"Positives buzzing bar, lots of people in lunch break. I went with baby in pram. Very easy to navigate around the bar and lift access to toilets/change room on first floor. Negatives waiter was a bit patronising. I asked if they served hot drinks, he laughed, rolled eyes and said 'we 're a cafe, of course we do ' pity he hadn 't left me a menu on our table to highlight this. I ordered hot chocolate, it wasn 't great. The BBC Apprentice losing team probably get something possibly better while waiting in the cafe for Lord Sugar to bring the axe down on one of their heads. I ordered chicken burger it was overlooked and would possibly have made a great chew toy for pets. Friend ordered regular burger. Same as mine, over cooked, dry and uninspiring. Maybe we just made a bad choice or the staff were having a bad day. I hope so as I used to really like this venue."

"Amazing food! They had a good range of options on the menu. I think there'd be something to suit everyone. The prices were pretty good. The only downside was that it didn't seem as clean as I would like. The table was a little sticky and the knives and forks weren't clean but I am very picky about cleanliness. We went around 1 and it didn't seem too busy but the food took around half an hour to come. It was definitely worth waiting for! Service: Dine in"

"Our server was incredibly nice, but unfortunately my steak came out incorrectly twice. I ordered it medium, but the first time it arrived well done. On the second attempt, it was rare. I decided not to ask for a third try, but for a steakhouse, they should know how to cook a steak properly. The drinks were excellent and strong, and the dessert was just average. Despite the issues with my meal, the service was commendable and went above and beyond."

"Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. The starters were all interesting and not disappointing. For the mains, the steak was excellent and cooked to perfection. The sides were also excellent. Unfortunately the lobster was disappointing. The meat was removed and cooked with the mac cheese and then the whole mixture was replaced in the empty lobster shell. This totally subdued the taste of lobster and the cheesy taste was too dominant. Difficult to tell if the lobster was pre-cooked or cooked live. The shell was small and hopefully it was not re-cycled as the head and claws were missing from the presentation. Apart from that, enjoyed the steak and everything else. Will definitely eat there again only for the steaks and avoid the lobster."

"However, I want to note that Niku reached out to me to discuss my concerns, and the representative I spoke with was very understanding. It turns out that the door staff were not the usual team, and I was assured they won't be hired for future events. It's important for venues to remember that their door staff reflect their reputation, and they should be careful about who they choose to hire. Overall, my experience was disappointing, with a price tag of over £100 per person for food, service, and atmosphere all rating a 1 out of 5."

"We are from Los Angeles visiting relatives and we booked a High Tea. Initially, we were served with nice friendly service as we sat down and placed our order. After that not one server even came back to ask if we needed refill with teas or water. While the three tables around were served with three times and they are all Caucasians. We are Asians. Please tell me there is no discrimination here in UK. Even after I had to flag down a server and her mannerisms were not quite friendly. This gave me a very bad impression with a restaurant like this."

"We were warmly greeted by the staff as soon as we entered the restaurant, especially by the lady who welcomed us. We were seated at a lovely table overlooking the river and the food was excellent, particularly the prawns we had for starters. I ordered the sea bass and didn't realize it was served whole. I asked the waiter to remove the head for me, which he did quickly and filleted it at the table with exceptional service. Despite being too full for dessert, the staff surprised my friend with a small dessert with "Happy Birthday" written on the plate, which she found delicious and appreciated. We would definitely come back to this restaurant when in Cambridge. The only suggestion I have is to offer smaller sizes of steak on the menu as the portion sizes were quite large."

"The service was outstanding, especially since we were celebrating our anniversary and received complimentary champagne upon arrival. The staff was attentive and made us feel welcome. My steak was not cooked to my liking, and the pork belly starter was undercooked as well. We were quite disappointed, especially since it had come highly recommended by friends. "We went to dinner on Christmas Day after paying a high price upfront. Upon arrival, we were informed that the dessert we ordered was not available and were offered a chocolate brownie instead. The roast turkey dinner was disappointing, with poorly cooked potatoes, undercooked parsnips, and bland cauliflower cheese. The salmon dish was dry and had a bitter taste, with a small portion of dauphinois potatoes. Our cheesecake order was initially served without the profiteroles and caramel sauce we requested, but after showing the waitress the menu, the correct dish was brought out. We were surprised to be told by the waitress that the chef had done this "especially" for us, as it was what we had ordered and paid for. The staff never asked us how our meal was, likely because they knew it was not up to standard. To top it off, we had to wait a long time to pay our drinks bill as their machine was not working. Other diners were also voicing complaints, and we met another couple in the parking lot who shared our disappointment. Overall, it was a terrible Christmas Day experience."

"Highly recommend The Ship. My Husband and I haven't been to the restaurant in awhile and we were happy we tried it again. We dined at the restaurant after attending a wake on Tuesday night and were shocked at the inexpensive prices for dinner for 2 it included a bottle of wine, salad, entrée and dessert all for $40.00. More importantly, the food was very good and we plan to dine there in the future."

"It is something of a triumph of style over substance. Great location, and all looks very hip and stylish. Others have commented on the inexperienced and somewhat chaotic waiting staff; we had to wait 35 minutes for our initial aperitif drinks to arrive (one cocktail and a diet coke). Later we had the same glass of wine, which he hadn’t ordered, brought to our table on three occasions by two different servers. Not blaming individual servers who were all very charming, but evident lack of competent leadership. The food was good enough, but like the drinks, about 25% over-priced. And the glass of wine we hadn’t ordered and sent back three times, still appeared on our bill. Not a restaurant we will be re-visiting."

They obviously were not amused with late guests as the waitress was constantly preparing the tables for breakfast (it’s a hotel restaurant) and our starters and main courses were served at the same time. "I always choose the cosy club if asked by my family, but maybe will rethink this in future sadly. For my birthday my daughter booked us dinner and we were then going on to a show. Sadly my Sea bass meal was so extreemly salty I struggled to eat it .even removing the crispy skin (which I love) still the sauce was terribly salty. I love salt so for me to say this is rare. Also the boiled potatoes in the sauce were not freshly cooked, they had a previously cooked refrigerator taste. When asked by the lovely waitress what we thought I did say mine was very salty to which I recieved a nonchalant responce,we were rushing off so I didn't want to upset my daughter by complaing but was so very disappointed and this morning I'm very dry drinking loads of water. Also I hope you will rethink your starter size as we ordered the Arancini and others had the pulled pork and bacon croquet When they came they all looked identical and resembled too small lumps on the plate!! My daughter ordered the salmon with noodles,fish was very small almost mean portion size, although sauce was nice I don't often give reviews unless very bad or very good food service So I will also say the service was very good, the dirty burger and house burgers were very good no complaints from others. So because of that we did give a tip and 3 stars but if it was for just my experience it wd have been 2 stars, sorry Please look into these issues."

"Booked a table but having tested positive for COVID on the day rang at 11.30 in the morning to advise so they could release our table booking at 3.15 for 2 people. Couple of days later got charged £20 to my bank account despite having given a few hours notice. Tried calling to discuss and have also emailed with proof of having made the phone call. Can't get through on the phone and no answer to my email. We weren't a no show and not our fault given I couldn't help it and I had also called with few hours notice. Very disappointed as at least we had the courtesy to ring! Would like my £20 back please ........"
