"So much better than a chain steak house we had calamari followed by top notch fillet steaks that were beautifully cooked and came with garlic prawns, fries, onion rings and green beans. So nothing surprising on the menu, excellent service and you get what you pay for. The rottisserie chicken is a great idea as you can dine with friends and family who don't want steak or don't eat beef."

"After we had recently had two meal times at this site, we were looking forward to the same degree of satisfaction. first, all were fine order drinks and the salatable fulfilled the last high standards, but our opposite was pretty busy. there were families with young children who became louder and louder. the waitress spent some time seeing their needs so that others had to wait tables. when the food arrived, it seemed quite dry my meal as a repetition of my first visit it was simply not so good tasted) with black overcooked mushrooms. the whammy with my wife and my meal was slightly burned. I said it tasted more like a hungry horse meal. Finally, we had to wait for over 20 minutes to pay our bill, as the 25% offer did not seem to be accepted by their time. this also happened during a previous visit, but was addressed within 6 or 7 minutes."

"There 's no doubt The Duchy has come to life once again. Food and service is great. The place is an absolute gem, being a traditional English pub so near to the bustle of central London life but a world apart from that bustle, being what we Brits call a Local ; just south of the River Thames. Sunday lunch in a homely, cosy pub is always a relaxing experience before the new week fires up. So why 3 stars? Whether you 're a local or on holiday (at the increasing number of Airbnb 's in Kennington) it remains an irritation about sneaky mark ups on that nice bottle of wine the two of you want to share with the food. That 's the significant down side to the current business model for the beloved Duchy. Take one example, a bottle of Cotes du Rhone Village Les Coteaux; shown in my photo as £10.99 wholesale. Sold to accompany your lovely meal in the Duchy at £31. That 's a mark up of 182%. Let 's hope the current management team wise up to that not being realistic in a Kennington Pub (yes it 's the industry average for Mayfair /Shard /Battersea Power Station/ Knightsbridge/ Kings Road) but not for our little Gastropub in Kennington. So let 's crack on and sort that out."

"Absolutely wonderful! My sister and I recently visited while camping in the area and we fancied lunch after mooching about the Castle. We arrived and sat in the beautiful outdoor seating area (gorgeous views! with our two dogs, both of whom were warmly welcomed. Alex took our order for drinks and food and he was so sweet and knowledgeable. I'm not exaggerating even a little when I say that Alex arrived back with our drinks 3 4 minutes later and, maybe 2 3 mins after that, so did our food! I've never had such friendly and insanely fast service and the place was pretty busy, too! It wasn't just us our neighbouring table explained that they come here often and it's always that good. To top it off, the food was sooo delicious and I wolfed it down. I'm gutted that I don't live closer, because I'd be here all the time if I did! Can't speak highly enough of this place, it was such a gem to find and ended our camping trip on a perfect high. Shout out to Alex for being such a gem! I hope to return in future :"

"I have been to Randall Aubin’s a few times over the years and it never ever disappoints! Great food and drinks on a well considered menu of the very highest quality . Also the staff are excellent, we had the lovely Sussulicious looking after us this time , she was charming and added to the whole experience our lunch was a good 3 hours . Magnifique!!"

"I booked a table for 8.15pm on Sunday and was asked on the form if it was a special occasion. I noted that it was our anniversary. We arrived and then discovered that the restaurant closed at 9pm. It was the most rushed dinner, not cheap and they had run out of some beer and the vegetarian salads we requested. No ambience as there were no other customers. I’m sure they just had had a busy day but it would have been useful to have been told that they would be closing 45 minutes later when I booked."

"Modern, casual restaurant and bar right in the centre of St. Ives. Great food ranging from slow cooked pork belly, duck salad, mussels, crab, cornish sardines and pizzas. I particularly like the fish and seafood dishes and have sampled the starters of grilled cornish sardines with salsa verde as well as chilli squid with lime and coriander mayo. A main course of cornish crab linguine with chilli, garlic and ginger was simply good with generous lumps of white crab meat. On a previous visit I enjoyed roasted sea bass fillets on crayfish and rocket risotto which was also great. Dessert of sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream was excellent and sinful. Service is excellent and friendly and there are great views of the bay through the restaurant windows. Downstairs is the bar area. Great value too."

"What a shame, we are locals that have had drinks and light bites, dinner with friends and even taken over for a 60th Birthday party. .... but... unfortunately an over zealous bouncer has now stopped us twice from entering as we had no booking and although plenty of room for us stopped a Sunday stroll and pop in for a glass, prawns and clams.....apparently no booking now no entry! What a shame. Off to Bliss on Wilsden lane no such rules. Shame shame shame."

