"We were staying at the Dorchester and Open Table found this restaurant near us. The reviews were mixed but seemed to be somewhat okay and so we booked a table. An unfortunate choice. The food here is mediocre at best. I had the steak frites and my husband had the burger. Both were edible but neither was outstanding in any way. We ordered a £30 bottle of wine but were told they were out of that particular wine, so we just ordered wine by the glass. When we went to pay the bill we saw they didn’t take the £30 wine off the bill. When we brought it to their attention, they removed it but no apologies were given. Overall, the food was okay but not great or even good. Our server was inconsistent. She was quick to take our orders and was personable but kind of a basket case. She immediately assumed we were staying in the attached hotel (a Marriott) and assured us we could bring any leftover wine to our room. She failed to bring water while we choked on our bread, never gave us salt and pepper (we had to get it from another table) and didn’t remove the £30 wine charge on our bill until we asked. If we could go back to Podium, with a better server and at no cost, we would pass. There are so many excellent restaurants in London, there is no reason to go to such a below average place."

"Disappointingly average food and a confused main menu choices on a Sunday of roast dinners one last pink beef at 5pm that wasn't pink it was well done) and sandwiches and hot roast sandwiches with chips, special was lobster and was quite expensive for the quality. Also a bit eclectic in the interior design back to the 80's in the conservatory and a different style in the main room with a hotch potch of accessories in the mix. Overall just OK, better pubs nearby for a Sunday with friends."

"Fantastic meal my beef wellington was the best I have ever had. The ribs, skate and linguine were all brilliant Unfortunately we were seated in the back of the restaurant in a booth with now windows and no view of the restaurant We were left by the staff having to in three occasions go to the bay for service We even had to wait 15 minutes for someone to ask us if we required dessert even though the restaurant was pretty empty by now Shame about the service"

"We were not impressed with The Herblist. The service was average and the chairs were extremely uncomfortable, causing discomfort to our legs. The menu was identical to The Potting Shed. I ordered the same meal as I did at The Potting Shed, but when it arrived at the table, I thought it was a mistake and they had served me a starter instead. I left feeling very hungry. Kudos to The Potting Shed for their larger and more satisfying meals. We will not be returning to The Herblist."

"I ate here for the first time for Sunday lunch I have to say, my meal was really lovely (sea bream with couscous). It's quite pricey but if it's really tasty, then I don't mind. We used to come here for drinks regularly on a Monday night to be entirely honest, we had very poor experience from quite a number of the staff, pretty rude bored, unfriendly attitude.....not all, there were two young ladies 1 young man, who were very good we told them so, because it was such a refreshing change. However, I have to say, the staff on Sunday were really nice friendly attentive (as it should be)..... hopefully this shows a general improvement that may well be reflected on Monday nights now (we don't ever go on a Monday night now though, as we switched venues). So, note to management, keep good service up there as a priority. Your food is really good but without great service, customers don't feel so inclined to come back... keep up the good work"

"I have been going to the Toby cottage for along time, you get greeted like an old friend. The staff are exceptional and the service is just perfect. The food wonderful but make sure you leave room for the desert trolley. Looking forward to my next visit Carol"

"I had another wonderful meal at the restaurant—this time, I enjoyed a Sunday roast. The beef was excellent, and the Yorkshire pudding was fantastic. They also offered a wide variety of delicious sweet potatoes. Although it could have been a bit crowded, overall, it was a great experience. The cheese plate was particularly exceptional!"

"Didn't have our booking on arrival as the employee who used the on line booking process wasn't at work at that point in time. One dinner was sent to wrong table and we only found that out when we asked. We had to wait for fresh meal and when it arrived the bacon was fatty. Service very slow. This was a disappointing evening especially as it was a family treat. We won't be returning."

"I don’t like writing negative reviews but honestly our experience wasn’t great. The food looked great (and was priced accordingly) but really wasn’t that great once you got beyond the presentation. Fish and Chips was particularly disappointing. Tomato Soup was very ordinary. Platter had wow factor on delivery but failed to impress. No wood on the fire despite asking and this was a cold day. In many ways it’s a lovely old pub but it’s got to the point that I reckon the whole place needs a complete refurb. Old wooded table collapsed whilst we were all eating! Apologies if we just picked the wrong Friday lunchtime to be there!"

"This wasn't our first visit to Peachbaum. We have been regular guests for about 4 years now, so we have seen how this place has evolved. We used to go there every weekend, but unfortunately, in the last few months, we have stopped going altogether. The reason is the management. The owner needs to reconsider his approach to running the business, in my opinion. There is a constant turnover of staff, which is concerning. The food and products are still very good, but everything else is lacking. My advice to the owner would be to take care of your staff, retain them, make them happy and valued, and this will also reflect on the guests. You are losing customers because of your own actions."

"The food and service at this restaurant were fantastic. However, the atmosphere was strange - despite it being peak holiday season, it felt deserted. When we stayed in February, it was very busy, so it was difficult to understand the lack of crowds. After lunch, we tried to book a stay in February 2024, only to be told that the hotel charged £50 per night for a small dog, which we found to be opportunistic and unfair. Unfortunately, we won't be returning, which is disappointing."
