"My local pub in Brighton and I’m very glad for that fact! Old English pubs like this absolutely need to be saved and preserved for future generations. I stopped in here with my partner for Sunday roast and we not disappointed! The staff were all lovely and friendly, the menu was well put together, and the food arrived quickly and tasted delicious. The roast lamb fell off the bone and the potatoes were crispy and fluffy at the same time. The whole plate was great! Love the way the place is styled. It feels cosy and warm. Ornaments and bric-à-brac up on the walls. Plants placed around for homeliness and dark wood everywhere. One thing I’d love to see (as we were both doing dry July) is more non-alcoholic options."

"It’s been a while since we visited the cider press so we went today . Having heard mixed reviews since it changed hands I was determined to make up my own mind. Well here goes .... the customer service was really lacking !! We were ignored by two of the staff for the first 20 minutes who came and went managing to completely avoid our eye !!!! Eventually another waiter arrived to take our order and normality resumed we were then delivered our drinks and food in reasonable time . We both ordered the Coddy’s lamb burgers which were very nice .Please listen to this and improve your customer service because I actually like this place I notice you now hand out loyalty cards the previous owners didn’t need to the place was always busy !"

"Awful will never use this pub again. I’m a type 2 diabetic and a vegetarian. I have to be careful what I eat. I asked to alter something on the menu which was really easy and they weren’t busy I was told point blank I couldn’t alter anything on the menu! All I wanted was a cheese baguette lol! Instead I had to order veggie chilli. I have spent the last two hours on the toilet. The portion was also tiny for £8.95! One member of staff was rude. Please note their response to my review isn’t correct. They did have cheddar cheese because it was being served on other items on the menu. I also never said the portion I received was good. Furthermore I’m spending a second day ill after my visit."

"We were very disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The manager was having dinner with his friends and seemed to be the main focus of attention for the staff. Our pre-dinner cocktails arrived after our starters, and we were informed just before our mains arrived that there was no cornbread. We had to find our own sauces, napkins, and cutlery. When we asked for the service charge to be removed from our bill, the manager authorized it at the till, but did not bother to come and ask us why we were dissatisfied."

"We entered excited and happy to have a nice evening. We were greeted by a man called Donie (bald guy) and we asked for a table. He looked annoyed that we even entered and just said “bar or window” (saying we can’t have a table even though there were 4 tables at the back free. Sali was upstairs on the bar alone and served us. She was so lovely and welcoming and she helped us any way she could. I felt sorry for her because she was alone while the other man went out for more than 2 smoke breaks and just sat at the front desk watching the football. When I went down to the bathroom there were more than 2 members of staff sitting at a table doing nothing too while Sali was upstairs with so many tables alone doing everything. The food was nice and we gave Sali a lovely tip as we really appreciated her service she was the only one who kept our spirits up and made sure we enjoyed the rest of our night the other man was so rude dismissive and not helpful at all. We hope Sali is looked after and appreciated! Thank you for making our evening enjoyable!"

"We are a family group of 4 adults, and have visited many times whilst on holiday, and on every occasion we were very pleased with both the food and the service we were given, pleasant and accommodating staff at all times. Covid times hit hard and closed down the Courtyard. In 2021, we visited twice in that year, it was closed or had door vandalized. Now coming to our recent visit this year in September, hooray it was open. We sat down, looked at the menu, inflation had hit the prices, but not a problem, as we were used to their food and service we ordered and looked forward to our meals How disappointing was the small portion of food we received, poor feeble excuses for why our food took so long, people arriving after us got served first. Our order did not come out as what was written on the menu, which resulted in another feeble excuse from a member of staff. The place was looking a bit of a dump to how remembered it before. This was an establishment worthy of its past great reputation. It has been regretful that I have made this review, it is a sad shame. I know that a lot may disagree with my review, but maybe they got a better service."

"This is the first time I’ve visited beachside barbecue but I will definitely come back. We reserved a table as it was bank holiday and very busy. We were seated at a window booth with glorious views across the beach. Our waitress took drinks orders and left us to view the menu, there is also a fish specials board. The menu has lots of choice burgers, ribs, fish etc. We just went for a main meal (there’s no way we would’ve managed another course, portions are generous! . I had the fish burger which was served in a delicious brioche bun with a king prawn, calamari and homemade chips. It was absolutely delicious and very filling! Our waitress was lovely , very friendly and efficient. We will be back soon"

"Fantastic eaterie. Stopped here on route south to north Wales. The food was cooked fresh and well presented. We had the normal and veggie breakfasts and they were terrific. We also had our cocker spaniel with us and he was made to feel at home. Staff were friendly. Establishment clean and welcoming. Lots of lovely home made cakes and plenty of seating on the main floor and upstairs. Could not fault it. Don't look anywhere else and waste your time go here for a snack, brunch, coffee, cup of tea or a cake. Can't recommend it highly enough."

