka Makhanwalla was very tomato based not beige, creamy or cheesy and the Chicken Tikka Masala tasted and looked exactly the same. Same dish??? Extremely annoyed at the time it took the excuse being It 's Father 's Day . We weren 't ordering a banquet... nor for all the fathers in Crosby and Waterloo! It was simply 4 mains and a naan. Won 't EVER order from you again. Food cost £48. Utter disgrace. No offer of a refund or partial refund after complaining."

"First night away with partner and first evening meal out of hotel. Staff at Salt Pepper are very friendly and very attentive to your needs (brown sauce for the missus was a plus ! Cannot fault the the quality of food…for starters I had...the salt and pepper prawns which were mouth watering delicious. My partner had the green lipped mussels…well I persuaded my partner to part with one. They were outstanding and were the biggest and tastiest mussels I have ever clapped my eyes on..staff advised they were locally sourced…I would highly recommend. For mains we both had the ribeye steaks (medium well done) and were not disappointed, the steaks were tasty and very tender and well worth the price. I have had many steaks in many restaurants and often find they don’t live up to their pricing but at S&P our compliments go to the the chefs and the staff. Overall a great food and eating experience, the backing music consisting largely of classic 80s soundtracks which was a bonus and gave a real relaxing vibe to the evening….we will be back before the trip is over!!! Thank you S&P for a great dining experience!"

"The portion sizes are on the smaller side, especially the spinach ricotta ravioli, but the food was indeed very flavorful. I would advise against visiting on busy days or weekends, as it can affect the quality of service. There’s an impressive selection of wines from around the globe, but be prepared for steep markups: for example, a bottle available for £35 in the shop was priced at £62 for dining in the restaurant. That said, the wine was of high quality and was decanted to avoid sediment."

"Funny this place hasn't been noticed too much so far. The other restaurant perhaps it's branch on Ditchling road that has the same name has got nasty reviews, but this is for the one on Queen's Road near the station. It's only based...on one visit when I tried the Chicken Sweet Corn Soup and Dry Ribs in Hot Chili Sauce. Both were very good i.e. soup was freshly made and tasted good especially with some chili sauce added, the ribs were very tasty although I'd like the ribs to be a notch spicier, but if you're not used to spicier food you might find it very hot. Szechuan cuisine can be very, very hot is quite a bit different from the Cantonese Chinese food that is more prevalent. Service can be slow if the there are say more than customers sitting in at the same time because it looks like they have only one Chef in the Kitchen. The good news is that he's from Szechuan. Staff are friendly and courteous so I had no issues. It was nice to see the owner's children and wife sit down and eat there at the restaurant although they were eating something that looked very healthy like raw vegetables that stew in a hot pot on the table stuff I generally avoid. Ambiance is basic with some nice red Chinese lamps hanging around, but I guess that's pretty typical of Chinese restaurants. Nothing to complain about. The food really was good and I'm giving them a on grounds of taste, freshness and pleasant staff. If you're fussy about speed then you may rate them differently. I paid about in total for my meal: NOTE boiled rice is extra and you may order as much as you can eat for and there is a service charge added to the bill. I did not drink anything since I generally prefer LOTS of tap water when I'm eating spicy food. Frankly, I'm very curious about why people order bottled water in a place like the UK where the tap water is most likely better."

"Last night, a group of four of us visited Asia Spice and, as always, we were greeted warmly and provided with courteous service throughout our meal. The food at this restaurant is exceptional - very fresh, well-cooked, and beautifully presented. The Onion Bhaji starter I ordered was some of the largest and most delicious I have ever had, golden, crispy, and absolutely mouthwatering. My Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi main dish was also wonderful, light, not salty, and accompanied by the lightest Pilau Rice I have ever tasted. The side of Sag Aloo (potatoes cooked perfectly with wilted spinach) and fluffy Chapati were also delicious. The conversation at our table paused as we all savored our meals. Despite the tempting dessert options, we were too full to indulge. Asia Spice is without a doubt a fantastic Indian restaurant that deserves to be successful."

"Excellent quality north Indian/Mughalai Indian food with good diversity of dishes. Flat breads are all freshly prepared and have a fresh from the oven taste. Nice ambience too. Clean and well maintained toilets. The place was not too crowded for lunch either, probably because there isn't a whole lot of parking space nearby. Probably gets crowded for dinner. Good standard of service seen the two times I've been there."

"We have visited The Massala Hut dozens of times over the years and feel a glowing review is due, specially after last nights visit. As a couple we are massive curry fans and eaten in hundreds of restaurants, both here and aboard, plus I make a great many at home from scratch. We know what we like and what makes a great curry, take it from me The Massala hut makes a splendid curry, in fact (in my opinion) the best in Leeds and beyond. We had their Achari Lamb chop starter that came out sizzling on a bed of fresh onions, that had been cooked to perfection (crispy and almost burned on the outside succulent and tender on the inside coated in a beautiful spicy and tangy dark sauce). My favorite curry is generally a Dopiaza and I love a fish curry (I think there is only two actual fish currys on the menu which I have had loads of times) so this time asked if they would do me a fish dopiaza, not a problem! it was outstanding and went beautifully with a cheese naan. Yes the prices have shot up in recent months (like every where) but this is top class food and have never had a bad meal from here. The service is always great, with friendly staff. Take a bottle of your own wine to drink, order a curry of your choice, the perfect meal out!"

"Accidentally find the restaurant…by the water! Of course ; but their food even surprise you more! Amicable servants, decent meal, nice ambiance…fabulous, even for the pre-dinner bread with the starters! The day before was my birthday, this experience made me feel like a celebration once again. Highly recommended, the snail, the lamb chop the Marseille fish soup and the meat-paste too! Especially even the complimentary mashed potatoes which comes with the main dish was good. For the next time I will try the Burgundy beef. Thanks for giving me such a good time."
