"Had a table booked for 4 and at very short notice (15 minutes) I increased it to 10. They were happy to have the increase and catered very well. The food was good. The service was good. The bill was split between families in such away that each family paid for what they had had. The whole experience was brilliant. Thank you to the staff that served us. "this is our third time in london, the last time was 2019 for a week before the corona virus. we were at that time in this restaurant, the service and the food were so good that we went back there 4 times in the same visit. this time we arrived and booked in advance, we arrived and the whole menu is different. I understand that there has been price increases since the corona virus, but I would expect that if the prices rose twice, that at least the service would be appropriate. our waiter was very inkind and impatient. we felt like he didn't want to serve us and ask each one we frightened him. we waited for our appetizers for a long time and the main courses came before me. we had to ask about the court three times until we got it. we thought we were coming at least twice more to eat here on our trip and we will not return. even in juni, when we come back, we will not eat here because it is simply disappointing."

"I had made a reservation for a birthday dinner for six people on a Thursday evening, only to arrive and find the restaurant closed due to some issue with the kitchens. There was no one available to speak to, just a note on the door. I was disappointed that they didn't contact me by email to inform me of the closure, as it would have saved us the trip. We ended up going to Davanti in Tynemouth instead. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the original restaurant in the future."

"We had a lovely meal here. Two adults two kids. Kids menu was decent. Me and my partner had the bang bang chicken to start which was lovely! Both had the fillet cooked medium, sides all really tasty and home made chips and onion rings! The only thing I didn’t like was the guacamole (I know guacamole with steak but I love avocado! it honestly was the most horrible thing so pale in colour and smooth as anything it was clearly out of a bottle and not homemade. But that’s personal choice I guess! I would definitely eat here again the flavour on the steak was unreal!"

"First time here, I don't know what I was expecting but whatever it was I was definitely impressed! Smart place, we had a Groupon for Saturday's which was incredibly good value. "We went as a family to celebrate our Sons 30th birthday. I had rung the restaurant prior to coming to check we could bring a cake and that was no problem. The waiters dealt with it beautifully and didn't even ask if we would like dessert which was impressive and they even provided plates etc for us to use. The staff were incredibly welcoming and very patient as we took a while to work out what we wanted to order. The drinks came quickly shortly followed by the deliciously fresh and tasty starters. The main courses were of a very high quality. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and we will be returning."

"we cried into the copper band on the off-change of gettin a table for 2, we were greeted by the beautiful ramanda, she greeted us with a beautiful smile and a really inviting attitude, we were shown our sitting, a menu and asked what we want to drink, a very pleasant young barkeeper mixologe served us our drinks, I was served my gin, how it should be served and just how it should be trimming. we choose our food and we were thrilled by the presentation and the aromen in each and every dish....we will certainly be back again, and all thanks to the wonderful co-workers especially ramanda, which is a real advantage for this restaurant, in front of house personnel as they are rarely found in local restaurants, we did not get the rest of the co-workers name, maybe it would be an idea to have staff with a name very pleasant evening. go raibh maith agus beannacht."

"We booked The Hope for a family get together, it's really close to Central Station therefore it was convenient for everyone to meet there for lunch! When I was looking in to booking something for us I checked the website and it said the pub was family friendly, perfect as we were bringing our wee boy! Disappointed however when we were ordering food to discover that there was no children's menu! The staff serving our table were very nice and although a bit slow in getting the food orders they were on hand to take our drinks orders right away! The food was nice, nothing to write home about but a good meal none the less! One waitress in particular was very helpful with our wee boy, regularly checking to see if she could get him a drink and asking if we wanted his food kept warm while he had a nap! The Hope is a family favourite of ours for its location, it's welcoming staff and a beautiful building too! We will definitely be back, if a children's menu was introduced it would be perfect!"

"Late review. Unfortunately the reviews regarding the rude manager are correct. Came In with a friend for a quick drink and was shouted at by this lady as we came in from the wrong way and then to be told they’re not accepting customers as they were closing that’s absolutely fine however there were tables filled with people in and outside. This was my first time at this place. I decided to leave straight away it was such a rude encounter that as I was walking outside with my friend, another colleague came running out to apologise for the managers behaviour. I hate to bring race into this but this was the only thing that differed from myself/my mate and everyone else in this pub. Having said that, after reading others reviews, it seems like the manager just doesn’t have the basic skills and etiquette to provide a reasonably decent customer service. How on earth you’ve managed to get a job in management is beyond me. Advice to manager doctors are here to help. Support is available, just try not to shout when requesting your chill pills."

"Unfortunately, our experience at the restaurant was not great from beginning to end. Booking online was easy, but there was no description of the snug area. Our waitress seemed new and inexperienced, as she did not know about the available beers and only offered a wine list. She was friendly and kind but was not properly briefed on what was not available. It was disappointing that a gastro pub on a high street ran out of regular milk, making it impossible for us to enjoy coffee with regular milk. Various items on the menu were also unavailable. The food itself was disappointing - bland, stodgy, and tasteless. The tortellini was poorly cooked and the pan-fried sea bass was overcooked. Despite being offered the dessert menu twice, it never arrived until we had to ask for it. The duty manager did acknowledge the issues and deducted the cost of two drinks."

"We used to frequent this pub often in the past, but heard that it had changed ownership, so we decided to meet our friends here. We were excited to catch up with friends we hadn't seen in a while. However, when we arrived, my husband inquired about their ale selection and was informed they only had Harveys with no other options. The server who brought our drinks had dirty fingernails, which was off-putting. When it came time to order food, one of our friends asked about a Christmas menu and was told it needed to be pre-ordered, as stated on their website. Despite our frequent visits in the past, we had not checked the website. The food was tasty, but the service was lacking. We had to request drinks and were not asked about our meals once they arrived. At 9:40, a lady approached us with the bill and informed us they were closing soon. When we asked for another drink, we were denied. My husband requested to remove the service charge, which caused some tension with the lady taking payment. She questioned why he wouldn't pay it, stating that everyone charges it, which we found rude. Overall, the poor service has discouraged us from returning or recommending the pub to others, despite the delicious food. It's disappointing, as we had hoped the new management would focus on attracting and retaining customers."
