"The staff were friendly and very helpful in guiding us on how to operate the karaoke machine, which was a refreshing experience. If we wanted to order drinks or needed assistance with the karaoke, we just pressed the service button, and the staff promptly came to our room to take our orders. We had a great time that night and are already planning to return with a larger group of friends."

"I arrived on time and presented my self to the receptionist saying I had a reservation for afternoon tea. A waiter immediately popped out and greeted me by name and led me to my prepared table. As well as a dessert plate with cutlery my table had a small side plate and butter knife, a selection of 6 jars of jam (raspberry, strawberry, apricot and marmalade (all Wilkin , salt and pepper mills and a bowl of sugar. My order was taking promptly and the requested glass of tap water and pot of tea arrived promptly. A small jug of milk and some pats of butter were also brought.Soon my sandwiches arrived. There were six sandwiches; two each of grilled aubergine and cream cheese; chicken and salad; smoked salmon and cream cheese. The grilled aubergine and cream cheese isn 't something I would have thought of creating my self but it was surprisingly tasty. Along with my sandwiches were nine fancies; a small pastry cup of vanilla custard with strawberry, a small pastry cup of vanilla custard with a fresh mint sprig and a small pastry cup of chocolate custard with cranberries as well as two each of three different biscuits. All were excellent with the chocolate custard being particularly memorable.A few minutes later my scones (one plain, one fruit arrived fresh from the oven along with two little pastries and some cream.A requested hot water top up for my tea was no problem and I was offered more sandwiches which, as the food originally brought was so plentiful, I regretfully had to decline. This was an excellent tea and I enjoyed it very much. The food was very good and the staff attentive but discreet. My only niggle is the discretionary service charge . It 's not mentioned on the website and it 's not mentioned on the menu posted outside. I 'm not sure if it 's on the table menus as I didn 't really look at it, knowing already what I wanted. In the UK I 'm used to paying the price quoted for goods and services so to have 12.5% added without warning is a step in the wrong direction. I 'm guessing management will say that, as I don’t have to pay it, they don 't have to mention it beforehand.Anyway, the meal would be good value at £26 service but I had a offer so got it for £16 service which made it exceptionally good value."

"Sushi Surprise is a really small place that could only accommodate up to 8 people sitting with two high tables. It is more appropriately described as a takeaway. The surprise element for today's lunch deal is the salmon nigiri topped with parmesan and then a quick blow torch action for the finishing. You want a twist to your lunch, check out Sushi Surprise. Not too cheap but the freshness of the sushi is worth paying for."

"The Lochy was fine for what it was for us--a very casual, very basic pub dinner after a relatively long travel day from Edinburgh--but it was probably the most average food we had of nine or ten days of mostly great eating in Scotland. Getting here was the most special, maybe. Having driven a car on the left for the first time ever on this day, wanting to have a beer or two, and staying in an apartment in nearby Corpach, we didn't really want to drive on this evening. On a beautiful evening, we investigated the Corpach waterfront (the end (the beginning? of the Caledonian Canal and took in the unbelievable views along the waterfront path (the Corpach shipwreck, Ben Nevis, the loch, and so on , and we wandered on over to Caol and the Lochy. (We returned via the canal path itself; you can jump on just across the street from the Lochy. I see from Tripadvisor that plenty of tourists get to the Lochy, but it sure seemed like a locals' spot on the night we were there, with a number of families present. Although the outside of the place suggests that it might contain a dim warren of rooms, it's actually a couple of brightly lit larger rooms with a bar in the middle, where you order your food and drinks. Venison burger for me was pretty tasty--although it came only with caramalized onions and goat cheese, which left things a little dry--and the wife's fish and chips were OK. Like I say above, the food was fine, but not especially memorable. Several beers were on draft, and everything was reasonably priced. 3.5 stars."
