"I visited this restaurant regularly until Christmas 2021. this was my first visit this year and the property has changed again! in the front part of the restaurant were three lights turned on, the light was bad, the heating was...ab and there was no music at all. the waiter' had difficultities in the first part of my order for 2 plain and 2 spicy poppadome and a bottle cobra, after several repeated accusations he finally got it right, except to try to give me 2 bottles cobra at the same time. I decided to skip the starter and chicken jalfrezi mushroom rice and okra ordered. the food came, but the waiter treated the plate with bare hands and not covered with a served cloth, while he got the food I used my bag sanitiser to wipe the plate where he put his thumb. the chicken was tasteless and was possibly boiled, in which the whole meal was tasteless. I paid the bill and went around 9.45 clock within about 1 minute of my leave the restaurant closed and the roller shutters were closed. this was a Saturday night and it seemed that I had been their only eating in the customer. I don't think they'll survive much longer. a great scandal that a beautiful restaurant with a hygiene rating of 5 seems to be on the way last year."

"Great food. We went there as we bought a OPEN TABLE £50 gift voucher but they didn't know about this scheme. However manager agreed to accept kindly although it didnt work at the end. We ended up there as we finished a walk nearby and wanted to try something diffrent. If you can over look the ambiance it is a nice restaurent for food and if you want to try something difftent. Lentil and vada starters were yummm although a bit hot so ask for less spicy if you are not used to it V Resonable prices and resonable portion sizes....great Masala tea and fish dishes. Service can be improved although 2 young boys who were serving us were very polite. Will go again if around ever again in that area."

"On Wednesday, 30/11/22, three local middle-aged pescatarian men celebrated a birthday by going out for lunch at Madras, a Sri-Lankan/South Indian restaurant in Lewisham. They had been to the restaurant before when it was known as The Green Cabin. The restaurant had a few faded decorations and furniture, but the food was always tasty and reasonably priced. They arrived around 13:40 and found the restaurant nearly empty, so they chose a table by the window in the hopes of attracting more customers. The menu offered a mix of traditional Indian and South Indian dishes, and they decided to skip alcohol and order lassis instead. They were cautious about ordering too much due to the spiciness of the food. Throughout their meal, they noticed several delivery couriers coming in and out. A family arrived later on, but the restaurant remained relatively quiet. One of the men accidentally ordered a mixed Thali, which turned out to be a pleasant surprise with a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes. They also ordered a Mutton Masala Dosai and some side dishes to share. The food was spicy but delicious, and they managed to finish everything without needing a doggy bag. The bill came to a reasonable £50.90, and they left a £5 tip before heading out into the streets of Lewisham, happy and satisfied."

"The staff was friendly but we felt they were avoiding eye contact. So it was difficult to get even water served. To be honest..the food was good but not great. So I didn't leave disappointed..but I probably wouldn't come again. We ordered a fried fish for starter which was dry and bland. Vegetarian biriyani was average. Lamb biriyani and fish curry was amazing."

"Small frontage but surprisingly spacious, clean and comfortable restaurant. We're doing meat-free May so wanted somewhere with no meaty smells or options and this was perfect. Tried some new dishes the dhosa was amazing and I'll definitely be going back for that. I got to try pani puri which was fun and surprisingly tasty for what it was. We'll be back next time we're in the vicinity. Service was pleasant but nothing special the food is definitely a reason to return though."

"I eat vegan food because I am allergic to dairy, egg and shelfish (I have an anaphylaxis allergy to shelfish aka my throat closes over why I eat it). I was immediately disappointed with this restaurant as the staff were rude, the atmosphere was unpleasant and the service was very slow (took 1hour and a half to be served). Things got worse when my supposedly vegan food arrived but had shellfish in it I soon spent the evening in A&E fearing for my life. When I went in the next day to politely asked what had been put in my food (in case I reacted to a new allergen) the owner treated me unkindly and told me the allergy was my fault. Never again will I support this business owner and I do not reccomend this place for anyone"

"Even though the restaurant's decor may be outdated, the food is exceptional. The service was also very good. My brother and I really enjoy this place and every dish we've tried has been fantastic. The prices are reasonable. The portions may seem small, but they are actually quite filling. It can get busy, so it's best to make a reservation or arrive early. The service, dining in, and atmosphere all rated a 5. Recommended dishes include Masala Dosa, Chicken Tikka, and Pilau Rice. "after looking at their website it seemed obvious to give this restaurant a visit. if they eat on the look for authentic sri lankan, please stay away from this restaurant. Of course, they will not really get sri lankan eating in Britain, but one would expect that sth similar to it if they 're will spend a considerable amount of money. I was in sri lanka for 2 weeks this year, so I know what to expect to a certain degree. the chicken jersey tastes like an ordinary biryani, the lampris is extremely dry (usually very humid) and the service was not reflecting the price on the menu. Overall, this restaurant has tried very badly to call itself a sri lanka restaurant. I am shocked/bamboozled it's getting so many positive reviews."

"My first visit but not my last... pictured are the deliciously light, non greasy, tasty onion bhajis to follow, I had coriander chicken, lemon rice and porotta... I dove straight in and was so delighted with my choices that I forgot to take a photo... we had a spinach and coconut dish to accompany it that paired well with my chicken, everything felt home cooked fresh to order... I couldn't fault it and would highly recommend... was delighted to see carrot halwa on the dessert menu but was too full to try it this time round... it's a must next time as I have a feeling it won't disappoint!!"

"I needed an eatery with good vegetarian options for my party of four and was not disappointed. The food was totally excellent. I happened to enjoy a chicken dish with a lovely mango lassi. Others in the party had dosas which were very good. Apart from the excellent food I should mention the friendly and helpful staff. Dosa World is only a few steps away from the tourist trail of Brick Lane with endless guys offering discounts and trying to lure you in. None of this at Dosa World. Unfortunately there were not a lot of people eating but then we were quite early. What else can I say? Patronise if you are in the area."
