"Surprisingly quiet for a late lunch on Saturday so quiet in fact that the cocktails we had been recommended by the restaurant that we make time to sample were not available because the cocktail barperson was offduty. Once we had passed that disappointment, the rest of the afternoon was very pleasant, aided by excellent service and food that was wellexecuted barring a few bits of shell in the crab salad and a somewhat less than melting portion of belly pork. A very handy venue for the Wigmore Hall, and for Oxford St shoppers looking to escape the retail fray. I'd happily return to this place to see how it's evolving and I still want to sample the cocktail menu"

"first. ice cold with other customers was also complaining about eating with their moms how we visited for our Christmas party! our ancestors came and were average, had to develop our own garnel and send out what is not really acceptable for a £6.50 starter to find that they were actually quite tasteless. after a very long waiting period came the main course. what a catastrophe! a steak demanded rare, came on the outside burned and raw on the inside so that it hard and indefinable, two more steaks asked medium, came chew and done well. accompanied by limp lettuce from a description. the accompanying sauces were also disappointing. chips were ok. No one came during our meal to ask if it was okay. so that a member of our party must go and find someone who tells them how disappointing our food was. at this point everyone else was cold and hungry and had made a decision we wanted to go. we got 50% discounted from our food bill, but since this was our Christmas meal, it put a damper on our evening. we will not recommend oaks or return!"

"Visited this fine establishment for the first time in a while and was just as good as the last time I went, had the hot sesame beef and halloumi salad to start which is always a winner and the wife had the tempura prawns with sweet...chilli sauce which the waitress was happy to swap for the wasabi mayo. Mains I went for the mix grill and all the meats were cooked to perfection and I had the potato gratin which were lovely and garlicky and the coleslaw which was the best I’ve had, wife went for the sirloin which was huge cooked just how she likes it medium and like me had the gratin and coleslaw,by this time we were pretty stuffed but waited a bit and then we both went for the crème brûlée which were divine Washed down with a bottle of Prosecco and a couple of craft beers we left very much satisfied and will be visiting again very soon and have recommended my works have there xmas lunch there. The staff were very knowledgeable about any questions you had about the food and drinks and were very attentive without being overbearing, very rare these days as most places just wanna turn the tables over asap."

"Visited today and yesterday for breakfast when staying in the area. The food was perfect! . I prefer my scrambled eggs soft and the request is rarely granted, but I was delighted to say that here it was and served with a smile too. What a wonderful little place this is. The menu selection is extensive but not overwhelming and I observed that the serving staff took time to take orders. Thank you team Cappadocia! I highly recommend if anyone happens to be in the area! PS The coffee was also great!"

"Overpriced and mediocre. Not what it used to be and will probably avoid in future. I don't normally leave much detail in a review, but as I used to really like this place, I think it's only fair to make sure others know how much its gone downhill. I would usually have ordered a burger, but went for a sandwich instead but this was a disappointment... Tbh I feel a bit cheated paying £10 for a finger roll sized sandwich, especially as the side order of mac and cheese was bigger than it. Same goes for the disappointing onion rings and overpriced drinks. 1.5 stars really as the food still tasted decent, even though at £35 for a quick main for two with a drink each felt a bit expensive for what was on offer here. I used to be a regular customer here until I moved away from Glasgow a few years ago, when it was a pretty great and substantial eat for the money the burgers especially were great... Massive and eclectic selection of unusual combinations that was always worth looking through but now seem a bit boring and plain (plus almost every topping is an extra now so your going to spend another few quid to get a decent combo! . The atmosphere also seems to have gone from the place too. Maybe we were unlucky, but sadly think this is the end of Ad Lib burgers for me now."

"nice venue, personal attentive and very friendly. very busy for a Thursday who gave a good atmosphere. I ordered the butter chicken, looked gr8 out, but the chicken was very hard, so was overboiled, unusual for an Indian restaurant. the aromen were beautiful. we have the set £25 menu that was a good value. not many options for diners who are ceoliac and need gluten-free food, which was very disappointing. they had no separate frit so that non-glue-containing menu items were excluded due to cross-contamination. I would expect a Michelin Star cook to take the time to ensure that diners with food allergies have the same choice."

