"There is a strong online presence of a lunch menu for Kisaku. After confirming what my wife would like me to pick up, I was told upon arrival that there was no lunch menu. There was a similar dish for $12.50 instead of $7.50 on the regular menu. I felt completely disappointed to have traveled there to be offered a 65% price increase. The owner did not apologize. I went elsewhere and will never return. The place was completely empty at 1 pm, and I am not surprised. By the way, Kiasu is a Hokkien word that denotes a selfish and greedy attitude that arises from fear of missing out. I think the restaurant should change its name."

"Although the food was really nice, I was really disappointed in realising that I had tipped TWICE, and felt like I was tricked into it. After being presented with the bill I had no time to check it as the waiter was stood there with the card machine and asked if I had wanted to leave a tip. I did, and proceeded to leave a tip via the card machine. After the waiter left I then saw that the bill ALREADY had a 10% service charge added to it. So if the bill already has an optional service charge on it, why am I being asked again if I want to leave a tip??! Not only that, but when checking the bill I had also seen that we were charged for three salmon makis when we had only ordered two (this did get corrected as I told them and we were refunded the third portion, but I didn’t feel like I could ask for a refund on my double tip). So although the food was nice, this end paying experience really ruined it and I’d urge everyone to check their bill before they pay."

"Saw the new Bento location open recently on Lothian Road, next to the Greggs. I’d never tried the Southbridge location before but the new one is close to my workplace. Same layout as the older location with food displayed on the left hand side, counter at the back and a few tables on the right side. The main door is really heavy to open. The food seems like it may have sat out under heat lamps for a while. I was wary of the quality of the raw fish so avoided the sushi and sashimi. I opted for an unagi rice bowl which seemed like a decent sized portion. The bowl is deceptive and not as deep as it looks. The rice was barely warm and the unagi (eel) drenched in sauce. There was a weird side of vegetables which looked very much like frozen mixed veg (corn, peas and carrots). Why these vegetables were included in a supposedly Japanese dish I don’t know... The sauce was very sweet and off putting, and because it was on everything I couldn’t finish the dish. Currently doing 20% off at the new location until 6th December as part of their opening offer. My unagi rice would have been around £10 without discount, but I paid £7.96 with the 20% off. I feel like what I received was not worth the money and the quality was not good at all. Thankful I didn’t buy anything full price here give it a miss!"

"Michiko Sushino in Northwest London offers top-notch sushi that has been on my list of places to eat for a long time, and I finally got to visit last week. The menu is concise, making it easy to choose. We started with prawn gyozas, which were a delightful melt-in-your-mouth experience. The food was exceptional; the large salmon set included a wonderful mix of uramaki, nigiri, and sashimi. My favorite dish was the hanabi prawn tempura sushi, and I also thoroughly enjoyed the scallop sushi. Another intriguing option was the egg omelette sushi, which was quite good. The donburi was also excellent, though I found it a bit crispy in parts. To kick off our meal, I had an Aki gin tonic made with Roku gin and lemongrass infusion, which I adored, and we wrapped up with some sake. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, and I highly recommend Michiko Sushino to everyone. If you haven't been yet, or even if you're returning, it's definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the staff is attentive and friendly. I had a fantastic time!"

Do not forget to ask for tofu when they love tofu, as the vegan rarmen on the menu is only with sweet. on our special board we have at the moment vegan pumpkin avocado rolls. that is for the. have this for my dinner almost every day, love. also our vegetarian sushi roll is vegan! if you want to try the vegetarian set, we can replace the tamago for inari also we make our tamago before place for our covegias."

"The restaurant was closed and no one contacted us. We had planned to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday there, so we were really disappointed. Thankfully, we found Sushinoen, a restaurant just a 13-minute walk away, which saved our night. The Japanese food was amazing and authentic, highly recommended. We will not be trying Kirin restaurant again and do not recommend it to anyone."

"Consistently shocking service. I feel like the person who works there has a future as a doctor's surgery receptionist, they do as much as possible to prevent you ordering. They try and get you to use a machine to order, which often doesn't work, and if you mention it you get scowled at. They seem unaware of how to fix it. They are extremely rude when you arrive and if you're lucky enough to get their attention they treat you as an inconvenience, manners don't exist. They are obviously focused on Deliveroo rather than walk ins for lunch. Sadly it's nice enough sushi (albeit a very confusing menu that makes no sense on the ordering machine) but the service is rude and confusing. This has happened on too many occasions now and I won't be returning."

"I used to go to Benihana regularly, Toptable did deals where you could have the traditional dinner for £20 so I have tried every variety of it. "This was highly recommended by friends who cited witnessing many Japanese businessmen dining here at lunch times as another justification for needing to try it out After failing to get a table last Saturday this place is extremely popular and busy we tried again for this Saturday, but failed again so settled for the Friday night instead We made do with a table for two and adding an extra chair for the little one on the side Considering how busy it was and how relatively small the kitchen area was they did well Decor resembles a cafe style with the sushi bar seating in addition to variety sized tables that hug the corner windows Staff were friendly and efficient The menu isn’t extensive, and that’s typically a good sign as good restaurants do well with what they are good at I’m always happy when I see a Japanese restaurant that serves Takoyaki and Unagi….but always sad when they don’t do chawanmushi Two out three is not a bad thing and their Takoyaki’s were spot on I enjoyed their maki’s too, especially their Sushi Jun specials we had the snow one I felt the donburi’s that we had were just so so, hence not quite getting the full five star rating I also felt the sashimi needs to be served on a bed of crushed ice if it isn’t stored at cold enough temp before serving However, Farnham residents are fortunate that they have this place on their doorstep and should continue supporting it"
