"I’m from Wales and it’s alien to me how people in England eat so early on a Saturday night? In Newport and Cardiff u go out and have a few beers and go have a curry at midnight/1/2/3am!? Lol x So I came to see a dear friend who lives in Dorset and we had a few beers and he didn’t realise it was 10 o clock? PM!!!! I didn’t see what the panic was until he said, “the restaurants will stop serving by now?” Saturday night??? 22.00??? So I said let’s find an Indian? They’re open til 4am!!! Not in England!!!!!! (Well at least posher places like Dorset He drove to Westbourne and the Westbourne tandoori caught my eye! It’s bright pink from the outside and when u enter they had really good recent music playing… there are roses and elephant heads on the walls. Really unusual… my kind of place! We ordered a garlic chicken dish.. and a Balti and two beers. We were the only ones left there by 22.30 and it was strange coz in Newport Wales it’s just starting to get lively! Lol. We had a lovely chat with the owner Amz? He’s really passionate about his business (good guy! Had a nice meal.. it’s not a negative comment but obviously the price range here and the amount of meat in the dishes are different than my local Indian restaurant in Newport because Southern England is double the price to live! However, the prices are relatable to the area and I would’ve liked a “couple” pieces more chicken. But I’m a spoilt Cheap Welsh lady! So yes, hopefully when we return there will be live entertainment and we will get to meet the great owner again! Mr. Amz!"

The curry itself was good, nothing special but certainly tasty. It was however extraordinarily expensive and the waiter was indifferent to the point of being rude. Everyone has an off night and the food was, as I say, good.

The best halal indian restaurant in Bournemouth, we were served by Emon, he was very patient and calm during the order despite our indecisiveness. He remained professional throughout the ordering process. The food portions were great, the vegitable curry was amazing and spicy at our request. Sultana and friends from London

What a great Indian restaurant. I’ve been here many times and had great food over the years but this time was outstanding. The service was prompt and efficient without being rushed. The food was vibrant, fresh flavoured and plentiful. Our 12 year old loved his first tast of Samosas it and cleared his plate of the main. Thanks guys keep on going! View menu

We haven't been here since pre covid and looks to be under new management. Maybe because it was a Thursday night but it was pretty dead sadly. And the food was a little bland and not particularly hot. For a start, the tikka is no longer served on a hot metal dish sizzling. Shame as it used to be great food and had a buzz about the place. Now I need to find a new tandoori

Booked occasion one month prior to going online, got the confirmation, on arrival with eight other friends, they had no booking and was full, had events night that evening with two sittings, showed them my confirmation, but had to wait one and a half hours for second sitting, food was good, but they need to check there online booking system, would advise anyone else to back up with a phone call.

Another GREAT meal and experience and Westbourne Tandoori 13/5/2022. There were 15 of us ladies to celebrate welcoming my Boss's baby. Anwar and Emz made it a special arrival for the Expecting Mum. All our curries came out at the same time and piping hot, hats off to the Chef and waiting Staff! I had the Patia and it was the best tasting and flavour some Patia I have ever had, I really enjoyed it. Though Sad I accidentally left my leftovers behind View menu

We had a takeaway for 4 last evening, this being our first visit here. Firstly it is very expensive and there seems no justification for this. The food was overall very disappointing. Many dishes such as veg. curry ,biriyani, and chicken balti were bland and lacking any flavour or character. The okra was probably tinned and again lacked any flavour. On this tasting I cannot understand how it won awards seemingly the competition wasn't that high. Certainly we have not found a good Indian restaurant in this area. Really can't recommend it.

Absolutely shocking service ,phoned at 5.15 placed our order, told it would be 50 mins to an hour ,fair enough being a Friday eve. After an hour and a half called asking where our order was, they said it's on its way ,ten minutes max....half an hour later at 7.15 two hours after we placed our order,I called again ..all they could say was I'll check with my colleague, then when I said Ive been waiting two hours he said that's impossible we weren't even open then ?? !!!! Bearing in mind westbourne tandoori is always open at five to take orders !! Really awful service and total disrespect for our custom....

"We had called-here for drinks during a previous visit to Bournemouth. We were impressed with the wine we drank, and the food that we saw served to other customers. So, today was the realisation of a promise that we made-to-ourselves to revisit and, this time, dine! We were a few-minutes early for our 19:30 reservation having allowed too-much time for our half-a-mile walk from our hotel. The restaurant was not busy, and there were scant customers during our 2½ hour stay. There was only one, very pleasant, member of staff in the bar/dining area. We had assumed he was the Manager, and he did everything: menus, drinks, food orders, food service, and payment. He did this pleasantly with good humour, plus impressive efficiency and knowledge. The food here is principally ‘Sharing Boards’ but also available were smaller (snack) servings of Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie and other “Nibbles”. We chose an ‘Ultimate Board’ (intended for two people sharing and costing £36.95 in total). Within this price you select four types of charcuterie plus four types of cheese to complete the board. Drinks: we started with a 175ml glass of “Martin Codax Albariño” for each of us. The extensive and impressive wine list offers a good selection available by the 175 or 250ml glass: 6 white wines, 3 rosé wines, 9 red wines, 3 sparkling wines and 9 aperitif/digestif wines. The Albariño was very much enjoyed, whist we decided which bottle of wine we would have with our meal. After much thought we chose a bottle of Bin 31 ‘Laibach (Sur Lie) Stellenbosch’; a white wine from what is a great wine-producing region in South Africa. This was superbly delicate and gently flavoured; with the very slight effervescence from the ‘Sur Lie’ fermentation method (fermentation on the lees). We know this method well from Sur Lie Muscadet wines, from the Sèvre-et-Maine region in France. With our wine chosen, we concentrated on the charcuterie and fromage that we would like with our ‘Ultimate Board’. There was much debate between us, but eventually: Our choices of charcuterie were: Salami Milano: with a perfumed scent that was such a delight. Pâté: quite fine but rich and flavoursome. Venison Salami: surprising and just superb. Smoked Pancetta: we loved this delicately smoked pork belly which was served in the thinnest slices imaginable. The cheese was far more difficult to choose: A Cheddar was a no-brainer and it was good; however we have ‘Vintage’ Cheddar at home (aged for 36-60 months); so the Cheddar here was a bit tame for our tastes. Oak Smoked Lincolnshire Poacher: this was very disappointing as half of the piece was totally inedible rind, and the rest was almost impossible to cut with the cheese-knife provided. I brought this to the attention of the Manager this was exchanged with more of the Cheddar. Northern Blue: good and creamy and appreciably tangy. We had another cheese which was firm and good eating, but we cannot recall it’s name (that’s our fail then). To be honest, and sadly, we found the cheese to be not anywhere as good as the charcuterie, we like mostly hard, or at least firm cheese, with strong flavours. Brie, Camembert and other soft cheeses rarely feature at our home (the somewhat explains our choices). The board was loaded with extra ingredients: a good selection of salad and fruit: cream cheese stuffed cherry tomatoes, lovely crunchy astringent cornichon, fresh grapes and pitted olives. There was also a pot of hummus, onion relish, cheese crackers, and a basket of bread (the latter of which we ordered a second). The meal was still a very favourable experience; made better by the extra cornichon provided. Just because I said how much I loved the texture and flavour of these wonderful ‘little gherkins’. After our board we were quite replete and there was no-way we could have managed a dessert, but an extra glass of Viognier for my Partner, and a wonderful 10-year-old Tawny Port for myself, finished-off the meal splendidly."