"Lovely inside as it had a makeover thought I'd try the signature surf and turf at £20.00 what an awful mistake the sirloin steak was thin and small the 3 battered king prawns when I removed the batter was as I expected very cheap watery puny prawns frozen chips and a rather disgusting chimichurri green herb and oil sauce which I found tasteless and pointless It's not worth the money or even with a discount If prawns are being served they should be battered crevettes which are good quality large meaty delicious prawns there's nothing worse when restaurants cut corners"

"Do not be fooled by the initial impression as a buoyant hotspot of authentic Mexican cuisine in a vivacious corner of Notting Hill Santo is an affront to decency. To look back on the experience in a positive light would be, at best, futile, and it is clear that I am not alone in holding this view. Such a flagrant disregard for culinary aptitude is seldom encountered, and they likewise miss the value for money criterion by a rather impressive margin. Our meal was capped off by an awkward exchange with an arrogant degenerate, posing as a waitress, upon our rational refusal to pay the laughable discretionary service charge, and is one that we, as long as we are able to reason, will never seek to repeat."

"For our starter, we received three small pots of homemade sauces and some oily tortillas. The tacos were bland. Since we don’t eat meat, we opted for the sweet potato tacos with feta cheese, which were decent thanks to the flavors of the sweet potato and cheese. However, we wanted variety and ordered a different option next time: black bean tacos with cheese. Unfortunately, they were dry and underwhelming. The saving grace was the salty insistent on avocado—though it was just a piece with a fried egg, and still lacked flavor. The deep-fried fish taco was the only one I enjoyed. Sadly, all the taco tortillas were soggy, cold, and fell apart easily, served with awkward, raw-looking garnishes. The staff seemed disorganized, and to top it off, there was a 12.5% service charge added to our bill. I paid it but left feeling dissatisfied. I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone."

"Went in for lunch Tuesday 14th June. Plenty of parking. We arrived at about 12.30 so wasn’t that busy. But it did seem to get quite a few other diners in quickly after that. We were allowed to choose our own table, plenty of options on where to sit. Once seated our drinks order was quickly taken and served. A pint of Estrella lager, £5.50, and a pint of Hobgoblin Gold, £4.15. We decided to go for the lunchtime menu. 2 course at £12.50 and the 3 course at £15.00. Bruschetta and Breaded garlic mushrooms to start. Ham, double egg and chips and Cajun Chicken for mains and one desert, Apple and Caramel Tart. Don’t be put off by the picture of the fried eggs. That’s how he likes them. Good sized portions, food good quality. No complaints other than the dirty glass I got the Hobgoblin in. Didn’t notice it until I was half way through the pint. Overall felt it was excellent value for money. Staff appeared very efficient and friendly. Based on this experience up to this point I would have recommended. Also would probably have used again especially as we were given a discount voucher for our next visit. However, after leaving and doing this review checked the bill and, by my calculation, we have been overcharged. It appears that no discount was given for having the three course set lunch unless I have missed something. Bit annoyed by this as we left a good tip of close on 20% for the young lady that served us. Didn’t notice when we were paying as we still thought it was relatively inexpensive. And had already left a review with Marstons before I noticed the discrepancy in the bill pointing out the efficiency of the staff who served us. One can only hope it was an error rather that done deliberately. Guess I will never know. However, it has left a rather bad impression hence the 3 star review. Ignoring the issue with the bill I would recommend. It’s good value for money. Even better if you get the correct discount. But it’s unlikely that I would now go back to this establishment. However, I would be willing to eat out again in Marstons other pubs. It’s just a shame how one thing can sour an otherwise good experience. After posting this review I was contacted by Marston's. I was advised that there was a discrepancy with the till system which had been logged with their retail systems office. I rang the establishment, left my details and was called back by Keith, the restaurant manager. After discussing this with him I said I would leave my review on but would add this paragraph and change my review to four stars. After all if one was to ignore the discrepancy on the bill the service was very good and the quality and quantity of the food was excellent value for money. If we visited again he promised it would be a five star experience. We will probably take him up on that offer."
"Excellent place to stay. The breakfast staff are out of this world. Couldn't do enough for you. We would get a box to take away some things from the continental breakfast for later on our travels. The Smashed avocado on toast with bacon was the best in my opinion. So good i forgot to take pictures which i usually do. The rooms were very comfy and clean, and had a large T.V. inside with access to the side hdmi if you want to plug in your own device. They provided everything for you with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. But they didn't have shampoo just a 2 in 1 which most women won't use. All round great place to stay."

"on Saturday night on the way back from nottingham. pub is beautiful inside and spacious, although we were busy to show a table. we ordered and even though we advise, it could wait a minute that we didn't...mind the food came in about minen and was good, well presented and hot, both I and my wife enjoyed it. what pampered the evening, the three teenagers on the next table were two youngs and a girl and the continued use of the F word that we could clearly hear. we have thought about bringing it to the attention of a fellow worker, but it seemed that they were kind with the staff anyway, as the young behind the bar with them a few times embarrassed and at a point screamed over one of the young with names and said he admired him for that on the jack daniels. we had planned on a dessert, but both my wife and I had heard enough of the speech and we left until this time. A pity that some of the workers did not make the management aware, as they must have heard it when they brought food to the tables. as a scandal as eating and service were good. I would like to think it was a departure, but since some of the employees knew them with names and seemed friendly with them, I am not so sure. to be clear, I am not a prudential one and have worked on places where bad speech is and is accepted every day, but a family pub where people enjoy a meal with children is not one of them."

