Rich and hearty meat sauce with tomatoes, simmered to perfection and served over al dente pasta.

"The front of the restaurant on Argyle Street may be understated, but the interior is quite pleasant with a conservative and classic decor that complements the menu and service well. The menu is extensive and features a great wine selection. The dishes are beautifully presented and well cooked, with a delightful mix of flavors and textures that evoked memories of dining in Florence. The service is attentive yet not intrusive, catering perfectly to my preference to focus solely on my companion. I highly recommend trying the steak Diane."

"We have eaten here quite a few times as it has tastes to suit everyone , and my younger daughter loves tiramisu which they do very well . Our party included a baby, and someone in her eighties and four other adults. One choices were pasta Bolognese, an Chicken Caesar, Lasagna, a leggera padana pizza, Melanzane, and a Romana pizza. Their leggera pizza have 600 calories and are hollowed out with a slada replacing the dopugh in the middle. We had a collection of sides and starters. The baby enjoyed broccoli which was not overcooked and others enjoyed dough balls. The desserts were tiramisu, Lotus biscoff cheesecake , and then some of us had the mini desserts -dolcretti where a cup of coffee is served with a mini dessert, one had a carrot cake, one had figs in mascarpone amd one had a mini tiramisu. Every one from 11 months to 82 enjoyed the food, and the service was quick and friendly. However it is recommended you book ahead if it is Sunday or there are more than two of you, as we once got turned away when he had not booked"

"My wife and I have visited all of the Character Inns on the island and in each the staff have been very friendly. The Caulkheads is no exception, though this is our least favourite of the group. Despite being the nearest geographically to where we live on the island. It is perhaps because we have visited at quieter times, in winter, when the pub was still rather cold, that it has seemed less inspiring. Though admittedly, we have been disappointed by the food here too, which arrived slowly and less warm than I would have liked. perhaps again, due to being during colder weather, more difficult to keep hot. We haven't given up on The Caulkheads, we will try another visit sometime, perhaps in the Summer months."

"From booking to payment, an all-round good experience. There is free direct access from the free public car-park behind although there is also free parking in the street outside if available. The request for a table in a quieter area (if there is one) so we can hold a conversation, was listened to and we were pleased to be away from the busy centre. Waiting staff were friendly and service was impeccable with just the right degree of attentiveness at all the right times. The food was delightful both in taste and presentation and the portions very generous. We had to take some home! We will definitely be going back as there is a lot more on the menu we want to try and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening there."

"LOVE this restaurant! Have a feeling they used to offer pizza a few years ago when we went but now it's a pasta restaurant. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was lovely but ah, the food... the 'puffy' bread was so good even my muggle husband raved about it. We shared a starter of melanzane that was delicious enough to eclipse the pasta dish I had for my main course (although partly because I'm pretty sure they forgot to put the butternut squash in my tortellini... and I had a tiramisu for dessert. We had a lovely romantic meal and would go back in a heartbeat. If you're in the area, it's absolutely worth a visit!"

"A hidden gem in Southampton! I drove two hours to discover this fantastic restaurant. The service was exceptional; we were warmly welcomed upon arrival. We ordered some starters that were quite satisfying, followed by an incredible spaghetti allo scoglio. The fish was freshly sourced, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The desserts were absolutely delicious as well. Surprisingly, the prices were even lower than those at some chain restaurants! I can’t wait to return soon for another taste of Italy."

"Fantastic, cosy little restaurant nestled down a little side street at the back of St Julian's church. The place is full of character, the service is excellent, the wine lovely and the food scrumptious. We would definitely go back next time we are staying in the area. We shared a gorgeous aubergine and gorgonzola based starter followed by seafood carbonara for my gf and a tomatoe based spaghetti with garlic, chilli, capers and olives for me. The cheesecake and tiramisu were just as good to round off a perfect meal. All very reasonably priced too."

"So after nearly 14 months of lock down restrictions 4 missed birthday celebrations Saturday was the night . One special request was to bring a very special bottle of red wine and that was not a problem at all . Arrived Luciano welcomed us with a warm Italian welcome and made us feel comfortable from the start. Food and service was outstanding my Surf and Turf main course was outstanding. Totally worth a visit if I’m Gullane/East Lothian."

"our new local, 5 car minutes from our house, 20 minutes to walk. For the first time he was at lunch with our little young, who had not much appetit when he was tired, but I tasted his children pasta and garlic bread and it was beautiful. I had the prawn marie rose sandwich with a side of chips it was nice, fresh soft brot and a beautiful side salat with it too. hubby had the Asian huh wing with a side of chips, and he said he was also beautiful. the pub is very cozy, clean, the staff is friendly and very courteous. there is also a small seating area in the free. I think they used to have a children's playground out there, but that doesn't seem to be there anymore, they probably took it down to make space for more seats in the free during the pandemic. a nice little pub and we will be happy to come back in the coming years."

