"on Saturday night on the way back from nottingham. pub is beautiful inside and spacious, although we were busy to show a table. we ordered and even though we advise, it could wait a minute that we didn't...mind the food came in about minen and was good, well presented and hot, both I and my wife enjoyed it. what pampered the evening, the three teenagers on the next table were two youngs and a girl and the continued use of the F word that we could clearly hear. we have thought about bringing it to the attention of a fellow worker, but it seemed that they were kind with the staff anyway, as the young behind the bar with them a few times embarrassed and at a point screamed over one of the young with names and said he admired him for that on the jack daniels. we had planned on a dessert, but both my wife and I had heard enough of the speech and we left until this time. A pity that some of the workers did not make the management aware, as they must have heard it when they brought food to the tables. as a scandal as eating and service were good. I would like to think it was a departure, but since some of the employees knew them with names and seemed friendly with them, I am not so sure. to be clear, I am not a prudential one and have worked on places where bad speech is and is accepted every day, but a family pub where people enjoy a meal with children is not one of them."

"Really solid. Burgers were great, loads of vegetarian options too. Would fully recommend booking in advance if you want to eat in as it's a tiny little place but agree with a lot of the other reviews, food was excellent, staff were friendly. Quite expensive for a burger I'd say but no complaints about the food. Be aware it's not toddler friendly in the sense that there no room for prams or high chairs, but they're happy to have you all the same and do have kids options, although they're honestly not much smaller than the adult portions really."

"We visited this restaurant in June 2022 and were disappointed to find that there was no separate vegan menu as indicated on the Happy Cow website. There were only 2 vegan options available on the regular menu: a salad and a burger, although the burger we received was not as pictured and did not include a Moving Mountain patty. The burger we ordered was dry and tasteless, accompanied by a dry salad and half of a roasted pepper. The children's menu offered only two options: a burger and sausage with chips. My child chose the sausages, but they were also dry and unappetizing, reminiscent of veggie sausages from 20 years ago with a hard shell and soft center. In all honesty, the vegan options at this restaurant were barely edible and not worth considering, even after a day of hiking and mountain biking when we were particularly hungry."

"we've eaten here three times in the last month. the first time was a Sunday afternoon, where we couldn't owe food or service. the second time it was just me and my partner. we were really disappointed as we showed ourselves our sitting, but we stayed 20 minutes there until someone ordered a drink, at this point we were ready to order food. then we waited 15 minutes until the drinks came to the table. it didn't look as much as our previous visit. we wanted to give the place to the advantage of the doubt so that we came yesterday 08/10/17 and we were a table of 6 it was for my partner birthday. the food and the service were fabulous again. there is only one mix in the order, but they sort it immediately. I would recommend this place for family and friends x"

"We popped into The Sun on Bank Holiday Saturday lunchtime, 5 adults, 1 child and a baby. No booking. There were 2 functions. We were seated promptly, served impeccably, the food and drinks were excellent. The manager was alert, on top of everything and the server of our table was efficient and extremely polite. We came away really impressed."

"Been several times now and enjoyed a warm welcome and good food. If I had to be critical the puds were not to my liking but I accept that’s purely a personal choice and not a criticism of the quality. The very discerning in-laws also...rate this pub and they get around most pubs and restaurants in the area (from bog standard grub pubs to gastro pubs and restaurants). Love the owner’s wandering dog too loves to say hello but please don’t feed it as they are trying to keep its weight down . If passing do try it out, although we’ve discovered it early booking is advised. Really pleased that this place is doing well well done to those in charge."

"First of all, it is a beautiful building and staff all very pleasant and friendly. We both had market menu. Although I am not celiac, I try not to eat too much gluten as it really doesn't agree with me. We both chose the chicken schnitzel which interestingly had gluten free bread crumbs. It was fine but it wasn't really to my taste. I would have liked pasta but they do not serve gf pasta. The creme brulé was lovely. I have been here once before with friends and had a lovely meal from the main menu. My minor gripe is the lack of gf pasta. There are some really good ones available. I would recommend this restaurant for those with allergies however, as they can readily produce an allergens list for all dishes. I will certainly go back but will eat from the main menu."

"Poor service from the very beginning should have took that as a sign not to order food! Bar staff inattentive had to wait even though there was no queue. Food order placed starter arrived, no cutlery provided. We asked for som,e to be told we had to wait for the dishwasher to finish!!! Cutlery eventually arrived. Main meal arrived 3x hunters chicken and one Mac n cheese. Portion sizes were inadequate for the price paid. The hunters chicken was hard and very dry. Chips were very average. We did express our concerns to the so called manager, Danny I believe. He didn't even come to the table to address the issues! No apology at all! Diabolical experience! Yes there was a full refund issued but that might have been after they'd read my review. Yes some of the meals had been eaten, because we were very hungry. The manager that addressed the issues was rude, dismissive and barely gave an apology!"

"The pub is situated in a pleasant location with a nice atmosphere and well-presented decor. We ordered mushrooms for our starters and haddock and chips for our main course. Unfortunately, our main dish arrived before our starters, and we had to wait a few more minutes for them to be served. It took about 20 minutes for our starter plates to be cleared and over 30 minutes for our main course to arrive. After inquiring about the delay, we were informed that our food had been given to someone else by mistake. Another 15 minutes later, we finally received our main course with just a half-hearted apology. The chips appeared to be frozen oven chips, the fish batter was overcooked and tough, and the minted peas were lukewarm and lacked flavor. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. The pub was busy, but that should not excuse a meal taking over an hour to be served."

