"During our visit to London with our 15-year-old granddaughter, we decided to treat her to a special afternoon tea, as it was one of her must-do activities. We were prepared to spend 40£ per person for the experience, but unfortunately, we were left feeling disappointed. The setting was beautiful, with a lovely window seat overlooking the garden. The room was tastefully decorated with colorful framed embroidery pieces on the walls. We all enjoyed the variety of tea options and found one that suited our tastes. The tiered trays of food arrived promptly, and the scones were warm and delicious. However, the sandwiches were lacking in filling and flavor, and the bread and rolls were dry. Instead of clotted cream, we were served butter with our scones, which was disappointing for an English tea experience. The desserts were hit and miss, with some tasty options like the lemon meringue tart and layered chocolate cake, but others like the bun and macaron were not enjoyable. The service was average, with our server being indifferent and unaccommodating. We were also surprised that we were not allowed to try a different tea without paying for a new pot, which seemed petty considering the high cost of the meal."
