"We have had lunch here 4 times in the last year and, up to now, have been very happy, hence we return. Unfortunately, today was the exception: only Julie's cheerful and efficient service (as always) kept this from a mediocre 3/5. Our starters and Fish Chips main were fine but certainly not outstanding, and the menu really lacks anything innovative or original. As the Beefeater name suggests a specialism in steaks, our other main was a 10oz rib eye, ordered medium rare: what turned up was a thin-cut steak, cooked medium (it would have been difficult to cook this piece of meat as requested. Certainly not worth the £20 price tag, and to pay an additional £1.99 for a virtually tasteless peppercorn sauce added insult to injury. The speed of service was rather too quick for our liking: drinks, two courses, coffee, bill, and we we were out the door in less than 75 minutes. Main courses were served within literally a couple of minutes of the starter plates being cleared. We appreciate the 33% food discount, but without that, this meal would have cost over £73: at that price, we would expect better. We won't be back soon, unfortunately."

"We had to send one dish back! Delicious food but had to deduct stars for the cutlery not being polished there were dishwasher marks left on all of them, and the special of the noodles was very sour. I must say to their credit they replaced the dish quickly and without fuss so I 've increased my rating to four stars. Our friend is used to Asian food and eats it on a regular basis and he said the noodles were definitely off. Other customers were questioning the flavour but the chef was saying that it was correct. We feel the flavour profile was not balanced. Maybe too much lime juice was added to the miso? The steaks and mixed grills however were perfect. The ribeye cut like a knife through butter. The meat was so tender. Even the grilled herb tomatoes were so ripe and delicious. The chips were near perfect crunchy crispy and fluffy on the inside. They soaked up the vinegar perfectly which cut through the oil of the chips. Altogether a marriage of barbecue flavours that go together perfectly. We had the local IPA and a cider which paired perfectly with the meals. The restaurant was busy with local regulars and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Every request we made was met with a courteous no problem reply. Service was impeccable. The desserts for those in our party who could manage them were also delicious. There was a Mars bar Cheesecake and a kinder bueno tart which was dense chocolate. Highly recommended if you still have room after your main course! (I didn 't!"

"This restaurant is in very poor condition. The first thing you see is a crumbling deck and two dead hanging baskets. The whole place looks run-down and past its prime. There's a sign at the checkout saying "we are short staffed please be patient", setting a negative tone before you even order. If they are short on staff, it would be better for them to acknowledge you and let you know they will help as soon as possible. We made a reservation for 8pm but arrived at 7:30pm for drinks. We received an email while seated, saying we needed to arrive earlier because the kitchen closes at 8:30pm. Since it was a Friday night and the atmosphere was lacking, we decided to leave as we thought the rushed food would not be good quality and likely pricey. The staff were fine, but that's the only positive thing to say about the place. It may have been better if they had just closed for the evening instead of sending negative messages to first-time customers. The restaurant needs to be closed for a thorough renovation."

"We went tonight for a birthday meal and we won’t be returning. The staff are fine but not the most pleasant or enthusiastic. We ordered potato skins and the flowering onion for starter the onion was bland and the potato skins were inedible, they were tough, hard and we couldn’t even chew them. The homemade bbq sauce is the strangest thing, the onions in it are undercooked and it tastes nothing like bbq. But that’s by the by. The gentleman did come and apologise about the potato skins and said it was a problem with the potato season. But I’ve literally just seen a review from January that had the same problem as us, so who knows. My parents then had the pan fried cod and chips, one had the regular one had the large and there was a £4 difference in the two. There was literally no difference at all in the portion of fish or accompaniments. They did say that the cod was lovely however. My husband has the parmo and it was fine, but the chips were nothing flash. Not proper chunky pub chips anyway. I ordered steak pie and the filling was awful. It was grey and watery in colour and it was so tasteless. Everyone else tried it to make sure I wasn’t over reacting but it was shocking. I didn’t eat it and again they removed it (and the skins) from the bill, but by then all I had eaten was a bread bun and some mediocre chips. We weren’t asked if we wanted anymore drinks, my Dad asked for a pint and they said yeah and walked off but didn’t give the rest of us chance to ask for a drink. They then got the drinks order wrong. We asked for lemon and lime and they brought pints rather than asking what we wanted mind you at £4 for a lemon and lime there’s no wonder! As a family of 4 we had one flowering onion, two cod, one parmo, 2 pints, 4 soft drinks and a J20 and it was £80, because they knocked off the skins and pie which was an additional £20. We were really disappointed and would definitely not recommend."

"the property and the main building are beautiful. we were in a beautiful room with views of the marina. the concierge were all kind and extremely helpful, as most of the recipe staff cried to koin, which went beyond and beyond to make our stay especially as we celebrated a meilenstein birthday. Interestingly, one of the female receptors working on Monday night was not as helpful as colin when we asked them if the clubhouse could meet our nutritional requirements and even if we asked for a late check-out. the activities were good fun, although it is a scandal that the spa on various reasons removed a minute car. it means that they have to go back and forth or wait for a lift along the road, sometimes during the time of the traffic-rich traffic that can extend the trip overall, I would recommend to stay in the fireplace and would fortunately return to the future."

"My friend and I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The service was exceptional, and our waiter provided us with plenty of great recommendations for our trip. The food was amazing, with a lot of attention to detail and a variety of flavors. We got five small dishes and two beers for under £40, which is incredible given the quality. My only comment is that the small plates were a bit smaller than I anticipated, but it was hard to mind that when the food was so delicious."

