"Very disappointing. Our table was on the first floor via a steep narrow staircase. This is not suitable for an infirm or elderly person. The staff are welcoming and attentive. The table settings are nice. One is served with warm, somewhat hard, bread roll and butter. and a small soft roll sprinkled with parmesan, presumably an 'amuse bouche '. Everything is served with a flourish. We each had a main dish, without starter. Servings are small on large plates. My wife ordered one of two meat dishes on the menu sirloin steak which proved somewhat chewy and indifferent flavour. The alternative would have been rabbit. There were two fish dishes which would have been my choice but one with ginger to which I have an aversion which the chef apparently was unable remove. The other fish on offer was coley which is generally regarded as a cheap alternative to cod or haddock. It is used extensively in manufacture of fish fingers. The only other offering was a vegetarian dish with main ingredient of cauliflower. I often choose a vegetarian dish but this was without doubt the worst I had ever encountered. A small piece of cauliflower accompanied by other small, pretty tasteless objects that I could not identify but described as 'nori dumpling, chestnut mushroom, spring greens '. Finally, my wife chose a dark chocolate delice which she pronounced as ok but unremarkable. We have dined in restaurants of many standards worldwide and The Greyhound is both pretentious and for us, one of the worst for food."

"Wonderful meal on a Saturday evening when we were staying in the area for the first time. A very welcoming atmosphere when we arrived: lots of family groups with children, all clearly enjoying their food. Service was very friendly and efficient. We shared an antipasto platter for a starter all good, and my only regret was that I hadn't ordered a plate of the arancini all to myself. For mains, we had various pasta and pizzas all very good (especially the spaghetti carbonara), and a cut above anything similar that we've had for a long time. For sweets, the tiramisu and affogato tia maria were delicious. Lovely meal, and lovely too to see an independent restaurant so busy and popular."

"My husband is a steak lover and I’m a vegetarian with coeliac and I was really pleased seeing an allergens menu with plenty of options! We visited on a Monday which had a bring your own wine deal. Our waitress Daniela was incredible with noting allergens and we were given complimentary bread to begin; some of the softest and tastiest GF bread I’ve ever had. For mains I had a beyond burger which was great however the bun was a little cold and smaller than the burger which kept slipping out. I also had the creamed spinach was excellent! For dessert I got the creme brûlée which was served in a martini glass and my husband got the warm pecan pie which he absolutely loved. Overall I had a fantastic experience here; the service was brilliant, food was great and the setting and atmosphere was perfect for a date night."

"Popped in for an early improptu Saturday lunch. First through the doors and Olivia gave us free reign over tables, so we plumped for by the fire. Just intended to go for mains Supreme of Chicken with porcini mushroom and thyme sauce on a potato and onion rosti topped with spinach, tender and tasty, but I hd Sea Bream with samphire dill and prawn bisque amazing! Bream crispy skinned and perfectly cooked, and a lick your plate clean sauce, served on a dill potato cake. Would definitely have it again! Could not resist the Banofee Pavlova truly next level! Light crisp shelled merigue with chewy inside, piled with banana creme topped with two spears of banana coated with shards brittle caramel and the whole thing swirled caramel sauce and dotted with lemon thyme/verbena? Divine but definitely a sharer despite its modest looking size! Olivia was the perfect host and we washed it all down with a large pot of Chamomile Tea. Can't wait to go again! Dietary restrictions: Plenty of options for all eaters gf Vegan Veggie. Parking: Own free car parking"

"I rang to book and was offered a small table which I said was fine. When we sat down the table next door was vacant and lunch service was coming to an end. About ten minutes after we sat down a staff member sat at the large table and ate her lunch. No big deal but a poor start. We shared a pate which was very good and the rustic breads with olive oil and balsamic. The olive oil was dreadful and the balsamic seemed stuck to the bottom of the dish. Disappointing but again o big deal. I ordered the crab cakes, as soon as the meal arrived I could see I would be disappointed. The crab cake looked like it had been deep fried five times. It was dry and very poor really. My wife had the goats cheese tart with sun dried tomatoes. It looked dry and tired and it was. I think very little care when into both the prep and the service. Its a pretty pub, nice inside, but certainly we would not go again."
