"Lets start with the car park, which is across the road which my elderly parents were nervous crossing, leaving was even worse as it's on a bend and not safe to pull out of. We sat for ages at our table, waiting for someone to bring the menu, finally I went to the bar to ask and was shown the menu an oversized blackboard by the door that I had to hijack and take to the table so everyone could read as it was in the doorway. I asked about vegetarian options and was told that, if I didn't eat fish, I could have goats cheese risotto or a starter made up as a main course (sorry, but there's only so much garlic bread I can eat! . Luckily I eat fish, I say luckily because about 50% of the menu was fish! I went for the cod and chips, but the fish still had it's skin on and the batter was soggy, so it wasn't particularly appetising and I left half, the chips had no taste at all. The gammon for my parents came with no veg or salad. My sister's chicken kiev was dry. Over priced mediocre food. It's not exactly cheap and so you expect a little more. You'll be disappointed. At the prices they're charging, get some menus printed, employ staff who don't think that Hake and Cod are the same thing (news to me! , find a new chef and get a mirror put up so people have a chance of getting out of the car park alive, oh, and put some effort into the toilets, even a sign telling you where they are would be a start, but they're tired and dirty looking. I won't be returning and have cancelled a booking I'd made for my works party."

The Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic. We had 6 meals with 3 different meats and a variety of vegetables. The value was fabulous. Make sure to book in advance!

this is simply the best place for a Sunday dinner. the meat was perfect and the veg beautiful. I know the layout is not the best and there is no bitter design, but the food and the staff are the top drawer. they can enjoy a Sunday dinner they will never forget.

Our favourite place to eat outside Chester. We have been coming to treat ourselves for over 5 years and never disappointed. This time we brought our Spanish friends for Friday dinner. We all loved our food. Steaks were cooked as requested and chef kindly shared Fish pie. Serving girls were very helpful and attentive. We see you soon.

We tried to grab a drink at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon and were promptly turned away. Despite there being plenty of unoccupied tables, we were informed that all tables were booked and the overflow area was full. It seemed unlikely that all the reservations were arriving at the exact same time, and it would have been nice if at least one table could have accommodated us for 30 minutes. The staff didn't seem willing to check availability and were somewhat rude in turning us away. This is not the way to treat potential customers, and perhaps some staff training is in order to improve customer service and welcome. We were very disappointed, especially for a country pub that relies on walk-in cust...

Absolutely shocking. I felt like Gordon Ramsey critiquing, but by god he’s the only person who can save that place Consider you book in advance, no one bats an eyelid when you walk in. Just giant menus to look at right next to the door. The music goes from 10 back-to-back stereophonics b-sides, to alien ant farm and blink 182? Love those bands but it was bizarre. Then the food… me. More moisture in a twigglet. Got the deserts for free because there was bits of R2 D2 found in both. First ever trip advisor review I’ve ever done. Might seem harsh to some, I know. A restaurant that seems to of been there for ever… if it was spoons then I’d of let it slide. But to charge £18-£28 for their meals?...

"Went for a drive Father's day and ended up having a meal here, we rang and luckily got a table for 7pm. On entry to the Celtic Arms it was a high walled gated area with absolutely beautiful gardens which went on for some considerable area, it is a golf club as well and a beautiful golf course with golf buggies opposite the restaurant. Opposite the golf buggies their is a play area that as I recall was fenced off but attached to the restaurant as its also a bar. On arrival to the resteraunt the manager was extremely warm and welcoming and escorted us to a table just outside of the restaurant. During the time we where in the Celtic Arms I observed the waitress in the restaurant constantly clean and spraying the tables which was absolutely so reassuring since the last covid people have relaxed a bit to much. A young lady who was equally as welcoming came and as us for our order, it was a set three course meal at £23.99 which we felt was really reasonable for such a lovely place. Halfway through our time in the Celtic Arms the young lady went home from her shift that had intially taken our order and I pressume we then passed to another waitress. I felt we where out of the eye of the bar but not in the restaurant so got a little forgotten about, although once we called a member of staff to remove our plates these where remove immediately. The starters where delicious with plenty of prawns on the prawn cocktail and the pate had an amazing homemade chutney. The mains where lamb and beef with the whole meal being cooked to perfection and hot with vegetables cooked just right. A lovely touch we felt was the lady out of the restaurant came and asked us if everything was to our liking and was there anything of the meal we would like a little extra off, I dare say you won't get a ton of potatoes or veg but the gesture was very touching and to be honest the meal size was ample. The desert white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake we shared and both agreed it was delicious, and we then shared a cheeseboard which I had got on the three course set menu. The delicious chutney again appeared with varies cheeses, crackers and grapes. Our compliments where left with the manager and the staff with our thanks for serving and delivering multiple resteraunts can not quite achieve. Well done Celtic arms for your polite, professional manner and serving a delicious good quality meal which was ample portioned, reasonably priced in an excellent environment. Would definitely recommend this place it's beautiful and wins hands down on the last 20 plus places we have been over the last few months. We will most definitely be going back again."
