A classic sourdough bread with a crunchy crust and soft, tangy interior.

"A bit rude when we first arrived but put a couple of tables together for us. First couple of drinks and food came at a reasonable time. Food was standard and what you expect at this kind of place. We didn’t go there for fine dining and didn’t expect it. After that the service was very very slow and poor. Although table service, we had to get up a couple of times to ask for drinks. So slow coming. We asked for desert menu but told the kitchen had closed even though no one had asked if we wanted anything else or warned us. Ok it’s a birthday so didn’t want to make a fuss. So ordered another round of drinks. Waiting for 20 minutes to be told they are just coming. After 30 minutes we had to ask twice to cancel order and for the bill. Difficult times I know and always try to keep that in mind but rude staff and very slow service. Maybe a one off but won’t be going back."

"This feels like a restaurant that knows it won’t be around for long. Food: superb croquettes to start, other starters disappointing; lovely chocolate mousse to finish. However...Our mains were dreadful. Bland would be kind. Both our dishes were pasta both tasted of nothing. One was drowned in ink, the other had pasta that was both raw and overcooked. Service. Except the assistant chef who at times delivered dishes, the waiting staff were awkward, uncomfortable, lacking any warmth or personality and reminded me of Rami Malek in ‘Mr. Robot’. Ambience: initially looks ‘cool’ but in reality is rather cold. We had to whisper as it wasn’t busy, there wasn’t a buzz and no music to create any sort of din. This was Friday lunchtime."

"Dear Owner, The customer is the king! Without us your business is dead. In the 21st Century you should have more ingredients, meals customisation and flexibility. We wanted the warm cooked breakfast but there was no flexibility to provide a substitute or change the price if you can only sell half of the listed ingredients. Also, you are missing potato scones, haggis, variety of veg/ salsa such as cucumbers, radish, red peppers … and so on. You don’t have a vegetarian and vegan alternatives! Speed up please with the expectations. Never had an experience where the selection and options are so damn poor. Especially after the lockdown where businesses are appreciating and fighting for every customer. Thank you."

"located in the trendy heddon street, this intimate restaurant stands out over its weight for the price you pay. the kitchen is open so that they can see the cook at work. the service is attentive and accommodating. the ambiente is a low-key smart casual perfect for picking up between a group of friends. please try the burrata, truffled sellariac and roasted cauliflower pornstar. magpie has an interesting British takeover of them. (Note: the toilets are currently not in the best situation, but this is forgiven because they confirm and apologise."

"we came here with our two pregnant women and asked to sit outside. After we said it came first, we decided to wait outside. 40 minutes waiting that we weren't even told that there were sitting places in the ground floor, our pregnant women had to wait on a step and the server gave us so much standing up during. another couple waited for a table and I was told I had no problem with. there was a table of four in the inner, and when I went in to get it, I was lied and said a table of two moved on a table of four. He ignored me first and told me he would not serve us and go. abysmal service and heartless reaction on two...read more"

"From the moment we walked in we knew we were going to have a great evening…the welcome was so warm and yet professional. The service throughout the evening was superb…the perfect blend of attentive, informative and friendly without being over bearing or intrusive. And last but by no means least…the food. Put simply it was an amazing experience. We had the tasting menu and we’re so glad we did as it gave us an opportunity to truly experience the scope and depth of flavour you get from this unique cooking style. Standouts were the oysters, the lobster and the tunnbrod…and the wine pairing was sensational. This was a really memorable evening and we’d like to say a big thank you to the whole team!"

"I have visited this restaurant for coffee or breakfast a few times, and although the food is good, the presence of dogs is intolerable."