"Service poor. Early evening booking so only option was 2 or 3 course pre-theatre menu. Food OK but uninspiring. I had hummus and pita bread then roast chicken with gravy and fries. Very small table so when the main course was brought over before the starter plates had been removed it was a ridiculous situation. We ordered another 175 glass of wine each with our main. Finished our mains, had to eventually ask for table to be cleared, which was greeted with a dour look and shrug and table not cleared. Had to go up to the bar to find out what had happened to the drinks ordered. No apology from same dour female who had taken the order (possibly the manager? , simply a curt 'what did you order '. Drinks delivered with the bill with no apology or explanation. Bill was incorrect and we didn 't have time for our drinks by then. When we questioned the bill we were dealt with by a different female who was charming and very apologetic. Used to enjoy dining here so very disappointed in the experience."

"had a nice meal at pecking order. super friendly service and good food. Mac cheese truffle bites were hot, crisp and tasty, and the naked blt had tender, moist chicken, crispy speck, embroidered with a soft poached egg. sweet potato fries as a side tasty. after that I ordered a takeaway for the son of the redisserie of my friend, who was cooked to order, very generous portion size for the chicken (we only ordered a quarter) as well as for the thin liquid pommes that accompanied it. "with my friend written on a september Saturday, in the middle of a short break in the cotswolds. very warm and friendly greeting from barman / renter and maid serve (berry we have no names! , especially from the pub-dog molly. nice to see a detached house still, with a few good hand pumps ales on (I had the lamb bitter together with a decent selection of gas cocks. decoration and feeling creates the seemingly popular 'shabby chic'/pseudo old world country style with mixed / interesting used furniture and right (for me! 'classical pub' feeling. I'm not a big fan of pubs to Gastro/Faux land to be more city/city and new (ish country types, but then I got on 'proper' rural/empty from nowhere to kneipen with mud on the floors, no heating and gents loos at least 3 fields away, so that the lamb good to move with the times and still keep me happy to go? it is a hard business and people, including bar and waiting staff, need to make a living. sae in superdog friendly multi-level gardens, and some people just there for a few drinks, so good to see a mix of drink and eater welcome. I had the 'cracked pork' burger, the super tasty pork was a crispy peking style, my partner a generous caesar salat with excellent sardels. all in, a crisp independent old pub in a beautiful village, give a warm and friendly welcome to the trade as well as local, catering for walkers and dogs in an attractively furnished pub served right beer and really good eating. if something could be improved, a few lighter, simple items like a traditional ploughman 's or a few sandwiches on the lunch menu I would surely go down a storm, especially for walker/cycists, but everything in big things long can be successful!"

"we had booked a table for 18:30 on Tuesday, but also on an off-peak day/time was the place immaculate. the waiting staff were very pleasant and helpful, even asking for all allergies that may require changes to our eating. the first cure was an amuse bouche of coronation chicken on crostini, which was a nice little tasty. starter, we ordered the artichoke salad and the area. the area was really fleshy and tasty, like the wobble chutney that accompanies it. the salat was shameful and really tasteful. mains, we both ordered the same thing that the pork belly was with black pudding and datum stuffing, rosmarin thymianmash and a sausage and beans-collectulet. that was absolutely delicious. we rounded off the 4 courses with a sharing plate of cheesecake with Californian lemon peel vanilleeis and a lemon capsule mixed with raspberry cola. that was phenomenal. all in all a really pleasant evening with excellent dining and service. we will definitely return."

"I really don 't like to make negative comments about place like this and I 'm quite understanding of the difficulties they can have, but this was a genuinely disappointing experience. The first thing that struck, was the food scraps left under the table, which doesn 't give a great impression regarding cleanliness. The table we were given had two heights, which created obvious issues regarding drink stability. The menu is quite varied, with a couple of vegan a some vegetarian options on offer. The prices appear a little on the expensive end of the scale, as it 's hardly Michelin standard. When we had finished, we were asked how the meal was, we mentioned that the children 's cheeseburgers had been quite peppery, especially for young children. I mentioned that I tried it myself and I found it to be too peppery to enjoy, the response was not particularly apologetic, from either of the staff members we told. I would guess that nothing we said will be taken into account and that pepper would continue to be over used. The indoor children 's 'play area , has 4 wall puzzles and 3 vending machines, in addition to plenty of litter, which had clearly been there for some time. The staff were polite, but clearly at a loss of what to do in the event of customer complaints. In summary, it was somewhere that offered vegan options, the service was fine, parking is easy, unfortunately however, it won 't be on my must go back list."

"I was thrilled to find multiple vegan options on the menu at this restaurant. I tried the signature health kick salad, spring vegetable risotto, and beetroot mint coriander burger, all of which were delicious. I was also delighted to see two vegan dessert options, the Cookie Butter Cheesecake and Raspberry and Lemon Cheesecake, both served with vegan ice cream. It was refreshing to have such a variety of choices available. Overall, I had a wonderful lunch and would highly recommend this restaurant."
