"We have had lunch here 4 times in the last year and, up to now, have been very happy, hence we return. Unfortunately, today was the exception: only Julie's cheerful and efficient service (as always) kept this from a mediocre 3/5. Our starters and Fish Chips main were fine but certainly not outstanding, and the menu really lacks anything innovative or original. As the Beefeater name suggests a specialism in steaks, our other main was a 10oz rib eye, ordered medium rare: what turned up was a thin-cut steak, cooked medium (it would have been difficult to cook this piece of meat as requested. Certainly not worth the £20 price tag, and to pay an additional £1.99 for a virtually tasteless peppercorn sauce added insult to injury. The speed of service was rather too quick for our liking: drinks, two courses, coffee, bill, and we we were out the door in less than 75 minutes. Main courses were served within literally a couple of minutes of the starter plates being cleared. We appreciate the 33% food discount, but without that, this meal would have cost over £73: at that price, we would expect better. We won't be back soon, unfortunately."

"at the arrival we were very well welcomed and the service is very nice here, we were set immediately. our starters were great, but that's where it ended! this place had a new boil (cook), as confirmed by the waitress and oh it shows! that is. a scandal for this place. the main thing my wife was served, I would ask someone “have they ever heard of a “Slowed belly Pork”, not to crack sat up?” ... but a huge piece slowly cook grossly fat. the answer would be from anyone who is more important a cook, no! we were then told: "It is not intended to crack and in the did have the slimy fat" I liked one! for someone who has worked in the kitchen for a few years, I find this insulting. in addition, I ordered a filet steak, a beautiful rest of the meat, which should be cooked with carefree bread to be served rare medium “good made” ... the waitress to her loan replaced it... shocked... medium turned. not what I wanted! I also asked for a red wine jes to be served a gravy. without red wine taste! at this point they have to ask who is in the kitchen. it's criminal to have a new cook that doesn't fit the ability to cook dishes with such fantastic products from a brilliant metzger that I spend at least months! these courses can be cooked better at home tonight. credit to the waitresses as they have to pick up the pieces, the owner of porterhouse has to get a proper cook that knows how to cook properly because slowly boiled boils. with a plate of slim un-Rededed pork fat is not as it should be done and filet steak is rare to medium as it says! very disappointed"

"This restaurant is in very poor condition. The first thing you see is a crumbling deck and two dead hanging baskets. The whole place looks run-down and past its prime. There's a sign at the checkout saying "we are short staffed please be patient", setting a negative tone before you even order. If they are short on staff, it would be better for them to acknowledge you and let you know they will help as soon as possible. We made a reservation for 8pm but arrived at 7:30pm for drinks. We received an email while seated, saying we needed to arrive earlier because the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. Since it was a Friday night and the atmosphere was lacking, we decided to leave as we thought the rushed food would not be good quality and likely pricey. The staff were fine, but that's the only positive thing to say about the place. It may have been better if they had just closed for the evening instead of sending negative messages to first-time customers. The restaurant needs to be closed for a thorough renovation."

"I made a reservation for my partner's birthday on March 9, 2016, at 8 PM. The restaurant was quite busy, and we ended up waiting 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. While we appreciated the apology from Michael, who also offered us a complimentary drink, I was disappointed with the T-bone steak I ordered. It was, unfortunately, the worst steak I have ever had—full of fat and gristle. I didn't want to make a fuss, especially since I could see my partner was getting anxious about the situation. After spending over £500 for the evening, most things were enjoyable, except for the rib room experience. While my steak left me dissatisfied, I’ve heard other diners at breakfast raving about the Pemberton restaurant, which is also much more affordable. My T-bone cost £27 there, so I would recommend trying Pemberton or Merge instead."

"we have heard good reviews, especially about the flourishing wobbles that the people recommended. we had this and the potato skins for the starter. was delicious, but the potato skins were a bit hard, but ate as they were delicious. we were at the end of the meal, when we realized that all the other tables that sit, broth for the table we did not give and were not offered. I ordered parmo (which was huge, good value for money), but the salat I had ordered with him was not up at all. my man ordered the steak pie, which was amazing, the steak was delicious and very delicate, but when he asked that some gravitation go with the maische and veg it took a while to come, he finished the vege and some of the maische before it appeared. eating was really good, no complaining at all and really good value, just forgetting a little, would spend only for the service. very romantic pub though and cerzen on every table, eating was nice and would go back."

"the property and the main building are beautiful. we were in a beautiful room with views of the marina. the concierge were all kind and extremely helpful, as most of the recipe staff cried to koin, which went beyond and beyond to make our stay especially as we celebrated a meilenstein birthday. Interestingly, one of the female receptors working on Monday night was not as helpful as colin when we asked them if the clubhouse could meet our nutritional requirements and even if we asked for a late check-out. the activities were good fun, although it is a scandal that the spa on various reasons removed a minute car. it means that they have to go back and forth or wait for a lift along the road, sometimes during the time of the traffic-rich traffic that can extend the trip overall, I would recommend to stay in the fireplace and would fortunately return to the future."

