"we contacted mark in advance, as we were a group of women who drove to brighton and wanted to make sure we had sorted our food before our arrival. brand was so brilliant that he communicated everything so quickly that everything was ready to go for us when we came there (we were 40 minutes early and he was completely prepared! He also bought us the sandwiches so that we did not have to leave our bikes. the sandwiches were amazing and huge. we could all put the half of them in our saddle bags and finish them on the way home. thanks!"

"The Hide is a lively pub where you can go to catch up with friends over a few drinks. The selection of beers available are decent. The atmosphere here is what I've come to expect in pubs across London buzzing with excitement! The food at The Hide is also quite decent, and should you limit yourself only to starters, then I'd suggest you go in for one of the platters they have (depending on the size of your group). The Mezze and the Mediterranean platters are quite decent and worth ordering if you like mild flavours. If you like something meatier, then The Hide or the Charcuterie are what you need to be considering. The steak tartare is quite superb. Also, if you're looking for something...read more"

"This feels like a restaurant that knows it won’t be around for long. Food: superb croquettes to start, other starters disappointing; lovely chocolate mousse to finish. However...Our mains were dreadful. Bland would be kind. Both our dishes were pasta both tasted of nothing. One was drowned in ink, the other had pasta that was both raw and overcooked. Service. Except the assistant chef who at times delivered dishes, the waiting staff were awkward, uncomfortable, lacking any warmth or personality and reminded me of Rami Malek in ‘Mr. Robot’. Ambience: initially looks ‘cool’ but in reality is rather cold. We had to whisper as it wasn’t busy, there wasn’t a buzz and no music to create any sort of din. This was Friday lunchtime."

"A fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant is in a great location overlooking Clapham Common and just moment from the tube. It’s a cosy and welcoming space with an open kitchen and slightly rustic feel. The service is friendly and relaxed but also very attentive without being overbearing. They helped us understand the menu and make our choices, there’s a great drinks list too...we chose from the main menu and the food was just wonderful. Three savoury courses (they are slightly smaller plates) exploding with flavours and textures. We wanted to lick all of our plates clean! There were lots of small touches too, little freebies here and there, some terrific sour-dough bread at the start, a really nice low-alcohol beer available too. We will absolutely be back. This is great for a posh supper, a date night or anniversary or just a get together with friends over food prepared with love and care. And it didn’t break the bank!"

"We went for dinner on Friday evening at 5:30pm and the place was packed and everyone sounded like they were having a great time. We walked in, found a member of staff and they quickly cleared a crowd from around a table to get us seated, delivered a bottle of water and glasses, poured for us and handed out the menu. She returned promptly to get our order for food and drinks. We both got cocktails ordered from a book's worth of choices. Took a bit of reading to decide. The food came soon after the drinks and was appetising and well presented. We had two courses ordered but eventually took a sweet to share between us. Dundee cake, St Andrews cheese and honey, different but it worked. By now it had quietened down a bit thank goodness. Enjoyed it."

"Dear Owner, The customer is the king! Without us your business is dead. In the 21st Century you should have more ingredients, meals customisation and flexibility. We wanted the warm cooked breakfast but there was no flexibility to provide a substitute or change the price if you can only sell half of the listed ingredients. Also, you are missing potato scones, haggis, variety of veg/ salsa such as cucumbers, radish, red peppers … and so on. You don’t have a vegetarian and vegan alternatives! Speed up please with the expectations. Never had an experience where the selection and options are so damn poor. Especially after the lockdown where businesses are appreciating and fighting for every customer. Thank you."

"You choose friends sometimes prompt me when it comes to restaurants. They know that I am obsessed with food and write about it here on Gourmet Chick so they kindly offer to let me choose where we eat when we meet up. It's not a chore at all as I usually have a constantly evolving wish list of places in mind, but I must admit I also love it when I catch up with a friend and for once they choose the place. So I was delighted when my friend Jenny suggested we eat at her regular lunch spot, Kensington Square Kitchen. The cafe is cheery and sunny with big windows looking out to a garden in the middle of the square and a simple but stylish cream interior. This is what you get when you reserve...read more"

"Having had the most incredible meal at sister restaurant Pidgin last summer, we were really keen to try Magpie. The central location was great and the restaurant itself had a lovely dimly lit atmosphere. Sadly the food didnt quite match up to our high expectations and we didnt feel the money we paid for it really reflected the quality or choice. Would give it a second try but not in a rush to go back."

"Underwhelming experience. nice ideas ie open smokey kitchen fire, Scandi kitchen with dried flowers but with no table cloth, incongruous music with non relaxing vibes, poor service lack of attentive staff. food was weird , small portions style over substance and maybe tasting menu is better. expensive meal and overall not as good as expectations. had to constantly attract eye of waiter for drinks/ wine list they seemed to have a lack of staff. Not sharp enough for Michelin experience"

"We had the afternoon tea. The sandwiches were reasonable but nothing particularly special. The scones were very dry and the desserts nothing special. One was served in a small goblet that you couldn’t get your spoon into. The Basil and Strawberry dessert tasted primarily of basil with little evidence of strawberry. Overnight guests had to walk though the room where the tea was being served making the room feel like a corridor. Overall there was nothing to tempt us back."

"I have visited this restaurant for coffee or breakfast a few times, and although the food is good, the presence of dogs is intolerable."
