"For the past 16 years, we have been visiting Tylney Hall, eagerly anticipating the exceptional service, accommodations, and dining experiences. The staff is absolutely delightful, and we love it so much that we got married there four years ago on the first day of spring, and we celebrate various anniversaries there each year. This year, we brought our Cockerpoo puppies and enjoyed a lovely garden space covered in snow. The room was absolutely fabulous, and Jackson had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the food. Next time, we might need a spoon to pry him away from it! We brought you some treats to spread happiness."

"Below average. The food was, at best, ok. Little flavor. Half the people on our table didn 't finish their dishes because they didn 't enjoy it. My tagliatelle Alfredo was supposed to have a 30 yo Parmesan cheese but I could not taste any Parmesan at all. The waiter that was taking our orders seemed annoyed, or tired, or something else, but showed no interest in being pleasant. The restaurant is nicely decorated tough. I wouldn 't recommend this restaurant based on our experience today."

"Poor poor poor! Arrived for breakfast at 11am had to wait for menus fortunately asked to order drinks immediately these then took 15 minutes. Finally ordered breakfast and after waiting for half an hour politely enquired how long they thought it would be for our food to arrive ….To be told a further 25 I was slightly shocked at this and enquired why we weren’t warned the food would take up to an hour? Staff unhelpful. we won’t be returning. Spent about £65 on five breakfasts and drinks and would much rather go somewhere we would actually enjoy! A real Shame if the waitresses seemed interested in taking your order and being efficient could probably make a killing in tips and turn more tables Probably down to poor training Lovely view but would give it a miss!"

"I have heard good things about The Oak Room and we were not disappointed, except upon arrival they did not seem to have our reservation. However, we were quickly seated and enjoyed drinks in the lounge before our meal in the main restaurant. After inquiring if it was a special occasion, it was a nice touch to have my wife's dessert served with a birthday message while a pianist played a quiet rendition of Happy Birthday. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable, making for a very pleasant evening that will definitely bring us back for another visit."

"the most amazing place. the restaurant is first class with any authentic Italian dish that they could ask cooked to perfection! the staff is the best I ever met, so friendly and efficient nothing is too big, please ask for them. a big table for a birthday event and stella, the owner, could no longer have tailored to my changing desires (she had also hung up a happy birthday banner that I found so contemplative). we then went down for a pre-planned party in the event area, which is equipped with absolutely everything they could need for the magical evening (bar, dj decks, in built lighting and again the most beautiful staff). if I could do that every weekend, I would do that! honestly could not recommend a real jewel of a sound."

"We booked our table for half in advance as my parents were travelling from up north for the day for my mums birthday. No problem on arrival...we were shown to our seats quickly. Our drinks order was taken and given to us within We all opted for course lunch I think came to under Myself and my father ordered the same chicken chorizo pasta dish for mains. Our starters arrived fairly quickly and I opted for the bruschetta... the first few bites it was fine but then it was a soggy slice of bread with ice cold tomatoes dolloped on top so I think that’s what made the bread soggy fairly quickly? Who knows... anyway our mains arrived and i was presented the pasta carbonara so I raised this with the waitress and she looked at me as if I had lied so I hate making a further fuss so I accepted the dish. It was tasty none the less... My main issue throughout my experience here was where we was sitting. It’s right next to where the waitresses/waiters gather to scan the restaurant so it was off putting like we was being watched through out our whole meal... the feeling of someone peering over your shoulder. Not good... I would go back as I said the pasta was fine and my other experiences were great I am just gutted about my soggy bruschetta/wrong pasta and being watched through out my lunch! My mum given it was her birthday loved it and enjoyed the red berry cheesecake!"

"I had a wonderful time sitting in the sun. I ordered the king prawn spaghetti, but my wife added her burrata from her salad to my dish, which was a delightful touch. I also want to give a huge shout-out to Alexandria, our waitress. When the manager unexpectedly walked out, Alexandria continued to handle everything with remarkable professionalism on her own. She truly deserves a raise or at least a bonus—listen up, management!"

"Wow!!! What a fantastic place this is. We had a wonderful warm welcome on our arrival and although we were early we were seated right away. The staff are really friendly and attentive and there's a lovely atmosphere. The menu has a good selection and we opted for the Sri Lankan curry and the seafood spaghetti and both were gorgeous! There's a bar area too which was packed and that's always a good sign. The desserts were equally good. The owner and her team deserve praise for running such a lovely place. Well worth a visit. PS. "during my two-day trip in york I visited lucia on both nights! it was so nice on the first day that my mother and I had to go back before we went home! from sweet interieur to the amazing menu and delicious food, to friendly staff. it was all perfect! they have a very extensive separate vegan menu in the offer when they mention that they are vegan at the arrival. it has a wide range of starters, netzen and a dessert option. in the first night my mother and I both had the Pasta option with the courgettes and olives; it was delicious, my mother had it on both nights! the portions are really decent ash! super filling still great prices for the amount and quality they get! on the second night I got the fungi pizza that was huge and really delicious! the vegan cheese was perfect (as I usually hate vegan pizza because the cheese can be rough). it was so big that I couldn't finish it! the teig and the beats were beautiful. there were so many other things I wanted to try like gnocchi, ravioli and more! I also had a side of twirl rings with my pasta and it was a large portion size and they were lush! really crispy panic fried; just delicious! so many vegan side options too! there is only a vegan dessert that is a cheesecake, but there is also a series of ice creams! the personal is so beautiful here and the restaurant is so clean and has an amazing mood! loved and would recommend to anyone who visits york; vegan or not! we also cried to our waitress, sophie, who recognized us and served us both nights; she was beautiful, if I could give 5 stars, I would!"

"We went for a family meal, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We ordered several starters which all came and were very nice. The mains arrived(ish) they dropped one of the meals so that came later these things happen. The special Swordfish ..was as dry as a bone, this was returned and the chef re.cooked the dish and sent a new meal out which was cooked to perfection and lovely, which begs the question Why was the original dish even served The Calzone was not very pleasant it was over powered with ricotta cheese to the degree that the other fillings were unnoticeable, however we didn't complain as they were obviously having a difficult evening! This was one of our many visits to this restaurant, had this been the first time it would have been the last."

"Update Mothers Day 24 Took my mother today for a treat and she enjoyed it. Not cramped at all and very friendly staff. Not a cheap meal but very nice. I like the food here and it is very popular so book if you can! At times I have felt a little cramped as they don't like to turn people away and if can get very hot, it is a very old building! Good location, staff friendly but can be a little slow on busy nights (to be expected really) I would recommend eating here but as I say book ahead!"

"Absolutely Super Delicious! We tried different restos between Windermere and Ambleside and this is the so far the best tasting food we had. Great value for money, not expensive, and worth a michelin mention. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. There might be a long queue after they open at 5 but understandable for it is worth waiting. Be sure to get there early to avoid the line. We went there 3 times during our trip to the lakes. Highly recommended! Cant wait for our next food trip there."

"The food was good the waiter was very attentive but the toilets were awful.. ladies). 3 toilets .. in one there was no seat in another the water was flushing constantly and in the third there was no loo paper! The hand drier didn’t work. This is very poor."