"Fabulous time at Swift bar. I enjoyed the Sgroppino cocktail £8) which was Prosecco and a bit of elderflower liqueur, and a scoop of lemon sorbet. Brilliant. My friends all loved their cocktails too and we came during happy hour on a Friday) where the aperitivo cocktails are I think) £7. Staff were brilliant, very professional and efficient. We were promptly seated, and set up with glasses of water and menus. I asked our server many questions about the cocktails and she was extremely knowledgable about the ingredients and dominant flavours whether you could taste the elderflower in the Sgroppino, what the Solstice tasted like, if the Pearl was heavy on the almond, etc). She was great, very patient and gave very clear answers to help me make the best order of drink. The cocktails all look fantastic and the bar is very beautiful too."

"a terrible experience. 2 4 1 drinks were terrible. a mojito with all bits fed in a glass, but not mixed. Eating was bad, just heated and stodgy. the £15 deenpfannkuchen had less than a dipping sauce bowl full over price (and the personal agreed!) overall it tasted like it was stored and reheated. we sat in an isolated part of the restaurant and had to go and find someone themselves. the restaurant is closed on street level, but they go a staircase to the restaurant. while we were dispensed with the manager from all above and service fee, a 10% good wille rabatt was deleted if it actually overloaded us by 20%. when I was recognized and interrogated, I was told that a refund had to wait until the next Monday instead of doing what a commercial location would do and that an immediate refund would be issued. this place needs a complete overhaul and view."

"Had been looking forward to visiting the Brisley Bell for years and finally decided to book a celebration meal there. The setting is incredible the interior design is amazing. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. But sadly that was all let down by what we were there for the food. We were expecting something pretty special but found it pretty bland and uninspiring. The cod with new potatoes and broccoli in particular. It appeared to all be boiled with a packet mix sauce."

"patara is a beautiful little place in chelsea. I was so tempted to try the satay, but we went for another appetizer that was good, but not memorable and so I don't remember. the chicken greenery (has a fancier name in restaurant) and the duck red curry were good. hühner was better, tasty, not too spicy./ not a well-known Thai food really and can not really say the authentic from the riffraff, but this is nice, but a bit expensive. total good experience."

"Booked the standard afternoon tea at the Mandolay on a dismal February afternoon. I was surprised to see that there were pay and display machines on the hotel forecourt. It was pouring with rain but I did my best to scan the small print on...the machines to see if diners or residents get a discount for parking. Sadly not , nor does the machine give change! I decided to pay by card, for hours which I hoped would be a suitable time for us to partake of the tea time offerings. We were welcomed by a friendly receptionist who asked how we were. Actually soaking wet but that wasn't her fault. We were shown to our seats and a tea menu was brought to us. The tea menu itself was presented beautifully in a clasped box. Sample teas are contained in screw top jars within the box and we were invited to unscrew the jars to smell the teas. The teas offered were wide, varied and also unlimited. The restaurant was quiet with just a few friends gathered, sampling the afternoon tea as were we. The table linen was clean and crisp and service excellent. In due course a stand was brought to us with the usual fare of sandwiches, cakes and scones. There were fingers each of smoked salmon, coronation chicken, egg mayo and beef and horseradish. Before we started on the sweet items, we were asked if we would like more sandwiches but we politely declined. There were warm homemade scones, plain and fruited, (a little on the dry and heavy side) along with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Patisserie included a macaron, strawberry tartlet and chocolate cake each. The chocolate cake in particular was very light and delicate. We ordered more tea and the waitress very kindly provided a box so we could take home the strawberry tartlets that our tummies could not find a home for. The afternoon tea itself was nicely presented and plentiful and the service good. The decor in the hotel was not very cosy and I would imagine that the hotel would lend itself more to business or conference delegates. The parking situation was a bit off putting, this is the first time I have had to pay to park my car before dining in a restaurant or partaking of afternoon tea. I appreciate that the hotel is fairly close to Guildford Town Centre and they would need a deterrent to stop people just parking their car at the hotel and going shopping. However, I think it would be appropriate to offer free or discounted parking to residents or diners. Whilst the afternoon tea was acceptable, I think there are better alternatives around."