"Came to this bar last year and still the same smell lingering in the pub and bar. Only way to put it politely is drainage and number.2 smell. we ordered last time because we were outside but didn’t order this time because there was no way i could eat with the smell being inside. shame because the food was nice last time and wanted to come back to sit outside but due to weather we couldn’t. Cannot understand how we’ve came a year later and there’s been no change to the smell. granted the smell is worse when the toilet door is opened but it lingers for a long time once opened and it’s not even the entrance to the toilet, it leads to a corridor!.I overheard overs saying the same thing so i kno it’s not just a one time occurrence."

"this is a curry house that we regularly use because we think they have the best peshwari naan near us! tonight I went with something I had not tried before, a sweetheart, and I really like it! I usually go for a corma, but was very pleased to find something that is mild without being creamy: my man had a tandoori king prawn masala, and we have a few starters to share with our 7-year-old. all were delicious, and the delivery was faster than we expected. can not add photos like just eaten without thinking add an review!"

"My husband and I were looking for a quick breakfast spot in the neighborhood and found this gem. Tiny spot with limited seating, but we were able to snag a seat. We both had the avocado toast with fried eggs which was delicious. They were also super accommodating for gluten free all of their toasties and sandwiches can be made on GF bread. I even watched the cook use parchment to protect my GF bread from cross contamination when toasting! Husband also had a side of bacon, which he raved about. Highly recommend for meat loving and gluten free visitors!"

"I came here a while ago, and I thought Katie was good. That's when I met Jorge, more like Jore-yay! It was incredible, made Aphrodite feel poor. It was like a Greek Hercules, striding muscularly down the steps to serve us. Never did I think Katie would be outmatched, how wrong was I?!! Very. Jorge served us like Federer at Wimbledon. Unbelievable. It was game, set and match, championship point. Katie Creed, learn some lessons!!!! Boo Kooks, merci boo kooks, an orgasm of the mouth, I can't thank you enough. Phenomenal. "My wife and I had a few days in Settle to trek some of the surrounding walks and sites. We ate in this cafe on the first day, whilst also perusing the shop downstairs; loved it and went back everyday after.I liked the pulled pork sandwich which fell apart in my mouth as well as the fresh made scones with home made jam.My wife's favourite dish was avocado on sourdough toast with herb tomatoes.....and of course she added a side of crispy bacon.All in all everything on the menu looked great and the owner said that they make changes to the menu seasonally to give the customer seasonal variety."

"ja ja jar was one of the providers on the recent vegan festival of flowering power in the wylam brewery that I visited so I was fascinated to see which vegan options they offered. only the two options sad that were the radgie bhaji and dirty pommes. I have the radgie bhaji, but was disappointed. not only was it not cooked all the way through, but for £4 I would have expected a little more. it was so tiny and in comparison to other providers not worth money. pity as I love bhajis and rarely get them so much."

"We were passing through the village on a meandering route to Gatehouse of Fleet and timed it nicely for some lunch. We parked a short walk away just off Whylie’s Brae at an official car park as the streets are narrow and spaces were at a premium elsewhere. The café is in a traditional cottage style building but has been modernised internally. There was outside seating available at the entrance, which would have been an attraction had it not been raining at the time of our visit. There were a number of visitors present, staff were friendly and there was therefore a pleasant ambiance. Despite the offer of specials, which included a homemade pasta dish of the day, we were looking for more of a snack. There were decent options in this regard and my wife ordered a Tuna Mayo Cheese Jacket Potato which was served with three different salad garnishes carrot sultanas; baby broad bean sundried tomato; and a house coleslaw £7.75). I ordered a soup sandwich combo Broccoli Stilton soup and Chicken with lemon mayo sandwiches £9.00). Service was very good and the fresh, tasty and quality produce made for an enjoyable lunch . We finished things off with an Americano and Flatwhite coffee £2.70 each) which brought our bill to just over £22 which we thought was good value. Tempting as the cakes looked, we resisted indulging to save our appetite for later. Toilets were well maintained. There are small gift options on display for purchase. Check opening times currently only on Friday Saturdays during winter months."

"I genuinely had an amazing experience here! The service was phenomenal, even when my group wanted to change seating areas and they were still so busy! But they got us sorted right away and were so genuine with their interactions with us and others around. The atmosphere was also beautiful. I’m not from here but it’s amazing to see how old things are and well maintained. The people in this place were very lovely. Some even sharing a word or two. Everybody seemed so lovely and kept the atmosphere of the restaurant very homey. And my god the food.. I know I went when I was hungry but I still reckon this was some real good food! I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, some cheesy garlic bread and the sticky toffee pudding. And the portions are good sizes, the food tastes great. I honestly highly recommend this place. It was third time lucky for me and my friends. The vibes of the place just made it such a beautiful place to come to for a meal. The dining setting (separate from the bar area) would be perfect for an evening date."