"A few days ago, three of us visited Laza and were warmly greeted by the owner, a local resident. She previously owned a restaurant called Zigni House on Essex Road. The ambiance of the place is incredibly welcoming. We ordered a combination of meat and vegetable dishes to share, which allowed us to sample a variety of what the menu has to offer. The food was outstanding and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this restaurant, and we will definitely return."

"This restaurant is tucked away on Fore Street and is an absolute gem. We are repeat customers and always visit when in St Ives. The food is amazing, highly recommend the pizzas especially the Fiorentina. It is reasonably priced overall and has a good choice on the menu. The staff are great and nothing is too much trouble. If you are lucky enough to get a table on New Years Eve it is the best night you will have, everyone is in fancy dress and the atmosphere is brilliant. Peppers is the best place to eat in St Ives."

"I chose to take my wife here for Valentine’s Day I had already read previous reviews so I knew there was no menu to choose fromOn arrival we was met with a friendly attitude and had a choice of tablesWe was unsure of exactly what dishes we would get we was asked if we like fish but we said no for starters we were given Parma ham which was absolutely delicious followed by tagliatelle Bolognese which is one of the best I have ever tasted then we had a further course presented to us of ravioli which again was deliciousThen came the confusing part we thought that was it so with a language problem we was asked if we wanted deserts so we said yes and had deserts we then realised all of the dishes had not been presented so I opted to have a further course of ravioli then a extremely delicious prawn dish came out followed by the speciality of a suckling pig all of these meals were absolutely faultless the service was exceptional with a lot of humour which we enjoyed some people may be put off by that but each to their ownI would say this is one of the best restaurants I have ever visited with exceptional food we also had a bottle of wine, a Pepsi and Our bill was £80For the amount of courses we had this was excellent value for money we would definitely visit again we ended up sitting with a few other couples towards the end of the night which just made the night complete and made new friendsAs the previous reviews have said just arrive sit back and enjoy you will not be disappointed"

"Due to COVID-19 the restaurant only works as a take-away. However..., they are unable to take an order for the next hour and a half because they have too many orders... After which I would need to call them and not just turn up even though it says in their window you can order on the spot... All this for a pizza... The plan was to try the food and go back after the quarantine, if good, but, obviously, that will not be happening now. They obviously have a serious organisational problem in their kitchen. They also have a problem with their attitude as they manipulate reviews on Tripadvisor by getting negative ones removed without a clear reason given for that. They also have a note about their dress code in their window while they are struggling to bake a pizza..."

"We visited for a lunch time meal. When the waitress bought the food along she neglected to say the dish it was in was very hot. It had come directly from the oven. When I moved it I burnt my fingers. I asked the waiter who spoke poor English for a burn cream from their first aid kit. He went to find it and some time later came to say they didn’t have any. I was unimpressed and asked to see the manager. She came over and I repeated my request. She looked and couldn’t find any burns cream. Then she decided their company policy was not to supply any first aid creams. This is fine if this is their policy but why did they not tell us immediately do they not know their own policy.I insisted they keep a record of the accident and they agreed. I never saw what they wrote.I supplied my email address as I wanted them to contact me. Several weeks later I have heard nothing no apology and no expressions of concern.Quite clearly this is a restaurant who cares nothing if they cause an injury to their customers. Such a lack of basic care."

"We had previously visited ASK Italian in another town and were not impressed with their vegan options, but decided to give them another chance. When we arrived at the restaurant at 11:30 am, there was no one around except for the kitchen staff. After waiting for about 10 minutes and with the assistance of one of the chefs, we were finally seated without an apology for the delay. The separate vegan menu offered a few pizzas with vegan mozzarella and some pasta choices. We opted to try the vegetable soup, rosemary and sea salt bread, and vegetable pasta (fettuccine con verdure). The food arrived quickly, though we were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. The soup was enjoyable, the bread was average for its price, but the pasta was disappointing. Drenched in oil with no hint of the advertised garlic and chilli seasoning, all I could taste was the olive tapenade, which also had an oily taste. My stomach felt unsettled for the rest of the day. To add to the disappointment, we received the bill promptly, but had to wait a while to pay as there was a delay in getting someone to assist us. Overall, our dining experience was underwhelming, starting and ending with waiting to be served."

"When we arrived the car park was almost full at Belluno's, a good sign. The welcome was friendly and the atmosphere and room space was very good. The food is excellent with a wide choice of pasta, pizza, meats and fish, with some gluten free options too. We had no complaints with the presentation or taste, it was all excellent. Service was timely and the staff were very attentive. An excellent place for couples and families for a great night out. Its not the cheapest, but quality never is. Just to note, that we did not see a service charge, so tipping is voluntary which was nice. We gave a tip, but having the choice is good. Overall, a lovely evening out and well worth visiting for a celebration or treat at this establishment. I hope you're experience there is as good as ours was. Atb"
