"I stopped by for tea and cake but had to remind the staff about my order after waiting for at least 45 minutes. By the time my order arrived, my tea was almost finished. The scone was served warm with jam, even though I didn't ask for it. I couldn't find the prices of cakes on the menu, but later discovered that the prices listed on their website were lower than what we were charged. Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones experiencing long wait times - a family ended up leaving because they were tired of waiting. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience."

"I visited this place in May 2022 during the West Highland Run. I stayed in a mix of camping and lodge accommodations and checked out all the places I visited on my trip. The location is beautiful, nestled in a valley with large rooms for tents and a few huts available. The grounds were dry and slightly sloped, but not overly wet. The pub was great and the food for dinner and breakfast was very good. There is a small shop on site with essentials and the laundry facilities and showers were good. The cost for a tent was reasonable and I would highly recommend this place, especially for the amazing staff at the pub."

"We recently dined at Vegan, a restaurant that offers both takeout and dine-in options. Our service was provided by the friendly manager Matteo, who delivered exceptional and memorable service that was personable and warm. We ordered the guac burger with fries, fish and chips, macaroni and cheese, as well as a red velvet cupcake and chocolate and pecan cookie. The food was prepared with fresh ingredients and this showed in the delicious taste and aromas. We highly recommend this place for anyone who enjoys vegan food. We will definitely be returning, as thank you for making our experience unforgettable."

"I’ve ordered from here at night a few times and did so last night having forgotten how bad it had been previously. Last night though takes the biscuit! Having accepted my order at 23.50hrs, taken my money, including that cheeky service charge and overpriced delivery charge (I could get a taxi up and back for less! 8 minutes short of an hour later, Maria her bunch sent me the wrong meals and told me when I phoned to complain that I should be grateful of getting anything!! Steer clear of this place fellow Wishites, it’s gone right down hill in recent years and the very fact the owner doesn’t seem to have any fritters left to give just shows the quality of the food. Very disappointing."

"Had lunch here today with my son and daughter, my son had a toasti, which was fine, I had macaroni and chips and my daughter had pasta with meatballs, although my son enjoyed his my daughter and I thought ours were dire, I did not eat mine as it was cold and without any taste, however my daughter did eat the meatballs but nothing else and within 4 hours she was violently sick, we just knew that this meal had caused this as she had only had a slice of toast for breakfast. we did not complain at the time as not one of these that would like a refund or discount and just decided we made a really bad choice of where to eat! did not anticipate what was to come, we observed others returning there food to be reheated! would just really want others to be aware to avoid this place. so disgusted I have informed environmental health!"

"They are not offering a dedicated vegan menu at the moment, and only have a few items on the menu (pancakes, burger, cheesy fries and macaroni cheese). My partner and I both ordered pancakes, which looked amazing, but smelt a little odd, like sour and like hot damp. Still tried them, but had to spit them out so sour and awful tasting! Told the waitress who spoke to the chefs, I suggested whatever the used might be off, such as soy milk, but they insisted that's they're usual recipe and nothing was wrong with them. They took them back and we didn't pay for them, and left, but still has to pay for the OJ which I wasn't impressed by, as that could have been free as a gesture of goodwill."

"Disappointing take away from Galos Hertford tonight. Tiny chicken portion-supposed to be a quarter (it was barely a leg),cold fries, dried cob and no slaw with meal. Not worth the money. I called to discuss and come to an agreement if a refund and the manger wouldn't speak to me-said they’d call back tomorrow as they were in an ‘important meeting’. They then said they’d offer to send out the fries and slaw...quite frankly not acceptable after you’ve eaten dinner and are complaining about quality. Managers should trust their staff to deal with these situations if they can’t. It was clear the manager wasn’t in a meeting at 1925pm this was simply a refusal of call. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone-which is a shame as I always promote supporting local business and actually the sauce of the food wasn’t so bad. I’m hoping the manager finds the confidence to call me back this evening and give us our money back."

"Visited today for lunch. Very polite waiter. Wasnt busy which suited us. My daughter and I both had chicken fillets, with salad and chips. Didnt have to wait long, huge plateful of food! Everything tasted lovely..homemade coleslaw too. In my opinion the batter was slightly overdone, bit crunchy, but thats a personal thing. None of us were able for desert, but takeaways were an option! To which my daughter could not resist!! Reasonably priced for the amount and quality. would reccommend!"

"If you know Watford, and you know the St Albans Road near the main railway station, then you will have entered Restaurant ville. There is an eatery or takeaway literally every 10 yards. Competition is fierce and the multicultural residents in Watford are represented at every turn. There are a couple of Caribbean restaurants in Watford, and this particular venue scores extremely highly in many aspects. Let’s get real. The food is to die for, in fact I drive over 30 miles to this hallowed emporium because I simply know that no where else is good enough. Forget your Turtle s and other chain Caribbean restaurants run by people who don’t even employ Caribbean chefs. If you want to savour food that could have been cooked in Montego Bay, Kingston or Barbados. If you want to have your lips tingling with the aromatic jerk, or the creamy akees that melt in your mouth, or the spicy rice and vegetable fare with callaloo, spinach or fried dumplings then there is only one place to go within 15 miles of Watford. There are African outlets nearer to London masquerading as Caribbean outlets, but trust me I have sampled almost all of them. I still come back to Roses. A friendly welcome, excellent cuisine, excellently cooked, now supplemented by West Indian deserts. You will not be disappointed if you stop buy either at lunchtime or dinner. Don’t be shy and try all of the menu, you will then become a firm fan happy that you discovered this establishment."

"My sister and I had booked an overnight stay at the Station Hotel in Insch. Despite sending texts and emails to let the hotel know we would be arriving at 4pm, we were met with locked doors and no signs of life on the premises when we arrived. A passing neighbor had to contact the proprietor on our behalf, and even then we were left waiting in the cold and windy weather for 45 minutes before ultimately leaving the grounds. This experience was chaotic and completely disrupted our family's plans. We were extremely disappointed in the lack of hospitality and customer service we received, especially during these difficult times for the hospitality industry. The fact that we encountered a locked front door instead of a warm welcome was unacceptable. As seasoned travelers, we have never experienced such a situation where we arrived at a hotel that was expecting us only to find the doors locked. We not only missed out on an overnight booking, but also on the opportunity to have dinner with six family members. We cannot recommend the Station Hotel in Insch for customer service or satisfaction. I would give it zero stars if I could."

"We came here for my brother-in-laws birthday. 5 adults and 2 children. The staff were attentive and responsive. Half-way between the apathetic legend of staff in a Caribbean take-away and the normal waiters and waitresses you would get at, say, Zizzi’s. Drinks came first. The ginger beer was a favourite but the apple juice was a write off. I had a Pina Colada which, despite having a glob of cream on top, had been mixed in the blender with ice and so was watery and weak. After speaking to a lovely waitress she remade the drink, shaken not blended. It was better than the original but not something I’d order twice. The prawn starter was delicious. Delicate flavours and perfectly cooked. The children loved their mains of BBQ wings and Macaroni and cheese. Our fussy eater finished her plate and was licking her fingers. Those that had the half jerk chicken (half a chicken not half jerked) said it was well cooked but the pepper in the sauce was overwhelming and killed the flavour. They wished they had asked for the sauce in a side dish. Chips were fresh and tasty although, strangely the sweet potato fries were very salty. The place is beautifully decorated and the ambiance and atmosphere is lively and friendly. Although my first visit wasn’t great I would come back as I know what things to ask when ordering my food and drinks to ensure I enjoy them"
