"The service at this restaurant was awful. Our order was forgotten and arrived late, after we had already been waiting for an hour. When we called to inquire about our order, we were told that they had not even started preparing it. "We had biryani with lamb on the bone and my partner had manchurian veggie balls and veggie noodles. The biryani came in a fairly big bowl but the lamb on the bone portion was only just adequate. The lamb was tender and tasted very nice. The rice was just okay Fairly nice flavours but overrall a very dry dish and I didn't like the cloves in the rice. It was expensive for what it was! My partner enjoyed the manchurian veggie balls but said they were very spicy. She did NOT enjoy the veggie noodles as she said they were bland. I tried the noodles too and I could've done a better cooking job at home and I'm not a good cook!!!!! Most of the veggie noodles were left on the plate!! The waiter did NOT help us with our menu choices which is POOR customer service! To sum up, the food was average and expensive for what you got We may be tempted to return if there is a special offer in TWO years time!!!!! "Arrived in time. Restaurant was approximately 50% empty. Table was not ready. Asked to take a seat in the bar. Around 12 14 min later were taken to our table for 2. No menu. Few minutes later came food menu. No drinks menu. Requested papad with my drink, took 10 min before serving papad but wanted us to order food. Starter deserved 4 stars but kofta curry was bland and nothing like any Indian cuisine. Ordered pan kulfi was served two dollops of ice cream with grossly over powering pan flavouring added with touch of falooda ingredients. This was an insult to kulfi, priced at £12.50. When asked by staff about food, informed him about our opinion on the kulfi. He agreed that it had excessive pan flavouring and confessed that he had tasted it before it was served. This dish deserved minus 5 rating. The food is nothing like Baluchi at Lalit’s in Delhi and Mumbai. Baluchi London will be not be on our list for future."

"Dropped in for an evening meal with my wife. The restaurant was quiet but the food was delicious. We shared a garlic king prawn starter. The prawns were beautifully cooked and were a good size and the sauce was amazing. We both had a chicken tikka dish, I had south Indian garlic chilli and my wife a milder dish. The chiched was tender and tasty and the accompanying naan bread made for a great meal. Well worth trying this restaurant Service: Dine in"

I always went to nakodar who rated one of the best in Scotland, but the last visits everything was overpowered with ingwer, so I gave this place an attempt based on the reviews I read. "We ordered a selection of small plates to share, including the popular chicken tikka and lamb samosas. The flavors were incredible and the portion sizes were just right for a pre-theatre meal. The highlight of the evening was definitely the chicken biryani, which was fragrant and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the butter chicken and garlic naan. Overall, our experience at Dabbawal was fantastic and we left feeling satisfied and ready to enjoy the ballet. We will definitely be returning soon."

"Overall a terrible experience. Our table of two was joined with another table of four with no space in between, basically cramming as many tables in as they can leaving you with no privacy and practically sitting on each others laps. The menu on their website the opentable menu is not the same as the one given in the restaurant the prices are almost double (dish I ordered was listed as £5.50 but was £9.95 in the restaurant I would not be surprised if they had a second menu with higher prices to scam those without a deal) Food was very average I ordered a side dish and my friend ordered a main dish both were the same size. But my friend was charged the price for a main but the waiter seemed to think despite it being half the size of a main, that it was indeed a main course. We had to ask to have this sorted out on the bill which was fine as they corrected the price, however the rest of the bill did not add up to the total. The waiter didn 't even bother giving us an explanation as to why this was he clearly got irritated that we questioned the bill and demanded that we could only pay with one card for the table I said we wanted to pay separately and was completely dismissed and told 'one card per table only, you 'll have to pay each other back '. Very rude. If you don 't book online, other diners seem to be offered some sort of discounts on the door (we could hear this as we were basically sitting on top of each other with other tables) Would not recommend. Much better options on brick lane with better service."

"After not visiting Chez Mumtaj for a couple of years, we were pleased to see that the food quality has remained consistent. My wife enjoyed a delicious duck dish and my lamb shank was excellent. However, I have deducted a few stars due to the slightly disorganized service. We were seated at the wrong table initially and had to switch, and we had to request fresh table water multiple times. Despite this, the service was polite overall."

"The pizza at this restaurant is your typical takeout style - a basic bread base with a variety of toppings. While nothing special, it is still much better quality compared to some other big chains. The curries could use some improvement, as the basic sauce is tasty but the portion sizes are on the small side. The dessert was a bit overcooked and lacking in quantity. Additionally, there was no warning about the meat used in the dishes. On the positive side, there is no additional cost for rice or chapatis. As of the time of this review, the restaurant has received a hygiene rating of 5, which is reassuring."