"Wow! Booked Porter Rye for my 40th birthday celebration with my husband. The customer service was outstanding, the staff very very attentive and lovely considering it was a Saturday night and busy! They went above and beyond and gave us complimentary prosecco as a birthday treat and a lovely plate of gorgeous little cakes with happy birthday written in chocolate at the end. It is the little things like this that make Porter Rye a truly special place! The restaurant has a really good atmosphere, we didn't want to leave! The food was out of this world, everything was cooked to perfection and clearly the chefs are at the top of their game. Genuinely can't wait to come back...thank you to all the team for making me feel special and for making the last night of my 30's one to remember! See you soon x"

"Set course for £19.99, including a bunch of sides, was a great value. Massive portions Service was fast, friendly and the lady serving us was great. Always looking out for our needs. The place needs better visibility outside. It's not very inviting, but the inside is a very cute basement. Deffiniately recommend. Will be coming back here again!"

"Visited Sahara Grill with family earlier on this evening. Was pleasantly surprised that we were seated quickly and were advised on how to access the menu. We arrived during prayer time so the kitchen was closed which we found very respectful. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and calm. However within 10 minutes the kitchen had re-opened again and we were asked for our order. Our waiter was well knowledged on the menu and advised us what was best. Our starters arrived very quickly and was delicious. The sahara passion Mocktail was a dream, very refreshing and full of flavour. The mains arrived very quickly too and really stole the show, both our steak and lamb meals were cooked to perfection, perfect portion size, full of flavour and meats were juicy, it was evident that alot of prep went into the marination and cooking. Cant fault this restaurant at all. Service was impeccable, staff were very friendly and came over for a chat, management were always seen and ensured everything ran smoothly. Huge thanks to Muhammad who took good care of us and gave our son a complimentary brownie with ice cream for his birthday. We would deffo come back here and try all the other items on the menu as we know the food is prepped and cooked well.Very fresh, very tasty, clean and friendly atmosphere. Respectful of peoples’ beliefs and great ambience.Management have done an amazing job of keeping and setting standards. Keep up the good work team"

"we were woven with the food and service at the potted pig! the most important thing from the pork pliers, which was both scrumbling and loud. what we thought could explode from the vertigo sizzling was intact by the pop rocks up on the spinat. it was just a bit fun, but also zing. the Walisian rarbit and potted pig first were delicious while we enjoyed the smoked chickenerritotto. the service was attentive, without disturbing our young, blonde, female server (forgot their name so sorry.) please see the attached pictures of our net. the presentation was impressive."

"we were in porterhouse grill and rooms at a weekend visit to oxford. it was the perfect place! it is easily accessible for parking, public transport and the sights of the city. it is five minutes to walk in the heart of the city. we ate in the pub and dining room and all the food was excellent. although it is called the porterhouse grill, al the food was excellent. my wife had seabreams that were grilled over coal to perfection. my sirloin was as they would expect. but what made the trip exceptional was the personal. Every person we interacted with was courteous, respectful, efficient and funny. they were all superpersonal. I loved talking to ali about the similarities of our former lives. we are back to porterhouse grill and rooms when we are in oxford!"

"it was very cool, but that was perhaps not very busy. the staff was very friendly. we were booked for 8.30 and were soon the only people left. Unfortunately, there were no more ribs than we had ordered, so that this was a little disappointing. our meals were very well presented and cooked for perfection. it is very strange to be the last table to leave the restaurant, but I suppose someone has to do it! good work we didn't want dessert!"

"Walked in and the girl behind the bar (wearing a coat still) didn’t even aknowledge us…. Took our drink order at the bar when she got to us and pointed our table out. I ordered a soft drink, they’re all just cans. My partner ordered a pint, it smelt of wet dog. The menus are big chalk boards by the door, so you have to stand and squash between a door and the bar to read the menu. The menus are big and look absolutely great. Unfortunately it was better on paper than on the plate. Ordered starters, took 30 minutes to come out. I had garlic prawns, they were on garlic bread which was soggy in oil and grease. Not what I expected and it was horrible. My partner had chicken kebabs. It was literally a slither of chicken on a stick. It was so dry one half fell off when he touched it with a fork. Next we both ordered the steak, £30 each. Sirloin steak, all the trimmings, and a sauce. My steak was AWFUL covered in lumps of fat and tasted of leather. My partners wasn’t much better. I ordered the peppercorn sauce, it was yellow, like custard and made me feel physically sick. ‘All the trimmings’ was chopped mushrooms, onion rings (basically no onion just greasy batter) and a bowl of peas (between 2) and a bowl of chips (between 2) I couldn’t even eat mine so they did offer something else, which I declined so they took it off the bill, which I appreciated until we could hear them slagging us off in the kitchen pointing out that the other steak was fine…. Toilets dead flies on walls, and I thought the toilet was grey but it was dust. Restaurant cold, holes in wall, heater next to us splattered in grease and food. Staff ok but need a waitress to take orders and treat it like a restaurant when paying £30 for meals! It’s not cheap, seems like they don’t actually have a clear vision for the place. Menus look amazing!!! Just need someone that can cook it."
