"After reading many positive reviews and even some claims of the best curry they’ve ever had, I thought I’d give this place a shot. Wish I hadn’t… Rogan Lamb Curry Barely any flavour. Lamb was tough and chewy. Mild spice but no seasoning, spices, sweetness of a rogan, just nothing. Portion size was weird. Curry came in a non standard container and didn’t have enough sauce for my rice and naan. Rest of the meal was fine, naan and rice. But these were ruined by the lack of a nice curry. All this and at a high price too. I’d understand if it was a cheap place, but it’s not. Only positive was quick delivery. Won’t be trying again!"

"The food tasted good, was hot and arrived on time. No complaints there. However, I felt that the person I spoke to on the phone lacked customer skills. I requested a substitution and the answer was a quick no, it does not come like that to which I responded that I am aware but I am requesting a substitution of equal value; Not a full portion of something else. What is the issue exactly with making this type of change? but that was answered with a simple ok, this time but not next time and when I posed the question again as to why that was a problem essentially the person was not wiling to converse and hang up. Overall not the best ordering experience. It would have been good to be given a reasonable response, particularly one that demonstrated that they care about what their customers want."

"Average food, average atmosphere, grumpy staff. Overall an indian restaurant with uninspired and medium cooking. Dishes looked all kind of the same: some red to brown curry with something in it. We had to pay extra for your rice I have never encountered a restaurant before where you have to pay for your rice to add to your curry. Recommended only if all other restaurants in this area are too busy..."

"This is our favorite spot for curries because they cater to all dietary needs, including allergies and gluten or dairy restrictions. The curries are always delicious and portion sizes are decent. We also love their Papadum pickles. Although prices can be a bit high, they often have specials on their website and offer discounts through email sign-ups. The staff is attentive and always makes sure we're satisfied. We usually visit on weekdays for a quieter experience, but even on busy Friday nights, we receive great service. "went here recently after a few years. on Sunday evening .was quite busy but pleasant. the service was very warm and good. rated Indian cuisine everywhere and need to say the quality and taste is pretty good...ja a bit more expensive than others. but that tends to follow rest and branding I guess....all need to recommend...a pionier who continues to churn out of good means of life"

"Was staying in Portsmouth for a few days. Went to Purple mango Indian restaurant. Arrived a little early but that did not matter.Was shown to r table which was clean. Had a nice bottle of wine. Which was nice chilled. Good poppadoms a great selection of dips. For are starters we had mussels in lemon garlic also meat samosas they came lovely hot. For are mains we had king prawn masala ,garlic naan, sag aloo, chicken tikka masala, all very good lovely hot also had water at the table. Nice chilled. Had dessert chocolate mousse , strawberry dessert .very nice .to round of the evening coffee .very nice. Also Baileys on the house. Nice touch. Big shout out to are waiter Ali nothing to much trouble for him .All the waiting staff are very well dressed clean tidy.The restaurant is a lovely setting. Nice for couples or big groups of people.The owner Raji is lovely asked if are food was ok. At the end of the night he even called us a taxi back to are hotel. Which was very good him .would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in Portsmouth area. Lovely clean restaurant . Lovely friendly waiting staff. Food amazing.best Indian in town. Raji should be very proud of his team in Purple mango they all was working very hard Friday night."

"Had food here and the carvery was fine. Bar staff were sharp and nice. the place is very big but I have never been in there late. Loads of ex footballers come to the pub for events so it has a been football following and live music. Not sure if it felt like my kinda evening venue so I never tried. Its the same sort of thing as the Bell and the Carpenter. They all start to blend one into the other with styling, menus and target markets. If its your thing go for it."

"Had an incredible experience, the place has completely changed under the new management since last year. We happened to go in by chance and were really surprised by the great service. The team was very pleasant and brought ice cream for the little one. They were attentive and the taste was very delicious. We ordered the Tawa for two and thinking it may have a small portion ordered one dish extra too but the tawa was quite large."

"London has a long list of fake' Indian restaurants places where nothing is Indian except the names of the dishes on the menus. Bhatti is one of them. Although the waiter denied this and guaranteed their chef was Indian I had my doubts when the paratha and nan were both made in the tandoor, the butter chicken was made with tomato purée and the motor' paneer had so much mutter in it that it became difficult to wash it down with water as well. Service was just passable with the waiters making you conscious while you eat. From the way they kept staring at us I think the poor fellas were very hungry themselves. "I would like to start off my review with praise for the staff and the decor of the establishment. I absolutely loved the unique decoration of the inside of the restaurant, from the strobes of multicoloured lights, the glass mosaics and drawings and the Afghan Styled (as I had been informed) seating in the lower end of the restaurant, which was not made for our family style but we are very sure is much appreciated by those who do use it. The staff was very helpful for my visit, I would like to thank the waiters and the hosts who were always alert for their kind hospitality, as well as the chef 's for their nice food. in my most humble opinion, the food was very good, though could be improved. "Second time this year we’ve eaten here after a show. We both like Indian and this was convenient after going to a concert. First visit wasn’t to bad. This visit was really disappointing. We booked it for 11pm after concert finished. I confirmed the booking the previous day. When we arrived at 10.50 they said they tried to call us because they wanted to close because it was quite. We were in the concert so didn’t hear the call. Anyway they sat us down and it was obvious they wanted us , quick order then the waiter hovering around to clear the courses as quick as they can, we felt really awkward and unwelcome and it rather spoilt our night. If they don’t want to open don’t say you are when we booked. Pity was the food was ok"

"This restaurant has absolutely no understanding of Indian cuisine. I hate to leave a negative review, but this place truly deserves it. I went in for takeout and ended up waiting an hour before I could finally leave with my order. The food was unbelievably terrible and ended up being thrown away. We ordered butter chicken, spicy chicken curry, rotis, and rice. The butter chicken was the worst I've ever had in my life - the color was like taxi yellow and it was so sweet that it tasted like a dessert rather than a main course. It was like someone had mixed chicken into a bowl of sweetened cream. The spicy chicken curry was also awful - no spice, no flavor, just plain disgusting. The rotis were made of maida and tasted like crumbly pizza. The papads were rice papads instead of the traditional North Indian ones. The restaurant had locals dining in, and I hope they get the chance to taste authentic Indian or Pakistani food elsewhere. There are definitely much better Indian restaurants in the UK, despite this one calling itself the "Star of Bombay." Truly disappointing."

"Great food and fantastic for the Aldwych theatres. Manager was very friendly. Need to keep an eye on the service as waiters appeared tired and not overly good English. As a result we witnessed an autocation between a waiter and a customer that was pretty much down to language issues. Not terribly pricey for Central London and gold menu. Advised to book at weekends and evenings as evidently theatres plus KC London plus Law Courts make it very busy. Overall pretty good."
