"We went for dinner on Friday evening at 5:30pm and the place was packed and everyone sounded like they were having a great time. We walked in, found a member of staff and they quickly cleared a crowd from around a table to get us seated, delivered a bottle of water and glasses, poured for us and handed out the menu. She returned promptly to get our order for food and drinks. We both got cocktails ordered from a book's worth of choices. Took a bit of reading to decide. The food came soon after the drinks and was appetising and well presented. We had two courses ordered but eventually took a sweet to share between us. Dundee cake, St Andrews cheese and honey, different but it worked. By now it had quietened down a bit thank goodness. Enjoyed it."

Ordered 75% of the menu and didn't leave a crumb between the 3 of us. Great variety of flavors and hospitable staff.

Has never been before but will be back. Really lovely food, and great cocktails. Friendly staff and quick service. Not cheap, but worth it.

Couldn’t fault the service but the menu isn’t great know it’s personal choice but we all struggled to pick something because of the choice. One dish so undercooked we didn’t eat it.

Fantastic as usual. We visited during the Fringe Festival and Rugby season and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere and drinks were excellent. The chicken sandwich was incredibly delicious and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting.

We love V of B the food is always terrific even when there appears to be “nothing we fancy” on the menu! Our last visit was slightly marred by some very shouty folk at the bar (not VofB’s fault) but….. now I’m going to sound old…the music was about 20% to loud….

The food at this restaurant was amazing. The spicy rice was particularly delicious, and the fries were cooked perfectly and seasoned with a unique citrus flavor that I had never tasted before. The portion sizes were just right for sharing and trying out different items without feeling too stuffed. The drink menu was also excellent, with plenty of great options to choose from.

was in edinburgh for a meeting and needed a bite to lunch before they met. immersed for a suppe and a drink juice. it was a nice dripping lens soup that I think is homemade. it was very delicious. the staff was polite and made me welcome and again I was thanked when I left. I would recommend this place if they were looking for a place a bit quieter. it is a few roads back from the main road and was less busy than the one on the main road. I would definitely return to this bar and try a meal if I had more time.
