"There are lots of places near us that serve pizza but they don't serve it up as tasty as this. The service is simply first.class from the whole team. Frascati Pizzeria has only been around for a few months and it was on the list of places to visit that my wife has so we decided as we were walking past to pop in. I've given Frascati Pizzeria 5 stars because I really did love it. The staff (owners) are very polite and attentive which is sincere and genuine. The restaurant itself has a very rustic feel to it. Although small (only about 8 tables if I remember) you aren't crammed in and have an intimate feeling. The owners are planning to expand the restaurant to fit more in and I doubt that they will find it difficult to get bums on seats. The menu is small. I like that as there is nothing worse than looking at a menu with too much to choose from. What they do offer though is a good choice of pizza, pasta and chicken with desert and sides plus a selection of beverages to accompany your meal. Just as you enter the restaurant you'll see where your pizza is cooked fresh and on-site. I love pizza that is cooked this way and that will go some way to how they taste so good. There is also seating area where you can sit whilst waiting for a your table and have a drink. I'd also like to say thank you for the free desert they offered my wife to mark her birthday. A very generous offer that was gratefully received. We've been back and had 4 pick ups from them now and each time the Pizza has tasted simply beautiful. We are aiming to get back to sit in very very soon."

La Cava

"I would not live in Salisbury, NC were it not for La Cava. Let me tell you the story. When my wife and I visited Salisbury back in 2005, looking to move here, I was NOT on board. Pulling off of 85 onto E Innes St back then really reinforced my desire to stay where we were in comfortable, suburban Loudoun County in Northern Virginia. Back then, E Innes at 85 was an eyesore. It has improved immensely since then, but in 2005, yuck. By the time that we got to the downtown and West Square historic district, things were looking up a bit, but I maintained my desire to not move to Salisbury. We looked at some houses, including the one that brought us to town. The wife was excited not me. It was not until we had dinner at La Cava on Saturday night, that I got on the Salisbury bandwagon. We were greeted by Jessica at the table and after mentioning that she did not know us and introducing herself, she then asked, So what is the plan tonight? Are you hungry now? Do you want to have a drink and relax for a bit? How do you want tonight to go? I was gobsmacked. I was used to the DC market where, as soon as you sit down, they start the meter running to get you to buy as much as they can, in as short amount of time as possible, and then get you out the door to do it all again with the next table. Well we had the most wonderful relaxing dinner. The atmosphere was lovely, each course better than the previous one. The service was perfect and gracious. At the end of the meal, Jessica came by and said, How about an after dinner drink? Now, at this point, it is important to mention that I ran a fine dining Italian restaurant in Northern Virginia that about $2.5 million dollars in sales annually, so I know restaurants and I know wine. I decided to take a chance to ask if Jessica had Vin Santo. For those of you that are not familiar with Vin Santo, it is a Tuscan dessert wine that is wonderful and tastes like sunshine. As I was asking the question, and older gentleman was walking by the table, stopped suddenly and asked, in an Italian accent, I 'm sorry. Did you just ask for Vin Santo? I was a bit taken aback and said, ...um yes. He said, I have a bottle that I have been waiting for someone to ask if we have. I 'll be right back. He returned with bottle in hand, three glasses, and asked if he could join us. He introduced himself as the owner, Gianni Moscardini and shared the bottle of Vin Santo with us. I was now on board with moving to Salisbury because La Cava would be a block and a half from the house we ended up buying. I have been a regular customer there ever since and it is truly my home away from home. If you go, ask if Gianni is in. He would love to meet you and tell you his story. He is a great friend. Also, tell him Greg sent you."

Piazza Firenze

Piazza Firenze

133 High Street, TW12 1NJ, Richmond Upon Thames, United Kingdom

Full • Pizza • Pasta • Lunch

"Ah the joys of Mother's Day. Wait that was LAST week. Never mind. My nearly 20 year old daughter wasn't home last week, so the celebrations were postponed until today. Darling daughter kindly offered to take her mother (me) for lunch. After much deliberation, we decided to wander not too terribly far from home to Piazza Firenze. I'd never been before. We arrived at about 1.30 on a Saturday afternoon. There were a couple of small family groups by the big picture window (which was fully open, as it was a fabulous day) with small and impatient children. We therefore chose to sit near the back. At the back were some challenged and rather noisy adults, but neither they nor the toddlers were the restaurant's fault. The place wasn't busy (the glorious day may have something to do with that). We were given menus and asked what we'd like to drink quite quickly. They have a wine list, plus some spirits and beers, though both of us stuck with water. The menu is not extensive, but nor is it tiny. It has starters, salads, pasta, pizza and main courses. Both my daughter and I opted for pizza she had a Margarita, and I had a pizza with Italian sausage and bacon (it was supposed to come with egg; I asked to have that omitted as a New Yorker, egg on pizza for me is just wrong). The pizzas did take a bit of time to arrive, despite the lack of many customers. My pizza was ok. The sausage and bacon were quite salty, and I'd have liked the base cooked a bit more. Also, and this is a common complaint from me about pizzas in Britain, it could have done with some herbs oregano, basil that kind of thing. As it was, it was really the topping that provided the flavour. I had a wee taste of my daughter's pizza. The crust was nicer on that one, and the tomato tasted fresher, but again, it could have done with seasoning. The bill came to under £20, as all we had were two pizzas, with no drinks or sides. The pizzas ranged in price from around £7 to around £10, as did the pasta dishes. The main courses (sea bass, steak, that kind of thing) were more expensive perhaps half again as much. The decor is fairly bare wooden floors, plain table and chairs. Fortunately, they are not too close together, so you will not be rubbing elbows with all and sundry. However, all the hard surfaces means the sound really does carry. There is a small garden/terrace out back with tables and chairs, though we did not venture out there. The pizza oven is in the back, so you can see your pizza being cooked and delivered. All in all, I'd say this is not a bad place for families, but I would hesitate to recommend it for an intimate, adult dinner for two."