"Not been for a while but came on Saturday early evening for a meal. Wasn't too busy while we were there and the service was good as always. I had the chicken chorizo and honey pizza. As always the dough was very good although I'd say that the pizza was overcooked and could have done with a minute less in the oven (the base was very very hard and crispy, and the edges were not as puffy soft as on previous visits). My wife had the chicken tenders with fries (upgraded to the roast loaded fries). The chicken tenders were very good. The chicken on my pizza as well as the chicken on top of the fries was quite dry and we expected better from a place that has a lot of chicken on the menu. I would choose the goats cheese and chorizo pizza next time as I've had that before and it was really good. And no point paying more for a pizza that has chicken on if it's going to be dry. We will come back again and I hope that the pizza isn't as well cooked next time. Hopefully it was just a one off. I recognise that there's a fine line between perfectly cooked and over cooked when it comes to pizza ovens, but the chef should be on top of it. Thanks for a good meal overall."

"Booked a table on Friday night for 7pm. We were seated and the waitress took our orders. Sadly, that’s when our dining experience started to go wrong. After 20 minutes, our drinks still hadn’t arrived and we had to remind the waitress, who was so busy cleaning tables that she completely ignored us. When the drinks arrived, it was clear that the two bottles had been opened and left on the bar for some time, as the Chablis was luke warm. We asked the waitress for another bottle, only to be informed that they had “no more bottles downstairs”, and we had to request an ice bucket as one was not offered. Sadly, the wine was so warm that only the last glasses were anything near the correct temperature. Our starters finally came, lamb koftas and pate. All ok. Sadly, this was the last time we saw our waitress, as I assume she then immediately finished her shift. By 9pm, the main courses hadn’t arrived, so we gave up and left. Sam, the chap on duty, was lovely and very apologetic, but two hours to be served a slice of toast and hot £30 white wine is just dreadful."

"Came on Christmas Day and I have to say I was really disappointed with the main meal. The roast potato was not roasted but instead raw, the cabbage and sprouts were overcooked mush, we’d had to wait almost an hour between the starter and main course and on highlighting the problems with the meal staff suddenly changed their very friendly attitude to being quite short with us despite assuring the waitress that our complaint was not aimed at her but at the person who had cooked the food. We were not offered our tea and coffee after the meal and the waitress would not leave the bill with us but instead waited over us while we arranged between us paying for the drinks, usually they give the bill and return a short while later. Felt like they couldn’t wait to get rid of us despite only raising the issue once and being quite nice about it despite paying almost £60 for a meal that was substandard. "As always, I ended up at the wrong restaurant. However, it turned out to be a delightful experience! I hadn't visited a Harvester in years, at least not to eat, and I wondered if they still offered unlimited salad. To my delight, they do! After enjoying three bowls of salad, our main course arrived. We ordered the Veggie Combo V for two, which included grilled Mediterranean vegetables, honey grilled halloumi, golden rice, BBQ pit beans, slaw, and chips, all served with a tomato and smoked paprika dip. Ashton gave a big thumbs up to the macaroni cheese and ice cream. Honestly, for pub food, it was fantastic! I didn't eat the slaw and only had a couple of chips; I would have preferred a bit more rice and vegetables instead. Overall, it was a great meal—thank you! Sorry for the mess, by the way! PS: I loved the murals!"

"A really good dinner venue which is sensibly priced, has a great young team, a varied menu and a really eclectic wine list with some great wines (and value on it. On the wines, we started with a carafe of the white wine of the month pinot Gris and blanc mix, which was excellent and onto a Sicilian red (see photo . We shared 3 small plates, all of which were excellent, and the corn dish had some Indian spices which enhanced it, but didn’t overwhelm. Tomatoes with capers and anchovies was subtle as I find anchovies can overwhelm, and this didn’t. Cheese with asparagus also light, and our nephew polished off a plate of bread (3 types . Our waiter suggested that if we wanted a rotisserie chicken (with chips and salad best chips I have had in ages! , we order it then because it would take an hour. That order went in immediately, by the time we had ordered drinks and finished off the starters, the chicken arrived. Delicious and we took some home. Desserts were a little disappointing after the high bar of the previous dishes: but the fruits in the two dishes were lovely. Couple of sweet wines and we were off. £260 for 3."

"Nice decor and location. The pub was quiet for a Sunday. The service was very average and no smiles for example we complimented the belly pork to be told “that’s nice glad you thought it was ok” where’s the enthusiasm? In terms of the food the roast dinners were great (they should be for the price!! , but the burger was stingy and dry, as well as poorly presented. The crumble was really awful why was the topping in large rock hard chunks and there was hardly any fruit? The icecream on the side was melting before it even arrived a really small portion all in for £8. Should have sent it back but didn’t want to make a fuss.The sticky toffee was ok. The children’s meals are £10 including icecream which was okay as they were quite big portions but not great for tiny ones on our table who only ate 1/3 of it. All in over £70 for a beer, a coke, a roast, a burger and 2 desserts (and 10% tip . Very disappointed considering it’s “Michelin recommended”"

"Im not that person who’s complain but this was hilarious… We went for burger dinner, we got starter (was fine), we was waiting for our “magical” burger like owner post everywhere pictures and mension it. We got the burgers and we can’t eat of the meat smell… It was bad meat. We ask nicely to the waitress to come over and she said I will sent you manager, we said yeah thats fine. Manager came ant took our plates to the “chef” to check the meat. She came back and said oh so we check the meat and its all fine its just “yours taste” I said but sorry the meat its stinks and we don’t want to eat that.. She said I TRIED AND THE CHEF TRIED so its all good, I said so what we gona do now? she said I CAN BRING YOU BACK THE BURGERS BECAUSE ITS ALL GOOD, I said but you just said you tried it with the chef and you asking me do I want it back? So they told us yous have to pay all bill because its nothing wrong with it, so we eat half mac&cheese dring few pints and pay for it 42£ , never ever and I would never reccomend for anyone"