"Located in the basement, easier access via Colin Campbell Car Park. Booking is not essential but highly advisable. We were a party of 16 for a surprise birthday party, so pre-booked and ordered starters and main courses in advance. This made the work of all staff much easier, which they appreciated. Food was excellent, including vegan and special dietary needs and a couple of young children. Drinks are ordered at the bar with a minimum card spend of £10. Staff were very helpful and competent as well as patient with the children and disabled members of the group. Not suited to wheelchair users as the flight of stairs is short but steep. Overall, it was good value for money and a good night out. One downside was as the evening wore on, the music got louder and conversation was impossible. That was the general consensus of the group. Having said that, everyone enjoyed the night and would recommend it to others."

"The tagliatelle with halibut was flavorful, although the fish was slightly overcooked and the skin was burnt; nonetheless, it was still quite good. The carpaccio was a bit of a letdown. The meat was cut too thick, and the aioli was overly rich and left a bad aftertaste. Additionally, the quality of the beef used was not great, so I'm glad we didn’t try the steak. Overall, the food was delicious, the menu offered great variety, and the wine selection was enjoyable but on the pricier side. I would rate the decor 9/10, the food 8/10, and the service 10/10."

"Visited Sahara Grill with family earlier on this evening. Was pleasantly surprised that we were seated quickly and were advised on how to access the menu. We arrived during prayer time so the kitchen was closed which we found very respectful. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and calm. However within 10 minutes the kitchen had re-opened again and we were asked for our order. Our waiter was well knowledged on the menu and advised us what was best. Our starters arrived very quickly and was delicious. The sahara passion Mocktail was a dream, very refreshing and full of flavour. The mains arrived very quickly too and really stole the show, both our steak and lamb meals were cooked to perfection, perfect portion size, full of flavour and meats were juicy, it was evident that alot of prep went into the marination and cooking. Cant fault this restaurant at all. Service was impeccable, staff were very friendly and came over for a chat, management were always seen and ensured everything ran smoothly. Huge thanks to Muhammad who took good care of us and gave our son a complimentary brownie with ice cream for his birthday. We would deffo come back here and try all the other items on the menu as we know the food is prepped and cooked well.Very fresh, very tasty, clean and friendly atmosphere. Respectful of peoples’ beliefs and great ambience.Management have done an amazing job of keeping and setting standards. Keep up the good work team"

"we were woven with the food and service at the potted pig! the most important thing from the pork pliers, which was both scrumbling and loud. what we thought could explode from the vertigo sizzling was intact by the pop rocks up on the spinat. it was just a bit fun, but also zing. the Walisian rarbit and potted pig first were delicious while we enjoyed the smoked chickenerritotto. the service was attentive, without disturbing our young, blonde, female server (forgot their name so sorry.) please see the attached pictures of our net. the presentation was impressive."

"Delicious steak of many different kinds can be had here as well as some tasty sides and desserts. Could be improved by having a wider range of low/no alcohol beer and giving a bit more sauce with the steak. It costs £3 extra to have a sauce so I think you should get a bit more than a tiny dish that many pubs would give you free ketchup/mayo in. Overall it's nice ambience and good cuisine but a bit variable on the value you get depending on what you order. Walkability: Easy to walk to from nearby bus routes and the train station. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"it was very cool, but that was perhaps not very busy. the staff was very friendly. we were booked for 8.30 and were soon the only people left. Unfortunately, there were no more ribs than we had ordered, so that this was a little disappointing. our meals were very well presented and cooked for perfection. it is very strange to be the last table to leave the restaurant, but I suppose someone has to do it! good work we didn't want dessert!"

"Walked in and the girl behind the bar (wearing a coat still) didn’t even aknowledge us…. Took our drink order at the bar when she got to us and pointed our table out. I ordered a soft drink, they’re all just cans. My partner ordered a pint, it smelt of wet dog. The menus are big chalk boards by the door, so you have to stand and squash between a door and the bar to read the menu. The menus are big and look absolutely great. Unfortunately it was better on paper than on the plate. Ordered starters, took 30 minutes to come out. I had garlic prawns, they were on garlic bread which was soggy in oil and grease. Not what I expected and it was horrible. My partner had chicken kebabs. It was literally a slither of chicken on a stick. It was so dry one half fell off when he touched it with a fork. Next we both ordered the steak, £30 each. Sirloin steak, all the trimmings, and a sauce. My steak was AWFUL covered in lumps of fat and tasted of leather. My partners wasn’t much better. I ordered the peppercorn sauce, it was yellow, like custard and made me feel physically sick. ‘All the trimmings’ was chopped mushrooms, onion rings (basically no onion just greasy batter) and a bowl of peas (between 2) and a bowl of chips (between 2) I couldn’t even eat mine so they did offer something else, which I declined so they took it off the bill, which I appreciated until we could hear them slagging us off in the kitchen pointing out that the other steak was fine…. Toilets dead flies on walls, and I thought the toilet was grey but it was dust. Restaurant cold, holes in wall, heater next to us splattered in grease and food. Staff ok but need a waitress to take orders and treat it like a restaurant when paying £30 for meals! It’s not cheap, seems like they don’t actually have a clear vision for the place. Menus look amazing!!! Just need someone that can cook it."
