"Pretty poor service and food at Shabab Express, Leeds although the express part lived up to it's name! We felt rushed, that the food was quite generic (two completely separate dishes we ordered were exactly the same I kid you not... Lovely chapatis though! Coffee tasted rubbery and stale. Won't be returning which is a shame as the place is lovely in terms of decor and it was certainly busy on a saturday night, we paid £20 a head though and everyone had indigestion afterwards."

"We are a group of friends who regularly visit this restaurant and it has quickly become our favorite local curry spot due to the high quality of the food. While it primarily operates as a takeout place, it also has a small dining area. The food is always delicious, the portions are generous, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. We also appreciate being able to bring our own wine and beer. "This place would not be for everyone but to me has to be one of Birmingham's best kept secrets. The outside of this place is a traditional boozer but as soon as you walk in you are hot with the smell of amazing Indian cooking! We were shown to our table and had our drink orders taken quickly....but don't be expecting restaurant table service this was a full on lean behind and order across the bar near where we were sat. Possibly one of the most relaxed services I have ever seen but the staff could not have done more for us. We ordered a large mixed grill to share and some masala seasoned fries....no I am not joking the food was insanely good. The platter was packed full of chicken, fish and lamb and everything was perfectly cooked and spiced. We had two cokes each while eating and the bill only came to 25! Amazing value and my friend said it was as good as the good she had while visiting India....I have not been but judging from the quality meal we had I want to go ASAP. Now I need to re-illiterate an earlier point this place is not a restaurant....it's a pub serving amazing food that is very much a traditional Brum Boozer. While we were in the place we watched the footy, chatted to some guys crowded round the bar and listened to some people singing football chants (it was some sort of football final) To me this adds to the charm but I know it wouldn't be for everyone. My advice....go here....eat all the meat...."

"I recommend this place very much! the two brothers waiting for us were absolutely fantastic. they were so friendly and we had so much sharpened with them it was funny. the atmosphere is very relaxed and cooled, definitiw felt comfortable there and eating was not so good. I couldn't owe it. they have all curries tailored to our own individual flavoring preferences, fresh, authentic and tasteful. yes, there was a light wait for the main thing, but fair to be, not so much longer than other places in the great scheme of the dinge, and I am more than happy to wait a little longer for food when it tastes good. if it is cooked to order what do they expect? Moreover, it meant that we go the appetizers and enjoy a drink and a chat while we waited. can't wait to go back."

"Food was excellent and well priced. I had no complaints at all and was discussing returning for more soon. That was until it came to paying. Our bill was cheap, 31.50 for two of us and we were nice and full. I asked to pay by card and asked to put the payment up to 35 to give a tip. The waiter looked at me and said, “Haven’t you just got cash for the tip?” I replied that I rarely carry cash and would like to just add the amount onto the card payment. I then entered the 3.50 into the gratuity section and proceeded to pay. I went to hand the device back and it was snatched from my hand to where I almost accidently pulled my card out of it. I was then told “I don’t get those tips, I can only keep tips in cash”. All of this was done in an incredibly rude manner. I paid a tip after all, and I now wish I hadn’t. I won’t be going back if that is the attitude you have towards well meaning customers. It’s a shame because we really enjoyed the food and the experience right up until the very last interaction. Have words."

"Five of us went for dinner with a 7.30 booking. We didnt get seated till after 8.30. We ordered our food (only mains) and then waited over an hour before our food came. Then we waited another 15 minutes for our nans and rice. Meanwhile we realised our food was only lukewarm. When this was pointed out to the waiter, he took our food and bought it back within 2 minutes. It was obviously heated in the microwave. This meal was a comedy of errors. The food was only average. We were offered complimentary drinks which when the bill came, we had been charged for it!!! Avoid at all costs."

I didn’t see what the panic was until he said, “the restaurants will stop serving by now?” Saturday night??? 22.00??? So I said let’s find an Indian? They’re open til 4am!!! Not in England!!!!!! (Well at least posher places like Dorset He drove to Westbourne and the Westbourne tandoori caught my eye! It’s bright pink from the outside and when u enter they had really good recent music playing… there are roses and elephant heads on the walls. Really unusual… my kind of place! We ordered a garlic chicken dish.. and a Balti and two beers. We were the only ones left there by 22.30 and it was strange coz in Newport Wales it’s just starting to get lively! Lol. We had a lovely chat with the owner Amz? He’s really passionate about his business (good guy! Had a nice meal.. it’s not a negative comment but obviously the price range here and the amount of meat in the dishes are different than my local Indian restaurant in Newport because Southern England is double the price to live! However, the prices are relatable to the area and I would’ve liked a “couple” pieces more chicken. But I’m a spoilt Cheap Welsh lady! So yes, hopefully when we return there will be live entertainment and we will get to meet the great owner again! Mr. Amz!"