"The food here is wonderful. Well cooked food with great flavours. The ambience is perfect and the smell of amazing food hits you when you walk through the door. The service was brilliant. Very friendly but not overly so with very prompt service. I had the peri-peri wings to start and they are lovely. Good sized wings and just spicy enough. I had a king prawn main which was also delicious. My friend had the mutton curry which was incredible and I have since had as a take away from them. Huge chunks of tender meat with no gristle with a thick sauce. My new favourite food to order in and one of the best curries I have had. The rice and peas were cooked perfectly. The dumplings are amazing, they are so like donuts as to feel like a real treat! I would recommend Bishops and will definitely go again, and hopefully often."

"disappoint. while the service and the wine were good, there were two disappointing aspekte to eat. the calzone was very tasteless and the ham in the inner was incredibly thin and mostly fat that I had to cut off. the tiramisu seemed to have no alcohol in it and was very dirty. we took two friends with us who visited the united kingdom and who made the experience even more disappointing. would not come back even though a small tipp left as the personal was great."

"We had a fantastic experience! The potatoes were outstanding, and the prawns were just incredible. The selection of wine and cocktails was also excellent. If I had to be very picky, I would suggest not serving tomatoes that are out of season, as they aren't nearly as flavorful as the in-season ones. The burrata dish could be enhanced with other seasonal vegetables, like beetroot, or maybe a tomato-based jam or sauce. As for the Korean chicken, while it was delicious, using thigh meat could take it to the next level, and a slightly crunchier batter would improve it even more. Both squash dishes might benefit from a bit more caramelization on the squash. However, these are just minor details—we truly had a wonderful time!"

"two for preopera dinner at 18 o'clock, eat a la carte. we ordered a bottle of the house white, price 35, but were calculated 46 for another bottle of wine. we were also charged 11,50 for a gin and tonic we never ordered. since we hurry to be in time for the opera (and at least initially service) had been slow, I discovered these false accuses only if I inspected the bill more cautious to house i have kept the bill! our waiter, although he tried his best, was the agency temp, and was not at all familiar with the menu that caused all kinds of confusion at the beginning. my main was a cesar salad consisting of half an salate (no, the leaves were not separated, washed individually and sown!). this was knocked on a plate, with some indifferent dressing on it blown by a bottle (actually not a freshly produced emulsion dressing). there were no crossers, but a few ghastly baguette melbas with melted cheddar (no, not parmesan) that had hurled from them, and not a hauch of sardelle, but something called bacon dusting. Overall, one would probably come better in a school canteen, and would not be happy with 12 for eating half an salad. when asien de cuba was housed there, this place was special. what they have at their place is particularly terrible."

"it is sad that such an unstoppable place offers a really bad service. after sitting we had to wait for 20 min for a coffee and further 25 min for 2 waffeln. the personal told us that despite the amount of food we can eat, we must spend at least 40 pfunds during our visit or we will be charged the remaining ones on the card we used for booking. what has happened, as we have "only "£34 for 2 waffles and 2 basic coffees full of honey and sugar. we both share the opinion that it is ridiculous to force their customers to pay £40 for such foods, although, how much they are even able to eat, what would be a reasonable amount at dinner / drinks. huge disappointment, and would not recommend this place. we have also experienced to leave angry customers after they have to hear that they spend 40 pfund minimum. if that wasn't enough, the staff came next to us and sprayed heavy cleaning detergent right in front of our coffee! just one word."
